Looking to add a new piece of equipment

Looking to purchase either a tread mill, elliptical or like a bowflex max trainer for cardio. Which one would you guys recommend or is there a better option out there? Thanks

    1. What is your budget?
    2. Blowflex is never an option.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Way better option.. Get outside and run. I own a Life Fitness treadmill and elliptical. I find them insanely boring. To be fair, my wife does use them.

What about a gym boss timer and some body weight conditioning i.e. burpees, jumping jacks, jump squats. Military personnel around the globe have used such triaing to maintian peak fitness.

If you really need to purchase something, buy a kettle bell and do basic swings. At least that will develop your hamstrings.

    This too.

For less than $2K, you could buy a nice rower, an assortment of kettlebells, GymBoss MiniMax, some nice training shoes, a decent fan, running shoes, and some bluetooth headphones.

Even after buying all that ^^^, you'd probably still have enough left over for a decent used bicycle from Craigslist.

    I hate treadmills and ellipticals.

The weight of the syrup just cranks the intensity up to HIIT levels.

    Lemons - lemonade

    Blowflex thread - maple syrup

    Completely logical progression, imo.

    Try to keep up.

was listening to the commentary of that movie, and they talked about how they tried different colored beverages inside like iced tea, but none of it looked right. the ended up actually downing maple syrup

For a rower, do you suggest the one where you pull out the rope, or one like you would be on a boat? Saw Dicks has both kinds.

protip: don't buy equipment from Dicks

    1: it's probably crap

2: you can probably find it cheaper online

from what i hear, the concept 2 rowers are the gold standard, though i think at least one or two guys around here have Water Rowers. i can't give you advice on which is better

    Mak,

If you want some cardio equipment, I'd suggest using Craiglist.

Lot of people buy expensive cardio machines then they just sit there.

A good rower would be a Concept 2, you can probably find a used one pretty cheap.

I personally like Precor's Cross Trainer instead of an Elliptical. I found one used for $200.

Edit: You have a budget of 2K? If you be selective you could pick up both those items for $500 (Total) and have $1500 to spend upgrading other areas of your gym.

from what i hear, the concept 2 rowers are the gold standard, though i think at least one or two guys around here have Water Rowers. i can't give you advice on which is better
A Sole F63 or FR80 consumer grade treadmill would be Okay. Get a used commercial treadmill if you can.

Found a F63 for 600 and F80 for 1k. Do the prices sound good or a little high and which one would y'all recommend?

Used or new? Used should be around $500. For $1000, I'd look for a used commercial treadmill.

    Treadmill gets my vote here.

Had an elliptical, treadmill, and stepper. Love the stepper and treadmill but couldn't get myself to like the elliptical. Sold it and got a spin bike which I also love.

I will say that the cardio equipment I have doesn't get much use in the summer when the weather is nice, but in the winter it is used almost daily. It is definitely worth having for that alone.

Getting the F80, talked the seller to 750. Possibly a little much, but looks like a nice unit. Would of liked a rower, but think the room would be to congested with one.

Probably a good deal. You can check to see how many hours the machine has been in use. Look for the user's manual online if you didn't get one.
