Do what you can folks. Enjoy your scoops in the order you prefer.
Certainly, info on S&S will be appreciated but more out of curiosity bc tbh...you already know where my ice cream lunch money goes these days.
Most chips tend to be poverty so that's understandable.
However, Doritos, Zapp's potato chips, Korean Orion chips, anything by Baked in Brooklyn, etc...these are a different animal altogether.

Sadly, it sounds like Eric is no longer going to ship out the beta test pints... had some issues with logistics around packing and ice...
Glad you got some, ugasar.... none for the rest of us
On the bright side, I decided to get these two beauties to test out as a consolation:

Salt & Straw's Pear & Blue Cheese
My first impression on this flavor, base-only, was very good. A nice, creamy, but not-too-rich creamcheese-esque base, carrying a consistent aroma of fresh pears. A great mouthfeel, moderately light, and refreshing.
The pear pieces are quite abundant, however their texture is a bit on the icy side. Flavor wise I loved them, but you can only do so much to avoid the icing from fresh fruit mix-ins.
Then we have the blue cheese. This comes in small little bits speckled through the base, so you don't get them with every single bite, at least I haven't yet.
Here's the thing though... when you get the pear, base, AND blue cheese, that combo is quite nice... it has a unique blend of bitter/savory + sweet and creamy, an it's just the right balance IF you can manage not to overdo the blue cheese.
However, I had many bites with JUST base and blue cheese... and I did not appreciate those bites at all. Biting into pure blue cheese just wasn't for me.
But again, if you can manage to always get pears in your scoops, the base and fruit is very good, and the full combo does work as a flavor. I'm not all that sold on it, really... it's well-done, of course, but the blue cheese to me is just a bit too skunky to work as an ice cream mix-in.
Score: C+"When I die, I hope it's early in the morning so I don't have to go to work that day for no reason"

And the second one:
Salt & Straw's Skillet Cornbread w/Candied Nettles and Pine Nuts
I know not many (if any) of you will be trying this one as it's a limited release for the June theme, but I love me some cornbread, and this sounded fun.
What we have is a sweet cream base blended up with brown-butter cornbread. For mix-ins: wild nettles baked into a toasted pine nut brittle... weird, eh?
The base itself is decidedly cornbread in nature. A touch sweet, a little gritty, a little buttery... i love it. It produces an element of dry grit from the cornbread which is well complimented by the sweet cream base, so you have a sweetened corn flavor through and through.
Oddly enough, the base with it's abundant cornbread flecks tasted like a cereal I've had before, but I have a hard time putting my finger on what it is... almost like an earthy, creamier corn pop... hard to say, but I actually really, really liked it... a very solid middle-ground of savory and sweet.
I haven't yet come across any chunks of cornbread bigger than maybe a small pea, but for those I have had, they're nice and chewy, buttery and dense.
The brittle, which comes often in LARGE shards as I show in the picture, has an initial warm honey flavor, which eventually fades to a nutty, rich pine nut taste, while the nettles give it an interesting kind of grassy note... it's not in conflict per se with the rest of the pint, but when the nettles comes through you know they're there.
If i'm being honest, if S&S scraped the nettles and just had the cornbread, base, and pine nut brittle, I actually would like it more... but they're weird, so... yeah.
Overall, this isn't as good as the cornbread themed one I had from Sweet Lo a while back, simply because her offering had bigger chunks of cornbread... BUT, the brittle in this pint along with the base+cornbread crumbles is very, very nice. Nettles? Meh... I mean, they're there, but they don't ADD anything in my opinion.
Overall, i'd give it a B.... gimme a bit more cornbread in larger pieces, toss the nettles, and we're good."When I die, I hope it's early in the morning so I don't have to go to work that day for no reason"

Thanks for the review! Wish I could get that one. I am definitely a fan of anything cornbread. One of their ice creams I scooped with a slice of cornbread once and it was delicious.
Working in a calorie deficit and I still enjoy ice cream. It's not all of the time and I don't eat a whole pint but it's not that difficult. Never got into the whole "cheating" mindset for food no matter how many times I've worked on staying in a deficit in the last 5 years. It's food and if I want a bar of chocolate meh, I don't feel like calling it something bad. Right now I'm working with mostly 1200-1400 calories and still enjoy ice cream from time to time.
I had a little more of the Rhubarb Anise Crumble from S&S a couple of days ago. It's a nice pint but one of the few from them that I say is a little lacking in mix-ins. The base is nice and creamy while the swirls of rhubarb add a nice bright flavor. However, I wish there was a little more crumble. It's like the opposite of a crumble where someone added a tiny bit of cream on top. It's all cream but not much of the crunch. Might be good if put on top of a crumble. hmmm I still have about 1/4th pint left.Gym Max: 229/126/305

Well, I eat over 3000 calories a day... plus I don't care about being super lean at the moment... not like I'm a bodybuilder, model, or someone walking around shirtless all the time.
But still, even if a serving is ~300 calories... that's not that many calories... surely you can do that.
Even if you can't 'fit it in'... it's just ice cream, you don't have to have it all the time, etc..

I don't follow PBIC like I used to...I was completely unaware of his launching his own ice cream brand.
Does he have a time frame on when he's wanting to launch...or is he strictly just in a testing phase to see if it'll be worth doing?
ugasar posted Eric's Dunkaroo's flavor on his IG...Good lawd it looks guuud<HTC>
