    Mass gainer cookie

Hi there guys, normally post workout I have a shake immediately after then 2 hours later some pork, greens and olive oil.

There's a shop in Aus where I live which is selling something called the growth cookie. It is 1000 calories and is made from brown rice. It is being said to be a healthy choice. If I was to eat this instead of my normal meal, 100g sirloin pork, some greens and 2 shots of olive oil would this affect body composition in any way? My overall macros will be what I need and the rest of the diet has good amounts of the right foods.

Macros for the cookie are 50g protein, 47g fat and 89g carbs and also 41g of sugar.

    Thanks in advance.

    Wait...let me get this right...

You're thinking of eating a "cookie" (*cough cough*) made from brown rice that probably tastes like salted cardboard instead of a 'normal' meal of meat and a side salad?

    SMH

If you feel you need a "mass gainer cookie" ...I'd recommend 2 homemade chocolate chip cookies, or maybe a snickerdoodle if you need some variety.

Out of plain curiosity, what are the other ingredients in this thing besides brown rice?
    No brain, no gain.

Hi thanks for the helpful comment, I have read over it all plenty of times. Within 30 minutes after my workout i consume a shake consisting of 40g protein with a banana then 2 hours later I have a meal. Can you tell me where I'm going wrong please? I also understand it's not completely necessary to do so straight after but I like to and prefer too.

Hi thanks for the comment, it's main carbohydrate source is from medium grain rice. Reviews say it taste delicious and not too hard to get down. I'm thinking of convenience and an easier way to get extra carbs in to hit my macros.

As far as any change in body composition, as long as you're simply exchanging one set of macros for another, it's a non-factor.

Just keep in mind that's it's always a good idea to get most of one's nutrition requirements from regular, mostly-unprocessed foods.

Hi thanks, yes I understand what you are saying, the rest of my diet is all whole foods besides my shake and this would be different as well. Just looking at it for the convenience and easier time hitting macros. Would you say by those ingredients that it's very unhealthy or not too bad? Thanks.

The ingredients look okay. As long as you're not planning to use something like this as a staple food, I don't see a problem.

Thanks for replying. I'm looking at it as something I could do when time isn't there to cook and would never be more than once a day.

Wouldn't it be similar to having a mass gainer shake in some way? That's how it's being compared. Cheap and convenient way for me to down some calories. I didn't realise how stupid of an idea it was.

I do and I enjoy it. Pork sirloin, beans and spinach with some cottage cheese and down the olive oil to get my fats down. Some people don't know how I can drink it but the health benefits I've read make it worth a bit of a bad taste.

It's worse. You're wasting money in an even more idiotic way.

Better question- do you need more protein? once you hit .8g per pound you're fine on protein.

Hi can you recommend a better way for me to get the calories down? Do you think the olive oil option is better? It's just by this time of the day I still need around 40-50g of fats and a around 100g of carbs and this just seemed easier to me. Can you recommend some alternate options to hit my fat/carb options?

Make Pb & J sammies instead and drink a glass of milk/protein shake with it. You'll save a ton of money and it must taste better than this cookie thing. You can mix up flavors too by using different jellies, nutella, banana, sliced strawberries, raisins, cranberries etc.

I suppose if money is no object to you and you like the taste of .20 cents worth of rice and PB pressed into a wafer, then go for it.
