Just looking for some advice Super Weak.

I am a 25yr old male, 6 feet tall and i weigh 260lbs. I would like to lose weight and also build muscle over time, recently got a gym membership. The issue that i am having is that i am unable to lift. It is so difficult for me for some reason, maybe because i have never weight trained in my life or maybe my diet is horrible and i am so weak. I am taking no supplements of any kind or protein. It is just difficult to go to the gym when you really cant do anything. I know its a process and will take a longtime but just asking if any of you guys have advice for me.
    Thank You

So then just start light. Obviously you are able to lift something. Maybe its a very light amount at the moment. But so what? Its something, and its merely a starting point. Yes, if you go in and try and lift too much too soon, you will get discouraged (or injured). The key is to start light, especially if you are totally new to it. Just get the feel for everything and practice. And slowly but surely, you will get stronger.

On the first day I went to the gym, I loaded up a barbell for a bench press, tried to do one rep, and got pinned under the bar because I couldn't lift it back up. Talk about a humbling experience. But the guy who helped get the bar off me told me not to quit and to just start light and work my way up. I'd offer that same advice to you.

We all have to start from where we are today. Take your time. Be patient with yourself. Find things you can do. Research the basics of weight training.
The most important aspect of weight training; whether for the athlete, bodybuilder, or average person is to better ones health and ability without injury. - Bill Pearl
