I played my fair share of games growing up and it's nothing more than a game (puzzle solving and reflexes)...no "strength" required

I'm not doubting you didn't play games growing up, but I can assume you didn't play anywhere near the level of these gamers.

You can hate on them all you want because it's your opinion. But if you don't think what they do doesn't take mental strength, then you don't know what you're talking about.

This is a growing market for sure & it could help gamers I mean the last Dota 2 tournament the prize pool was over 20 million.

I don't understand all the hate E-Sports receive. It's still a job that these players put a lot of time and energy towards. Sure, it doesn't require as much physical strength as other jobs, but it really does take a lot of mental strength which people don't realize.

This is definitely something I could see myself getting and using on the weekends instead of the Monsters. Although the White Monsters are so dang good..

Look at the entire Faze clan all of which make millions of dollars in pro gaming tournaments, not to mention their ad revenue from YouTube. People just like to hate on Videogames because they are stuck in 9-5 they hate.

Damn, that's how it is, huh. Gears has been the only shooter game I've ever been good at.

Back in college I used to make money online playing 2k and Madden, but can't dedicate as much time to that anymore.

Third person shooters are... eh. Although a majority of first person are basically the same thing with different guns and maps.

I made the mistake of buying the remastered Modern Warfare.

I forgot how much that game pissed me off.

Titanfall 2 is probably the best shooter I've had in a while. Battlefield 1 coming in second.

I have gears 4, I play Destiny and I'll be getting BF1 along with TF2 here soon. I took part in the TF2 beta when it was out and did the free play weekend last weekend, great game.

I'm actually surprised someone hasn't went through and updated graphics on a bunch of old games. Aside from DOOM this year, there isn't a whole lot.

I played everything up through Playstation 2 in college, then graduated and left video games with the rest of the undergrads and went to work to be productive.

Same could be said of many pursuits, and just about any sport. What athlete is contributing anything to society by playing sports? Most people on this site spend a bunch of time lifting weights, and some are able to do it professionally...nothing is being contributed to society by doing that.

Lot more skill required to play some of the games today than the ones that were around when we were growing up. Entirely different ballgame.

Actually, FWIW, I was a pretty serious runner before quitting that and getting into lifting, and I vaguely remember there being a pro runner (like good enough to actually get the majority of his salary from race winnings + sponsors) who was formerly a pro e-sports gamer. So if you really think that every gamer does nothing but sit around and play games, you're sadly mistaken...
