Stainless Steel sleeves make so much sense. They do not need to be coated. They do not corrode. And they look good.

Stainless sleeves for sure. The whole point of stainless bars are the easy maintenance and cool factor. Fully stainless is just that much cooler.

If it's all stainless Duke I'll probably end up buying one when it's available, any chance of adding a 30mm option? I miss my thicker bar for pressing and squatting.

I vote for SS sleeves if it does not effect the cost. Sign me up for that too. Will get rid of Cap-OB86B , now that price is back up to $145 or so.

Speaking of 30mm or 31 mm bar , I was able to final take of the roll pins . Will post the pics in the barbell thread.

If Rep comes up with 30 mm SS bar then that would be hard to resist as well.

I'd vote for stainless sleeves also.

With all stainless construction, the only similar bar I can think of is the Ivanko OBXS-20kg, which is something around $1000 these days. If you build an all-stainless proper 29mm power bar for a nice price, this entire forum will buy one.

Passive center, yes. Knurl on the rest I am trying to get a bit more aggressive. We'll see in a week when the new sample arrives.

The current depth of the knurling is fine. I understand that knurling is personal preference. I used the bar for all 4 major lifts and the knurling felt fine. Well, for DL, the weight was around 300lbs.

The knurling on the Excalibur is very nice for bench, rows, and squats. I'm not a big deadlifter, so I can't comment on that. But it grips well yet doesn't tear up my hands.

Hey Urban. Are you able to rehost your pictures? I'm thinking about picking up two of the 275lb sets. I'll be getting rid of all bumpers that I had. I didn't have a use for 35s, do you think I need any 35 iron plates? Are you still happy with the purchase?

Yeah, I'll try to fix them if I have time today. Very happy with the purchase, they are seeing alot of wear on the paint but I have been lifting like crazy lately so I kinda feel like that is to be expected. Very happy all around, but I do kinda wish I bought some 35's becase they are handy to have around. I will eventually get around to buying another set so I'll probably get the 255lb set when I do. One thing I will say though, given SK mentioned it being an issue with the revolver style plate a while ago, is that these are not the greatest for deadlifting. They do roll around a bit on my floor, and for some reason no matter how tight I get them on the bar there is a little movement. Only seems to be noticeable when deadlifting, other movements its business as usual.

The paint craking/chipping is part of my worry. I workout in the garage so I am concerned about rust. Don't really want to spend too much cash on these if they will be prone to rust.

Bare metal will ALWAYS be prone to rust unless you upkeep frequently. Worse case scenario any little chip that forms might have a little surface rust on it, and that adds character to the plates IMO. It's iron bro, stop worrying about rust and lift heavy sh*t!

Yep, it's funny, I've been TRYING to knock the rough paint of my Ivanko Revolvers off so they could start forming some rust and look a little more old school. Lol. I'm about to take a grinder to them.

Nice haha! I'll get updated pictures tonight on the condition of my plates so there is something of value in this thread again. The only areas that seem to be wearing are the raised area around the hub. They stick out just enough to make contact before the outer rim, and since I enjoy slapping plates together occasionally it's chipping. Odd enough though they haven't really haven't rusted yet despite some humidity downstairs, you can just see shiny gray surface.

It's been a few years now since you've had the plates. Would love an updated review on how they held up.

I bought the REP Stainless EX Power Bar off your recommendation and I absolutely love it, but now I have to replace my old CAP plates with something nicer.

Have you bought additional plates over the years? Any notable change in quality? Or do they all seem the same regardless of year.
