    Sumo DL, Hips height

    Hi,

After an injury I switched to Sumo as they are easier on my lower back. I seem to struggle to find proper hip height. The first video is with my hips low and the weight is moving super slow. In the second video the weight is heavier but moves faster, but the pressure on my back is more and it doesn't really feel like the proper sumo. I was thinking that something in between should be good?

    Lift Starts at 1:00

You're basically doing a wide stance conventional pull.

Cliffs version: open your hips up and get them closer to the bar.

Yeah that's what it feels like. Is the second video better in those regards? My hips are lower and more open.

I always thought that sumo deadlifts are done with shins completely perpendicular to the floor both from the front and the side.

As such one needs very good hip mobility to pull sumo and many lifters can't simply decide to "pull sumo by simply assuming a wider stance" (I certainly needed to learn that for myself. Am no where close to having the adequate mobility).

I can get into that position, im simply super weak in it. What are some mobility drills that could be done for sumo?
