Thanks bud! It is a pretty sweet gig.. Working 7 days on 7 days off! So a week off at a time I will be back on my reviews in no time. That's when the major ice consumption will be going down! I am a little behind because of all the good scoop shops in the area (Atlanta). I have over 40 pints in the freezer right now, and little g is coming in today as well.
Jeni’s Xocorosa
Very much like Ample Hills Mexican Hot Chocolate, but there is definitely a stronger paprika taste with this particular pint.
I wouldn’t be able to distinguish a specific jalapeno taste compared to chili flakes though. There’s a nice touch of heat to the back end of each bite, but nothing overbearing at all. However, it does linger on your throat for a while.
There isn’t anything special going on with this pint at all. I would have preferred some type of mixin, but I can understand Jeni’s keeping it simple by pairing it with a winter beer. Overall, it has a good chocolate flavor with a minor touch of heat. B-

S&S Petunia's Cookies & Cream w/ Raspberry Swirl:
Interesting flavor here. First thing to note, S&S's vegan base doesn't really "temper". Those of you on that bro-eating life shouldn't be surprised: it is coconut oil based and that chit is solid at room temp. What happens is that it just softens as opposed to melting.
Honestly, that aspect was awesome. Because it made eating the ice cream closer to consuming room temp butter...sweet, coconut flavored butter. You will not be able to replicate such an experience any other way prob.
So yeh, the base has a "strong" coconut flavor. And how about the swirl? Plentiful and thick. It struck a pleasant balance of tartness/sweetness. In fact, I'd characterize as mostly true rasp. fruit taste + sugar with very minor tartness.
Aaannddd...the cookies. Once again borrowing a page from Graeter's, S&S includes large chunks; some are almost half-Oreo sized. The cookie filling tho. It is so strong that the buttery textured base unites with it in your mouth to make this flavor feel like the pint has been stuffed with Oreo cookie filling instead of ice cream. Pissening.
I've never been a big C&C fan, because the iterations always come off as mostly vanilla with bursts of Oreo (at best). Well, this pint changed that for me: the entire thing tastes like one enormous blended Oreo.
VL's Choc PB pint is still better, but this is definitely one of the flavors worth the $20 + dollars.

It behooves you to acquire a cooler and freezing packs. When I lived an 1:30 away from NY, I used to drive in every month for 20-30 pints and they always made it home without any melting.
Ooo yeah mayne. Great find. Hope that down the road they also offer rotational flavors...such as the Pumpkin Pie that's been playing with my emotions on IG.

Good lord, AH has become so fkn lazy it's disgusting:
"We loved the molasses cookies from our @roald_dahl flavor so much that they're being reprised in our newest fall flavor, The Fox Stole the Pumpkin. Sweet cream with pumpkin spices and pieces of our chewy, housemade molasses ginger cookies. Now available across all scoop shops and shipping nationwide."
Brb, left over cookies...uhhh...blend into standard base (sweet cream + p.spice? gtfo) and call it a "new flavor"...

The Roald Dahl flavor wasn't as good as it sounded IMO. My flavor had 0 cider caramel.
You can't help the hopeless.

Ive driven up to s&s 3 times now, stocking up on 10+ pints each time so i've had quite a few s&s pints at this point. The chocolate peanut butter brownie from handels that I scooped is absolutely on par with salt and straw's chocolate gooey brownie. I guess one thing I'll say is that i didn't like half the flavors i sampled at handels but I have yet to have a flavor below a B at s&s. I stand by my opinion that the best i scooped at handels is on par with s&s. much better than most standard grocery store brands (bj, hd, etc) at least.Last edited by bartosh; 11-14-2016 at 06:46 PM.
