So my water heater took a dump last week, new one coming today, had to pay $80 just to get it delivered this week (free shipping was December 26-30, fck that). So $790 for a new 40 gallon tank.

Looked at tankless, which I wanted, but it would cost me ~$4k because of the work needed to replace my circuit breaker to add a new outlet in the garage for it. Nah.

So after getting a few quotes for install, $500-800, and it would be a 2 week wait at least.

Haha fck that again. Just installing it myself, not hard. Will post pics when it's done.

Taco Bell is great cuz it's dirt cheap and super Americanized, so the gimmick works.

Plus, not open on Sunday? How dare they.

Total time ~2-3 hours, $160 on the new hookups and drain pan, piping and other stuff.
    Spoiler!

Had to change how the T&P valve ran so it meets code now (old one didn't), and put the drain pan in for some extra protection. The step ans slight slope to my garage means that if it ever flood out the bucket it will just run down to the driveway and not into the house too.

It's a lot easier than you'd think, pretty much 3 hoses, one pipe and turn it on.

Hardest part is getting the old one out since it never full drains and it's an odd shape; I just pushed it over since it was broken anyway.

working 7 days a week with some breaks here and there to go see the girls. staying up til ~3 every morning helping to feed the babies after work before i pass out. the only lifting i've been doing lately is some farmer's carries:

because of course my in-laws don't want to bother getting out the (admittedly huge) double stroller from the trunk of the car

    wtf.
my in-laws (from China/Hong Kong) are very, very slowly getting used to the idea of eating non-well done steaks. honestly though since most of the steak we eat is at home, i just cook their a little extra and let them compare to mine. just remember that eating under-done steak is physically uncomfortable to many people (like how i look at undercooked chicken: no ****ing way i'm eating it). so i don't push them too hard. and if it's steak you buy from the store it's not a waste like it is at a fancy steakhouse

just cut that **** thin and then flip it a few times...or go with fajitas or carne asada.
