I get this from men often. I tell them exactly why I'm not smiling and it usually shuts them up.

Though I don't think I've been as dismissive as some men, what really sealed the deal for me was when I was walking through a dark alley and I got that "I'd fukk your brains out" look from this tweaked out dude who was like 6'5".
Any scenario where people who can overpower you are also inclined to want to penetrate you sexually should be enough to empathize.
Of course, they might say, "Who are you to assume that every man would have sex with you?"

It's a way to try to be nice by asking you to do what society expects of a girl. I don't see it as something that's that bad (because whoever is doing it, is trying genuinely to be nice, they just suck at it lol), because we were all raised to be like this (I don't like this, I'm saying I understand the behavior) and expect certain things from men/women, but, on the other hand it's annoying when everyone expects you to act like a princess because that's how society in general views how women should be.
