I didn't really know where to post this so maybe it belongs here. I constantly have my older (taller) borther telling me that because Im shorter its easier for me to gain muscle. I am 5'10" 27 years old, he is 6'2" 32 years old.
Now I know we all are different and have different genes but heres a good example since we are brothers. Now I have been working out for 10 months and look CONSIDERABLY larger and hes been working out for 2 years and his arms are slightly smaller than mine and the rest of his body doesn't compare to mine as far as width and volume. Now we eat basically the same (healthy) foods almost daily and hes been following in my workout routines as he notices my rapid growth.
So my question is do you guys really think height plays a big factor. I know taller people have longer limbs but he just still looks so skinny and need MAJOR mass. I was not expecting to grow this much in 10 months.
One more question is, Is it easier to get to that 200lb mark when youre taller or when youre shorter.
Reason I ask its because all I hear from him all day its, "Its because youre short why you look bulkier", "Its because youre short youre getting bigger" "Its because youre short.... blah blah blah" Mine you again Im 5'10" Im not short but Im your average height but he compares it to himself. Its kind of annoying and I don't throw it in his face that Im bigger than him EVER, and the most progress Ive done in half his time in, but it seems he definitely has some kind of resentment towards me and my progress. Is this all boiling down to technique and effort or because I am slightly shorter do I look that much bigger?
Thanks for any help towards this!

he should be eating more than you not the same, his bmr will be higher.
Someone whose 5'10 200lbs will look bigger than 6'2 200lbs, or bulkier anyway.
There's other facts too, sleep. how hard he works compared too you.
Your genetic potential might be higher even though he is taller, though more likely his is higher I would say.
tl/dr he's probably not eating enough and not training as hard.
Maybe your routine doesn't fitting him either, if you are intermediate and he's a novice it likely won't work so well for him.

I mean were eating more, I have been trying to et considerably more and just barely started my first bulking stage. I too agree he should eat more maybe that's his problem. I have no problem consuming large amounts of food as Ive always eaten pretty quickly. We have the same job, in my family billing business and it seems like everything I do he tries to copy and jump in on my sessions. Which is cool sometimes but I rather enjoy working out on my own. I don't really need a spotter for any of my workout routines. I should be the novice right now as Ive spent less than half his time on the gym but it seems as its def the other waya round as I can push the same if not a bit more weight than him. Thanks for your insight bro!

That's kinda what I had in mind but not really sure. I also agree, taller guys will look much better and bigger once that mass is added. Ive heard a couple times that its easier for taller guys to lift heavier due to the fact of longer limbs its easier to bring weights up than shorter limbs due to the distance and motion. But it seems the contrary to me.
