Strong squats! For some reason, my only depth issues currently are going too deep (why, I have no idea), but I used to have issues with being high. I had one really good visual image in my head that used to help get me down the last little bit. As soon as I hit resistance and I thought I was at depth (which I wasn't), I pictured a giant hook coming out of the ground, hooking me under the @ss and dragging me down a few more inches. For some reason, that always worked. Could just be me though, lol.
Keep those butt issues out of my training!! Unless it's too much butt, then I'll take it.

But (lol) seriously thanks for the imagery, I used to bottom out bs in the heels and was trying to train myself to stop earlier. Now I'll need to retrain to sink down further. I'll try out your hook idea.

    20170801 c3w19 squat

    wu squat
    bar, 95, 135, 165

    185x2
    205x2
    220x1
    230x1
    235x1 - maybe not depth
    240x1
245x0 - got loose at the bottom, looked in the mirror :/
    245x1 - maybe not depth

225x3 - no depth on third rep.
225x2 - stalled at the second rep, but still completed

    185x2x3 - bar on traps
    195x2 - bar on traps

    https://youtu.be/la0rDWM7JKw

Long video. I wanted to keep my walk-outs in. I also kept a lot of warmups in. I don't always video them, but wanted to check depth. And, since I didn't have my wrist wraps I wasn't sure how much my wrists would be willing to support. They went most of the way

175x6x3 close stance, bar on traps https://youtu.be/ODyKAbnwE6M

    95x10x2 wide stance

I made depth on a little over half. I forgot my wrist wraps so my wrists and shoulders were hurting the whole time. I had to move the bar lower after the backoff sets at 225. It's only the left side, so I'm assuming it's a mobility issue that can be improved on. My walk-out was A LOT better than last week, and that helped with tightness at the start of the lift. My feet still never quite ended up where I wanted them, which made the lift hard. I couldn't get my elbows down far enough because shoulder and wrists were hurting. It always felt like the bar was going to roll. I am getting some amazing upper back through glute tightness (and actually feel like they are working together, instead of one at a time). Some more practice and I think some of these small issues will go away. More shoulder mobility, wrist wraps and fix walkout are high on the list. High bar/bar on traps felt amazing for back off sets and close stance. I didn't video it, but my third set of close stance was the best.

I did leg extensions and calves for assistance. Wade has okayed a fifth day with safety bar squats, so my goal is to go in on Thursday and 'play around' a bit. I'll get some more assistance in on that day as well.

@IAGD, your hook cue seemed to work. It be aware that I just need to hang out and let it sink in a little better.

IAGD said something about not immediately responding when you begin to feel resistance in the hole, but imagining a hook pulling you down further. I think only one page back.

High bar only because my shoulders and wrists can't handle more low bar. That particular session was quite on point with form though, even my double at 195 was RPE 7.5-8. Assuming Wade doesn't mind, I'll stick with both forms in. The history is: I started as a low bar squatter, so this is more natural to me - about a year ago I added in high bar as assistance. My low bar form went to crap. I switched full time to high bar in January - started with Wade in March (high bar), switch to flat shoes/low bar in July, but haven't been able to get through the whole session with low bar because of wrist/shoulder pain. So far, cross your fingers, performing both movements on the same day hasn't messed me up.

Where are you in the squat cycle? I find it harder to alter/fix form at the end with 90%+.

    20170803 c3w19 bench

    bench
    bar, 65,85xsome
    105x6
    115x3
    120x5
    125x2
    125x2
    110x8

    SS
    135x1
    150x1 - form was off
150x1 - Extra, but I was really close to dropping 150 which scared me. this had better form (no vid), which gave me confidence for 160.
    160x0 - bleh

This is my first 'hard' session on this bench, instead of the fat pad bench; i'm not sure how much that contributed. I had a terrible shirt on - bare-back/shoulders would have helped a lot with planting my back. I forgot about doing anything with my feet, so they were all over the place and probably situated terrible to help in any way.

SS- 135 is easy. I could probably get a dozen reps. 160 has been easy in the past.

Let me first say, I'm not picking on you. You are far from the only one that does this and yes, it drives me bat chit crazy...part of the gig. That said, you have to realize, the going off plan is a choice and requires discipline to not do so. It is in your best interest not to. Not because I'm right but, because I'm trying to dial it in for you so you are right, make sense?

no need to do anything to the bar for you, we have to learn to stay upright and push those knees out, it's coming though. Right now, just see where your limit is.

I think some of it is just my overall goal conflict, and switching from training being a hobby/fun to taking work. Plus making it fit in the rest of my life. It always took work - but it was a lot easier/faster when I was a beginner....Now I guess I need to separate work from discipline. LOL, I'm becoming known at my gym for my leggings. It started with the tropical fish pattern that my niece promptly borrowed and loaned me her Polka dot leggings in return (yes, I share clothes with my 11 year old niece). Then I went on a leggings shopping spree after Christmas, which led to the holographic leggings that first got me noticed - "She's got mermaid pants on!" Oh wait, I have mermaid scale leggings too, among several other ocean themed patterns. The ones I'm wearing this week are 101 Dalmatians and I have Cupcakes on the way from Amazon. I may not dress my age but they're fun!

All of this comes really hard to me, I was an endurance athlete from a young age. I still don't understand/have any desire to compete, but I love to be around those who do. Enthusiasm for improvement is addicting.

Yeah totally similar for me! The first year, everything is fun. Then when you start actually tracking what you're doing, and you have to have discipline and work hard to make progress, it's not fun in the same easy way any more. Unlike you though, I love competing! Gym lifts are awesome (especially pr'ing on stupid stuff like paused safety bar squats, rack pulls, farmer carries, other "fun" lifts) - but competition is what makes it real, you finally get to realize the work you've done. For me anyway! Though you can also get that during the peaking phase at the end of a training cycle.

Anyway, sucks about the wrist/shoulder pain with low bar. Hopefully you find a way to resolve that. Doing a lot of shoulder dislocations and switching from thumbs-over to thumbs-around helped my shoulder and elbow pain, but the wrist gets me that way. :/
If you like to deadlift, we'll get along great!

Great lifts and OMG... Cupcakes? I so want those. I prefer simple color shirts but do like the pattern leggings but that's more cause with bench my stomach pushes out and that makes patters move. It's a little distracting with the mirror right in front of my showing my fluff moving. So, I stick to solid color tops for squat at least but can do whatever leggings/shorts I can find.

Yea, it's quite annoying. I didn't realize howmuch mobility I lost over the last nearly year. I really need to remember to do shoulder dislocations, thanks. I brought a band to work to give me more access to it, but still haven't gotten in a routine. I think it felt opposite for me these last two weeks. Thumbs over helped with shoulder, but put all the weight on my wrists. Thumbs around today, got rid of wrist pain, but put more weight on my shoulder. Unless I am doing something wrong...

shhhh.... they were not on plan. :/

I did tell Wade. I tried it out as an alternative to chain deadlifts. I haven't been consistent with the chains. We will see, my gym has been fluctuating a lot lately with # of people and where equipment is stored. I don't mind arranging my schedule to go on a downtime, but it's been hard to find the best time.

    FS did feel strong, thanks!

    20170808 c3w20 squat

    BS warmup
    bar, 95, 135
    185x2
    205x2
220x2 - form was best for these
    230x1
    235x1
240x1x3 parallel at least, maybe third single hits depth

    185x2 bar on traps
    195x2x2 bar on traps

    175x6x3 bar on traps
    - I just noticed the weight and set scheme is different than previous weeks. No vids, but form was on point.

Video from the side this week for easier depth checking. Looks like I barely make it sometimes, or maybe not. I kept my thumbs wrapped around the bar this week, which really helped with the weight on my wrists. I also had wrist wraps which helped a lot too. Walk out and foot placement were on point today. I still had some variation in elbow placement, but it's getting better. I'm getting really nice upper back-to-glute tightness. My low back and hamstrings are still sore from deadlifts (only had 2 days rest), so getting through these sets was a little uncertain when I started. 3 singles at 240 is a lifetime volume PR, helps a lot with confidence.

Assistance: Leg press, calves and leg extensions, (5x15reps to make up for low movement number) need to do abs. Not much, but low back was very pumped/tired after squats.

    *****

Weight is hanging out (hopefully anyways) in the low 130s. I have been eating lots and energy has been really good compared to previous months. I tend to have a big maintenance range (activity level changes to match food intake up or down). Goal is to gain at least a pound a month, and to be more aggressive in septemeber. I'll have a longer stretch of time without traveling to set a routine. I want to start tracking again, but will probably wait until the end of the month. AND, I'm pretty confident that I put some significant size/muscle on my abs/hips over the last year. I'm about the same leanness, but none of my pants fit any more from a year ago. Now to make my arms grow!

    Tsk tsk tsk!

Oh no! Bummer. I use splice by GoPro often and have sometimes used imovie. No one program does everything I want, but splice is really easy for simple editing.
