Had a nice cheat day yesterday, bit over 6000 calories I think and I woke up leaner than ever. Maybe 4 more days of dieting and then I'll start to slowly raise my calories

I do shrugs once a week, but they get hit pretty hard with deads etc. so I don't do much other isolation work for them. Figure that unless you have enormous delts, huge traps can make your shoulders look narrower...

I've got a question about deadlifts.

So when I squat, I have no issues bracing my core/abs and doing the lift.

However when deadlifting, I just can't seem to brace my core and do the lift. However, I noticed that I tend to pull with my upper back, while keeping my lower back perfectly straight as it should be. Is this acceptable? I feel great doing it this way - don't even feel the need to brace my core because I can keep my back in a good position this way.

You need to brace your core.

    Stand up straight
    Put arms out like zombie
    Fill diaphragm with air
    Pull ribs "down"
    Grab the bar
    Pull

Nothing should be loose when you do compound movements.

When you're benching you should have a strong core and legs pushing into the ground.

When you're squatting your core and upper back should be as stiff as a board

When you're deadlifting your entire body should be one piece of solid muscle.

we are not designed to be sedentary so it makes sense from a theoretical point of view

anyone should try to move a lot just for health, anyway
Bodybuilding is all about creating continual adaptation. The number of exercises you can do per bodypart is finite. How many good quad-building exercises are there? Six, maybe? The number of sets volume you can do is finite or infinite if you want to spend the next 3,200 hours straight in the gym.
What is pretty much infinite in training? Poundage.

All it comes down to is this: I feel like shieet, but look great.

However, I noticed that I tend to pull with my upper back, while keeping my lower back perfectly straight as it should be. Is this acceptable? I feel great doing it this way - don't even feel the need to brace my core because I can keep my back in a good position this way.
I follow Alan Thrall quite a bit and I am not even a power lifter. The guy has some really good stuff on diet, training, and form. In fact, he would fit in here perfectly with most of our philosophies on diet.

Alan says that he has adopted teaching using the Starting Strength method of deadlifting, but also uses another technique in the actual pull. The set up is the same as Starting strength, seen here...

But he also does this, which is interesting and might help you. Go to the 2:50 mark and look at his method of starting the pull here and see if this might help you

ITT Europeans mind = blown when they realize how much soda Americans drink.

People regularly drink a half gallon of soda per day here. There's 60oz cups at gas stations for soda

Sugar free grape drink is the GOAT for hydration when I am not feeling thirsty and even when I am feeling hungry and can't eat.

My day is usually a 8oz of water on waking up, then a cup of coffee, sugar free grape drink for most of the rest of the day, but break it up with a Coke Zero in the evening, maybe for dinner.
