    Ford...is killing it.

For a "humble" brand, and not a luxury tier brand. But even Lincoln is wow'ing the crap out of me with the new 2017 Lincoln Continental. They are beautiful cars. Just need to bring out a new Navigator that isn't a POS, and a compact SUV slotted under the MKC SUV for high volume sales seeing as people love lifted hatchbacks with AWD.

Ford Edge Sport is a high 13 second sleeper of an SUV. And it handles amazing, it has the most razor sharp quickest ratio steering I've ever experienced in an SUV. One full turn of the steering wheel to lock.
Ford Fusion Sport is a high 12 second sleeper sedan. 330hp/380lb-ft 2.7TT and if it's like the same one found in the 2.7 F150...it can easily be made 400hp/500lb-ft.
Ford Taurus SHO, same as above but with 3.5T...I hate the cramped interior for the size of the car though, and the car is outdated now. Still 350hp/350lb-ft and a tune away from 400hp/400lb-ft.
Ford Fiesta ST - pocket rocket, very fun, I fully understand all the hype after driving them. Even a base stick shift 1.0L 3 cylinder turbo Fiesta is a riot.
Ford Focus ST - same as Fiesta but bigger and not as nimble. More power in it is nice. I bought one because I knew someone at a dealership, they had 3 sitting on the lot for extended period of time because underappreciated, and I got into a fully loaded for the price of used (sticker 36k cad, got in for base price 28k cad) plus the color I wanted.
Ford Focus RS - god in hatch form. I've driven one and would love one...but, priorities first. 350hp/350lb-ft and many are hitting 400/400 with a tune. Very easy to flick the car and drift...but that's all been deeply drilled into our brains by this point.
Ford F150 Platinum 3.5TT - luxury half ton, massage seats, high 13 second truck stock.
2017 Ford Raptor, just drove the other day. Thing is insane. 450hp/510lb-ft and flashing with a tune will probably put it at 500/650. Looks muscular AF and has the most attractive front and back of a pick up that I've seen.
2017 Super Duty Platinum - 440hp and 925lb-ft with the Power Stroke is nothing to sneeze at either. I like these trucks. Till Ram finally updates their trucks...maybe even be the first to hit 1000lb-ft out of the 3.

...and the Ford GT coming out.

I didn't even mention Mustangs but obviously those too.

I've driven a lot of cars but nothing has made me catch feels the way the Shelby GT350 and GT350R have. I'll definitely be looking into a GT350 in the future when prices go down and people overlook these when the new GT500 comes out with Hellcat slaying power. 500hp is plenty good for me, and I don't mind wringing out that flat plane crank Voodoo 5.2L to make that power because the sound it makes is literally orgasmic and after driving one I was jittery AF. The 6spd Tremec feels amazing too, and well executed heel-toe and resulting throttle blips with it make me melt. I was a GT-R fan boy till these came out for half the price, a proper feeling stick shift, a godly exotic sounding V8, and just as good handling but in RWD form that you can drift and not wreck a $25k transfer case.

And yes have driven and also liking the current 2016/17 Hellcat, Camaro SS, and Stingray Corvette and seeing all 4 of these sitting next to each other. My eyes still go to the GT350, and they stay there.

Even add C63, M2/M4, and RS5 to the mix and still no-contest. Although I do love the new Audi interiors, and an RS5 would be a killer year round DD. Fantasize the DSG paddlebox and ripping out from digs every light.

Ford Edge is nice and hits a nice sweet spot for a crossover.

But I'd take the Charger > Fuzion/SHO, the Challenger > Camaro> Mustang, Durango > Explorer, Tahoe > Expedition and 1500 > F-150. Obviously the Raptor > Rebel but I'd rather save $10k+ and take the Rebel.

of those i don't know what i would take. the explorers with the ecoboosts are going for a pretty penny, and only the newest expeditions have ecoboosts. and the lesser ford engines are underwhelming.

v8 durangos seem like a good choice too.

the ecodiesel grand cherokee seems like a good balance but i'm not sure. guess i'd have to test drive a bunch and see. basically i just want a family hauler that can comfortably go on long road trips and camping. probably hard to beat a full sized truck with topper and possibly camper/trailer.

How is reliability compared to Toyota right now? Looking into getting a car for a family member for mainly commuting and daily driving. Probably 15-18k preferably range

Literally not even comparable. Japanese brands, especially Honda & Toyota, will always trump American car brands in reliability, resale, and overall value.

American car companies cut way too many corners just to make their product viable, often times even making them gimmicky to attract the less intelligent buyer.

Japanese companies invest in the U.S. and create jobs here, while American companies have shipped factories to Mexico & Canada, while using Chinese parts within their vehicles.

It also shows VW being almost as reliable as Scion and more reliable than Nissan...so there's that.

They're strong across the lineup except for full sized SUVs. The expedition is still outdated and in my opinion giving it a tt sixer just makes it worse. Escallade, Tahoe, Yukon, are better.

Also the dying segment of full sized sedans was completely dead unless you were buying a 7 series, but the Taurus SHO and the new continental are bringing large cars back to their former glory.

So yeah I'd say Ford wins except midsize crossover. Grand Cherokee > Explorer.

Having owned a 2014 Ford Flex, I will never lease or purchase a Ford product ever again. Within the first two years, the transmission was replaced (at ~ 22k) and had electrical problems galore. When we finally got rid of it, it still had a problem where the windshield wipers were on, despite having them turned off. Had the stalk replaced and most of the dash ripped apart before with no solution. Both the dealership and corporate were of no help.

I have a Ford Explorer as a company vehicle. The thing throws more codes and has to be serviced more than any other car I've ever driven.

The F150 looks terrific, but I would never, ever buy one of their ecoboost engines. A quick truck with tons of towing capacity isn't doing any good when it's in the shop.

Maybe I'm just unlucky with domestic cars, but I haven't had a good experience since my 1986 Chevy Caprice. I'll stick to my Toyotas.

You cant compare an Explorer with a Grand Cherokee, they are a different weight class.

5 passenger vs 7, and half the cargo area.

Their cars all look great on the outside and seem to be pretty good as far as driving dynamics go on cheap cars but everybody I know who has one complains about the build quality, iffy reliability and other stuff like interior rattles from brand new.

I'm just wondering how the Bronco will turn out. Might look for another SUV in the near future if I don't want a truck anymore.

No German manufacture has ever been known for its reliability. But consider their audience: While the Japanese build cars for straight and level flight (is there any wonder Lexus is #1) the Germans build driver's cars. Soccer moms don't buy M3s or GTIs.

One more thing OP -- your bias is showing.

As much as ford is killing it I think chevy has been killing it even more the past couple of years. Not surprised to see porshce and lexus up there, they were on top last year too. Although I am suprised to see subaru that low, especially under mitsubishi.

The hub is still in Germany of course, but if I'm not mistaken Passats and maybe Golfs as made in Tennessee.

In the case of VWs still on the road I suspect it maybe more of a case of the support from their "flower child" cult following than having to do with their build quality.

In other news, Lexus has been #1 since its debut. Porsche on the other hand, may just have a venerable following. Although they do claim they build the perfect car.

Honestly I think Porsche is just really that damn good. Srs this is the video that really convinced me though:

50 phuking launches in a row and not 1 problem. They got as low as 2.6 for 0-60 times. You try that in a GTR and apparently it will block you out launch control like after the 4th consecutive time to save transmission and cool down. Don't quote me on that though, this is just what I heard/read.

2015 Mustang GT with performance package checking in

    POSITIVES

    - Amazing looking car
    - Extremely fun to drive
    - Comfortable as **** even for me being 6'5
    - Nice interior

    NEGATIVES
    - Random Rattle in the back i cant figure out where it is coming from
    - Brakes make noise even though they are premium ford brakes and dont need to be replaced per Ford. F
    - When i back up and put the tires all the way to the right or left they are rubbing against something dealer cant figure out from what.
    - Already had to replace one wheel because it cracked.

Overall i would say if you are looking for a fun, fast car to drive that has pretty good not great reliability get it. If you are looking for a car and your main priority is reliability stay away from ford period.

I had a 2002 Honda Accord i got with 37k miles and i drove it for 5-6 years and ended up selling it at 150k+ miles. Not a single issues.... i put more money on repairs on my 2015 mustang gt in 1.5 years (Around $1500) on repairs then i did on my used Honda in all its years. Having said all this driving the mustang gt is 100x more fun/enjoyable then Honda Accord.

You may want to check back with ford about those squealing brakes.. there was a tsb issued to fix this.. took my wifes 15 GT in about a month ago to have it done.
