Ample Hills Eye Opener
I was pleasantly surprised with this pint. I haven’t had a pint this loaded with mixins in quite a while. I am generally not the biggest fan of coffee bases, but with all these mixins, I had to give this one a shot. The coffee base really wasn’t that strong and was more of a back drop to all of the mixins.
The coffee brownies were extremely soft and gooey. They provided a nice chew to each bite and were absolutely loaded in this pint. They were packed full of brownie flavor and had a slight coffee taste on the back end of each spoonful.
The chocolate covered, espresso-infused toffee pieces were amazing. Each bite was extremely crunchy, just as toffee should be. You are met with a chocolate flavor at first that then leads to a coffee, espresso type flavor that was much stronger than the base and brownies. Lastly, the toffee comes through and was a perfect addition to everything else in the pint.
If that wasn’t enough, they then added a caramel swirl to which was even distributed throughout the pint. All in all, this was a great pint, and I wish I would have stocked up on more! B+I.C.E.D.

adams cookie dough
after having the pecan pie, i decided to pick up the cookie dough too. these are the only 2 flavors they make other than their vanilla.
sooo much cookie dough. i really enjoyed this one. pecan pie still gets the edge though.
they should make a few more flavors, they seem to know what they're doing.Iron & Ice Cream.

Let's get some quality content going.
S&S Sweet Potato Casserole with Maple Pecans:
A lot of anticipation going into this one. Fortunately, it wasn't a pint that I needed to learn to love. Sweet potatoes? Former bro, so check. Marshmallows? But who was gooey sugar. Maple? Sweet tree blood, check. Candied Pecans? Lettuce be cereal.
Most interesting part is the base; in particular, its texture. They weren't shy with the sweet potatoes. Hardness is at the expected super premium level, but the mouth feel is much closer to mashed potatoes. Points for nailing the concept.
In terms of flavor, the base also lives up to it's name and stands up with sufficient strength against the other components. Honestly, the maple marshmallow swirl could have been the biggest "threat", but the overall experience is not overly sweet.
How about swirl quantity? Balanced: fair but definitely not B&J One Sweet World or S&S Rocky Road level. However, texture here is much better than in the RR flavor: gooey and thick, not airy and fluffy.
Highlight is the candied pecans though. These crunchy sugary deeply flavorful generously sized pieces are everywhere and they provide some welcome hardness/bite in comparison to the other parts.
Well worth your money and only behind PB&J thus far. Back in Switzerland but will resume S&S reviews in Dec.

Salt & Straw White Toast & Apple Butter
The white toast base was unique and has somewhat of a milky, sweet cream flavor to it. But not quite as sweet as a typical sweet cream base.
There is cinnamon mixed in both the base and the apple butter. Therefore, you get hints of it here and there, but nothing overpowering by any means.
Believe it or not, this was my first time having apple butter. The texture was thick and sticky. It was almost jam-like in consistency. The flavor was pretty spot on being mainly apple. It was sweet at first with a little bit of tart on the back end of each bite.
Overall, it was a decent ice cream. However, I am biased because I am not the biggest fan of apple flavored ice creams to begin with. The white toast base was very unique though. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but definitely a tasty pint that I am glad I scooped. B-

That's up next for my next S&S scoop.. I am stoked!!!
Jeni’s Sweet Potato Eclair
Not bad, not great. I wouldn’t say the base tasted exactly like sweet potato, but it was reminiscent of it. You really had to concentrate on the flavor in order to get that true sweet potato taste.
The white chocolate chunks were very thin and crunchy. However, they did give the ice cream a nice chocolate twist that actually paired better than I thought with the sweet potato base.
The pastry chunks were incredibly small. They were soft and gave the pint a soft chew. The taste was slightly buttery, but nothing that was a dominant flavor. I wanted more of them, as well as bigger chunks.
Overall, I would consider scooping this if you are just intrigued with the overall flavor and concept of the ice cream. It is not near as good as S&S’s, obviously, but still might be worth your time if you are interested in something cheaper than S&S. B-

Humphry Slocombe Caramel Apple
The base is described as light caramel and that is exactly what you get. I definitely wanted a stronger caramel flavor, as you only get a subtle hint of it with this base. It is sweet, but I just wanted a bit more caramel flavor. The density is on par for a premium ice cream.
What helped a little bit was the caramel swirls every few bites throughout the pint. When you come across it, it definitely brings forth a stronger caramel flavor. However, it is still on the sweeter side of things and lacked the butteriness that makes a great caramel.
There were bits of Gravenstein apples in the ice cream also. There wasn’t near as many as I would have liked, but they were pretty good size whenever you came across them. The tartness of each bite contrasted the sweet base and swirl well.
Finally, Humphry Slocombe added tiny pieces of pie crust throughout as well. However, they were lacking in size and amount. They didn’t provide anything taste wise, but rather gave you some crunchy bites every few spoonfuls. There isn’t much going on with this pint and I feel it is one of their weaker flavors, especially being limited edition. However, I am looking forward to the rest of their lineup! CI.C.E.D.

My 2nd Jeni's Brambleberry pint wasn't as good as the first one. Last time, I had plenty of brambleberry and plenty of crisp, and now i have lots of crisp but almost no brambleberry.
C'est la vieYou can't help the hopeless.
