My gym has the nautilus super pullover machine, which I have never used. People like Dorian Yates and others credited either this machine or a similar pullover machine or exercise which helped them with their tremendous lat development. Can I get good lat development just with vertical pulls (pull ups, pulldowns) and horizontal pulls (rows, deadlifts), or do I also need to include a pullover exercise, like the nautilus super pullover machine to get complete lat development?

The pullover machine eliminates arms/biceps,forearms from a lat movement.
You are pushing down with the upper arm and contracting the lats.
A whole different feeling that with arms involved.
I have used a nautilus pullover in the past and really liked it.
I would put it in my back workout if i had access to one.

I'm jealous you have access to that. I would totally have it in my rotation!
Currently i warm my back up with locked arm rope pull-downs (2 ropes for the longer rom) and a good stretch at the top. I have no mmc or feel for a db version...
Not sure they are even close to "necessary" per say tho.FMH crew - Couch.
