I started in on a breakfast trash pint yesterday. So far, so good. They delivered on the cereal milk base and I’ve had a good amount of mixins so far.

First layer was mostly fruity pebbles but underneath it, I started to get Corn Pops. You can't help the hopeless.

My AH order arrived safe and frozen! Was worried cause it got delivered while I was at work...got home, pints were rock-hard.
Also happy because I had e-mailed them requesting to swap out Snap Mallow Pop with Ooey Butter Cake. Never got a response, but they switched them out!iForce Blueberry Muffin: forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=169778043

Yeah. I assume the picks had something to do with finding ways to promote the book since it came out recently. Nothing too exciting though if I have the funds I'll probably get a pint of the snickerdoodle and try maybe the pear or something. Planning more on getting over to AH once I can get my sister to pay her share of the rent so I can buy food.

Hmm, what makes it that bad too you? I get it, it's not some crazy never before done flavor but I find it decent. Base is simple yet good in flavor. I mean you could go and buy the cheapest vanilla at the supermarket, I can take you out back and I could kick you in the nuts and call it a day or at least say the base is a better flavored vanilla bean base when comparing those. I never scoff at cookie dough or cookies pieces and these are fine. Guess it's just me but when saying never again I just struggle to see it so bad it deserves such a rating.
I'm only defending it because for an ice cream it is not terrible especially for the price. Let me send you a crazy $20 S&S offering like the recent tea one that is just not good and get back to me.

Well it's all context relative to the point of purchase. To use a buying slot from AH on a shipment, I would never do that again. Nothing about the execution and idea was stellar IMO. IMO B&J Milk & Cookies is superior and I can get that for half the price and within walking distance. Further, there were/are better options from AH to fill out an order.

Yeah I understand and sorry if I sounded a bit upset about your opinion. I wasn't and just sort of had a moment with my typing so meant no bad intentions. I do see what you mean, it really isn't anything special. I just took your never again on the side of so terrible you could not eat it but see your point on ordering it. I can agree that B&J Milk and Cookies is better and an easier and cheaper option.
Speaking of Ample Hills and their base and mix ins. Is it just me or do all their bases seem to be sweet cream in flavor? Also every mix in seems to get a soggy texture. Adam, Snap Mallow is good but it's got a soggy like consistency to it. Makes it sort of "spongy".Same goes for the new Breakfast Trash. I know it's just how it is but it's noticeable.

Yeah, I'm not above $1.99 Target Market Pantry flavors because ultimately I know what I bought relative to price. I have changed my general scale to account for shipping relative to what I have available in-store so things previously dinged were worse than Baked/Unbaked but for shipping I would caution against that pint relative to other AH options.

Awesome thread and great reviews by everyone. There is a Ample hill's by Sunset in L.A not too far from my office. Any suggestions which pints I should Def. Pick up? Breakfast Trash looks legit. Thanks guys. I'm not a big caramel guy but everything else I'm open for. I just got to make sure not to buy way too many pints haha.

Clearing out the remnants of my S&S stash.
So that Elvis pint was quite nice. Strong - almost pungent - overly ripe banana base, lots of jam, and some awfully nice caramel coconuts pockets.
As much as I liked that one, the real Vegan highlight turned out to be the Toasted Coconut Milk & Cookies. It's the same overwhelmingly coconuty base that you've had from them but that pure cocoa slightly sour ganache and the chunky soft chocolate chip cookies were proper; as good as the better non-vegan confections/baked goods.
OP, I like you, because you came and asked about real quality ice cream. So, I'll respond to your concerns in a helpful manner.
Nothing here is artificial. We eat real food. Eating disordered protein everything, Walden Farms for life, omgz what are the macros discussions never see the light of day in these parts.
As for Ample Hills, they've got some winners but I'd suggest starting with Salt & Straw which is also in LA.Last edited by lazymuchacho; 05-08-2019 at 07:09 PM.

Another option is Jeni's. There is a shop not far from Ample Hill's. I ended up there once as I live in LA and it didn't seem like AH was open at the time when I tried to get over to the shop. We do have a lot of decent options in the area for quality ice cream. Salt & Straw too have a few shops that have some good flavors though we miss out on a couple that are exclusive to other cities.

Grocery shopping last night so picked up some B&J and Talenti since they finally got in some of the "new" stuff. New in quotes because only new here which is slow on getting new stuff. For B&J I got the chocolate chip cookie dough core and the sweet like sugar cookie dough core. Overall not so great. The cores sort of have an overly artificial taste to them. The base of the chocolate chip cookie dough isn't anything special at all. Sweet like sugar at least has an interesting flavor with the almond flavoring but I am not a fan of cherries and they had to include big cherry pieces. The dough core is okay but again a bit artificial. I suppose part of it is to make it so can be more easily scooped.
Talenti they finally got those layered flavors in. I picked up 3 of them to try. Salted Caramel truffle, peanut butter vanilla fudge and vanilla fudge cookie. They had 2 other flavors but did not see the chocolate cherry cheesecake or dark chocolate cherry.
I only DUG into the salted caramel truffle one since sounds like I would enjoy that the most...which I did. However the "gimmick" just isn't fun. Having to dig down all the way to enjoy every layer just is dumb. SO instead of scooping down evenly you have to dig down one side/section like you are mining for gold. Flavor though was really good in my opinion so there is that.
