The Ample Hill flavors do sound appealing. For now, though, I'm settling for getting a few pints of S&S now that I can fit them in my financial budget. Would help if roommate wasn't behind on their rent but now I can get some ice cream this weekend. So far thinking of getting a pint of the pb&j one along with maybe the beet one. Considering the duck for the toffee aspect but not sure yet. We'll see what happens Saturday.

Sooooo...I tried the Tokyo PB&J last night. This might be a flavor I can not finish. It is far from any other flavor of ice cream I've ever had and it's a flavor profile that I just can't seem to want to finish. My palate is not sophisticated enough for it lol

I can confirm that Ample Hills is running a very limited menu until they fully transition into the free shipping phase. Basically, I am assuming that they will have a lot of orders and want to make sure they can keep up. Therefore, more orders are on the way soon!
Jeni's Ricotta Toast with Red Berry Geranium Jam
The base is a mixture of ricotta and sweet cream. It isn't very cheesy, but I would still say it is balanced pretty well. It isn't too sweet, nor too tart. It is a little denser than usual due to the ricotta, but also because of the mixins.
Seeded toast is used as a mixin and it is very unique. Imagine taking a slice of bread, toasting it, and then crumbling it up into pieces. Since it is toasted, the bread remains somewhat hard but gives way to a firm chew. The best way to describe it is like a very grainy texture.
Huge pumpkin seeds are part of the toast. They really don't provide much flavor, but do add a different texture and chewiness to the pint.
The red berry jam was added as a swirl, although it blends into the ice cream quite a bit. However, in some spots it is thicker and denser than others. For the most part though, it has a jam or jelly like consistency, but not quite as sticky or thick.
The flavor consists of strawberries, raspberries and a bit of geranium. I've never had geranium before, but it had just enough to offset this from your typical fruity swirl. Overall, it still had some sweetness, but the geranium's earthy flavor cut some of it.
This is a very unusual pint from Jeni's. The ricotta base could have been a little bolder, especially since the red berry jam took over with its sweet and earthy flavor. Lastly, the seeded toast added a very grainy texture and chewiness that I actually enjoyed a lot. It's definitely not a bad pint, but I wouldn't go out of my way to scoop it. B-

I've tried them all last night, but not enough to give feedback on since they're such unusual flavors. Your thoughts on the beet flavor seemed pretty accurate with my initial thoughts. However, like I mentioned above, the Tokyo PB&J might not be a flavor I will be able to finish. I took two bites of it and said no more. Such an unusual flavor for an ice cream that I just couldn't get myself to try more of it.

Consider the $55 shipped price a 50% discount from a normal order...? How did you get a 25% discount and not another shipment? Did you tell them you left the pints on the counter after receiving them mostly like melted? I assume you froze them back up and ate them with no problems? Mine re-froze decently, but texture was off enough to bother me.

Same day as well. Not a big deal and maybe you are more well knows as an ice cream "insider" haha. Anyway they fixed whatever was causing the issue so placed an order for:
FLAVOR1: peppermint-pattie
FLAVOR2: chocolate-milk-cookies
FLAVOR3: butter-pecan-brittle
FLAVOR4: 20-20-the-scoop
All flavors of theirs I have not had before. Before anyone says should have gone with Nonna's, I already had it. Was pretty decent but I want to try the other flavors first.

Gelato Fiasco Bourbon Butter Pecan
This was part of Gelato Fiasco's First Batch flavors that was released earlier this year. I'm generally not a fan of bourbon, but figured I would give this one a shot since it was part of the shipment.
The texture of the base is typical Gelato Fiasco fashion, but slightly quicker to melt. This is most likely due to the incorporation of the bourbon.
Scooping the base, I was pretty disappointed in the flavor. It is definitely lacking a butter pecan taste and is much stronger on the bourbon than I would have preferred.
The candied pecans are chopped into tiny bits and scattered throughout. They provide a hard chew with each spoonful that resembles an actual raw pecan perfectly. On the downside, they are absolutely flavorless.
Not mentioned in the flavor description is a caramel swirl. This was actually very flavorful and full of sweet buttery tones. However, it was lacking quite a bit in quantity.
In the end, this is one of my least favorite Gelato Fiasco pints. However, if you enjoy bourbon then this will be right up your alley. The butteriness in the base was severely lacking and the pecans were not candied at all. Even though the caramel swirl was sweet and buttery, the combination of it with the bourbon was just too odd for me. C

Salt & Straw Roasted - Beets & Humboldt Fog
This whole pack has been an adventure when eating. So many new flavor combinations, spices, ingredients etc that I've never had in ice cream before...at least like this. While it's fun to try new flavors, this whole pack was a little too "wild" for me to really enjoy the pints.
Anyways, about this flavor. It's a roasted beet and goat cheese gelato / ice cream base. The roasted beets really didn't come through a whole lot to me. Very mild, almost difficult to taste the beets. The goat cheese on the other hand is very noticeable. If you're a goat cheese fan you'll enjoy the flavor. It's very accurate to good tasting goat cheese. I'm not a fan of it, but the flavors work together well when you get beets, goat cheese, walnuts, and jam. The candied walnuts were plentiful in my pint. Normally, I'd say there were too many in my pint, but they were the only "familiar" flavor in the pint so they acted like a "security blanket" for me. The best part of this pint was the beet / apple jam. Holy smokes was this one good. S&S normally make great swirls, but this was a legit jam, not jelly like most of their fruit swirls. Great texture, great flavor, no iciness. Top quality that you don't find from other companies.
Overall, this was a good pint and probably my favorite so far from this pack. That's not saying much, but it's worth ordering if you still haven't.New England Patriot

Yeah honestly I think I would have enjoyed yours slightly more.
Mine was basically a ball of beet base, tiny bits of goat cheese, few walnuts here and there, and a huge pocket of jam in the center.
That jam was definitely great, but as you mentioned (I think I said this exact thing, too), in order to truly appreciate the flavors here you had to combine all the elements in similar amounts...
Mine tasted more 'beety' as a result... tons of jam... harder to get a balanced spoonful."When I die, I hope it's early in the morning so I don't have to go to work that day for no reason"
