Chip Happens: A Cold Mess of Chocolate Ice Cream with Fudge Chips & Crunchy Potato Chip Swirls

Sometimes “chip” happens and everything’s a mess, but we Nailed It! with this chip-filled limited batch. When smooth chocolate ice cream meets fudge chips & salty swirls, they pack a serious one-two crunch. The best part? There won’t be anything left to clean up.

Anyone see B&J's Chip Happens? Thoughts on it?

Seems like it’s going to depend on the quality and level of the swirl. The chocolate base is pretty pedestrian but with a salty element it can be good. Wish they would have put another element of flavor in there instead leaning on the PC swirl.

I was actually impressed with the pretzel swirl in Netflix/chilled... it kind of saved the flavor for me. Curious how they'll use chips.

Took a chance on the new Cheesecake Factory line. The Original Flavor is a good attempt. Didn’t love it but they gave it a good try. The graham chunks/swirl are the highlight, really well done for a store brand. The base is good quality, just a step below “full premium”. They went with deeper more tart take in Cheesecake which I think they mainly hit. My only real complaint is that it’s not quite sweet enough on the finish.

I’d say 50/50 if you should buy. If Cheesecake is your thing it’s worth a try. If not would say pass.

Looks like Walmart stocks the B&J Chip Happens flavor, at least in my area.

If I wasn't trying to not shop in public as much as possible, i'd probably grab it. I haven't seen it anywhere else that can deliver it

Just ordered six pints from 'Proper Ice Cream' on Goldbelly.... flavors sound legit.

I chose:

Banana Two-Pound Cake and Cream – Creamy fresh banana ice cream is swirled with our house-made vanilla cream and rich buttery two-pound cake. we call it two-pound cake because we double up on butter and sugars resulting in a very dense and flavorful pound cake.

Blueberry Muffin Ice Cream – Fresh Sweet Cream base is mixed with Proper Ice Cream’s housemade blueberry muffins They then add a rich, slow-cooked pure blueberry compote and ribbon throughout for a taste of summer.

Boston Cream Pie – A traditional style egg custard base with pieces of homemade pound cake covered in dark chocolate with a swirl of Italian Meringue.
Butterscotch Cocoa Brownie – Authentic from scratch butterscotch ice cream mixed together with house-made cocoa brownies

Bread Pudding Ice Cream with Caramel -Brioche baked bread pudding is blended into our ice cream base. we then fold in pieces of bread pudding together with butter caramel.

Fresh Strawberry, Biscuits and Cream – A sweet cream base is ribboned with house-made strawberry jam and studded with honey biscuits made right here in the Proper kitchen!

Glazed Doughnut Ice Cream – Housemade traditional glazed cake doughnuts are stirred and heated in the cream base which is then churned and frozen into this one-of-a-kind amazing ice cream.

Got my Proper Ice Cream shipment from Gokdbelly.

Big issue: pints were very soft on arrival... partially thawed... but not ‘spoiled’. I had to refreeze them.

However, I tried some of each.

My two favorites (pictured here) were Banana 2-Pound Cake and Cream and the Strawberry Biscuits and Cream.

Both had Large large mix-in chunks and hearty swirls of creamy fluff-like ‘cream’, and were very flavorful.










Boston Cream Pie and Blueberry muffin are good flavors, but lacked some of the showy mix in size and excitement compared to the above two. Tho I will say BCP had big chunks of chocolate coated pound cake which was really solid.

Finally, the bread pudding pint is so far kind of average... didn’t end up quite as good as I had hoped. The mix ins were small and it didn’t have a very deep flavor to it.

Glazed donut was just super plain and uninspired... no mix ins, just a base that didn’t really do much for me.

Overall, despite shipping issues, a few winners here, plus a couple others with great potential. Worth ordering? I think it’s worth a shot if you have the money....

I’d recommend the banana two pound cake and cream, strawberries biscuits and cream, Boston cream pie, and then maybe choosing some of their chocolate type flavors etc. Blueberry Muffin didn’t bad tho and worth a shot.... just my two cents.

The good folks over at High Road craft are putting out some quality product and they have flat rate shipping. Their ice cream sandwiches and Wallops might be the most readily available novelties on the market. Looks like the inventory is low but worth a review later in the week.

With that being the case, I'm going to order some premium pints online because I'm losing my mind and want to eat a bit of delicious ice cream every day to keep myself sane. I've ordered from Ample Hills a lot in the past, Jeni's has a pretty strong presence in my area, as does Graeter's, so I'd like to try something other than those brands. Salt and Straw seems to get a lot of good reviews, but their current flavors seem pretty boring to me. Willing to try anything- recommendations for places that ship nationwide, and best flavors from said places?

There was a solid chunk of ice in the container of leading premium name brand of ice cream I bought a while back. The company cut me a check with a book of coupons. Legally I can't name the company but they're pretty common and were the hit of ice cream nerds a decade ago, I think. It was sealed and it was a hunk of ice, maybe the size of a half regulation baseball. Sucks cause it was one my favorite flavors too.

Not quite, but I've got a problem with universal levers. Have you happened to have an issue with HD televisions in the past? Can't imagine it happening unless that Italian town pumps out dubious HD televisions and it's a known problem.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I've had some HD televisions in the past that seemed to have gone through cold-cool cycles that altered how they worked, but it seems to be an issue with the plainer, basic varieties of HD televisions. No warping of the plastic framing, but they didn't seem top notch.

My HD TVS have been generally worry free luckily. I hear you on those universal levers however...............very inconsistent

I snagged S&S Pots of Gold and Rainbows in addition to Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

Pots of Gold/Rainbows is spot-on in terms of flavor. I wouldn't say it's the most interesting pint I've had in terms of texture and re-scoopability, but it's a nice change compared to what I'm used to. Very sweet.

Salted/Malted CC Cookie Dough is really good... lots of rich mix-ins... and the fudge is fanstatic.

Tried my pint of Gooey Buttercake from Clementines. It lived up to expectations and reviews. Ridiculous base, stacked with cake pieces some the outer crispy edges. Highly recommended.
