New tattoo + lifting? seeking advice!

Hello BB.com! I just had my first tattoo on my shoulder cap ( side) on august 25 and I was wondering when would it be safe to start lifting again. I am thinking of taking the week-end off to let it rest completly and give it the best chances to heal, but I really want to be back in the gym asap!

So: What would be your advice?? How much time should I stay out of the gym? What should I do while lifting in the gym ( applying lots of lotion? getting in covered? )

Routine is Allpros, 3 times a week, with cardio 30 minutes 3 days a week also

    Thanks for your input!

I'd take time off simply bc a tattoo is basically an open wound on your shoulder and gyms are not exactly the most hygienic of places. I'd give it a few days to heal.

Take a few days off, Sudocrem, the baby cream stuff is by miles the best tattoo healer if you haven't been told to use it do so. 2-3 times a day, and wash it well too (no showering though).
As for the gym, use some non stick wound pads to cover it for the next week or two. Take them off as soon as you are done to let it the air get too it though.

I set my appointment at least 1 week and advance and revise my split so a schedule rest day fits the day after
    I lift morning of
    (note I start healing quickly)
    next day rest
    following day cardio
3rd day back in the gym- work with the areas least likely to be effected (avoid bars or benches touching) and wear baggy clothes
this is a great opportunity to get in a deload- use some machines at a lighter intensity
    clean afterwards

note most artist will tell you two weeks or so- safer way to go, but I havnt seen any problems. Cant fault the artist for wanting you to sit out longer, their work is also their advertising- if it heals incorrectly people may be hesitant to go to that shop.

Follow the recommendations of the artist who did the work. It's in your, as well as his, best interest to not take a chance on possibly screwing up something you'll have with you for the rest of your life.
