Anybody actually warm up their cars?

Never do and have no problems, I park in a public garage and have to be out at a certain time and I'm always last minute. Never warm up the car, 2000 Toyota Camry tho, goat car.

I did an experiment, left transmission oil in the back seat, was below freezing that night, came the next morning and the transmission oil was not frozen, giving me the conclusion that the engine oil wasn't either. Lol @ warming up car

Investing in snow removal equipment when you might get snow once a year seems like a great idea

The manual for most cars say drive it from cold. Don't thrash it at high rpm when it's cold though obviously.

You shouldn't have to. If your car was made after, like, 1985 and has a catalytic converter you should be able to turn it over in even the coldest and nastiest of weather conditions. I use to have a 77' Caprice Classic. When it was cold I had to pump the breaks and let it sit for about 10 minutes to warm up or it would just die as soon as I put it in gear.

No because modern cars can suffer from fuel wash if sat at idle for extended periods of time.

Get in, drive it gently until it's up to temperature. Keep revs under 3-3.5k/2-2.5k for Petrol/Diesel.

    No need with modern vehicles

It's a good policy to keep revs low until you're all the way up to max operating temperature though

I try to, but it's pretty pointless. My truck is a diesel and it takes on average 10 minutes to move the thermostat needle and I live 12 minutes to work depending on how long the Tim Hortons line is.

You fuking idiots realize that warming up a car is actually bad for it, right?

Besides that, my local police dept. posts on FB daily each of the cars stolen that morning while they were warming up in the drive way.

I usually let it warm up for a minute, or if there's snow I run it while cleaning my car.

Cars nowadays use fuel-injection so there's no need to warm up.

Idling fuel injected gas motors in cold weather is bad for them.

Yep mine was pretty similar to that but grey with a red suede interior. I got mine from an old lady that lived up the street from my parents, Her husband bought it brand new, but shortly after buying it, he died and she never drove it because she had her own car, so it sat in her garage for years. I bought it off of her for $1,500 back in 2005, It still had its original 15,000 miles on it. I drove it around for about 4 years, but needed something better so I sold it and the dumbass painted it neon yellow and turned it into a lowrider....and totaled it all in about 3 months.

I don't because I'm in a similar situation as u op. It goes below 0 here often and ATM my car is covered in ice. But I still don't warm it up and it works fine. But my dad who's an extremely experienced driver said I should always warm it up or else I will fuk up the engine.

This. Biggest concern is cylinder wash due to the excessively rich conditions at idle when cold. That said: I let my car warm the hell up if I can help it. I'd rather get into a car with heat than not have it. If my son is with me, I'm definitly warming it up for him.
