Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Releasing On 8/23/2016

So I've just finished the very first part of the game - when the helicopter lands in the Atrium.

Question: Whenever someone on my team comes in over the radio I see the top left of my screen - the dialogue.

However I never hear what they're saying. Surely you're meant to be hearing the conversations not just a small pop up box that you have to take your eyes off the main story to read?

Running this at 1440p on very high with okay frame rates. Only setting I turned down was shadow detail.

I had one bug in Jensen's apartment where the menu locked itself. Other than that no issues at all.

Game is fun so far. Not amazing, but still very good. If I had to pick out one negative it would be the facial animations which are just flat out awful. Very strange considering everything else is pretty great.

Human Revolution is a great game. You can find the Director's Cut for it quite cheap at this point. I beat Human Revolution about 3 years ago, but I thought I would reinstall it today and run through it again just as a refresher and then pick up Mankind Divided in a month or two. It is well worth a playthrough. It brought life back to the franchise after Invisible War. I would get HR now and play through it if I was you and then pick up MD when it gets cheaper in a bit.

seems if you have a ps4 this is not possible, only see it avail for ps3, wii and 360

I hate how the actual game play looks 10x better than the cut scenes. Also they cap those cut scenes down to 30fps and it makes it all choppy. Dislike that VERY much. Never seen a game do that.

Lol 1440p feels. Going from a console cut scene to much better in-game graphics is definitely weird.

game actually runs pretty smooth on my rig. r9 270x + i5 2500k

i have shadows at medium, 2x AA, graphics on high. haven't done an FPS check yet though.

Just picked up a few older games for cheap so I'm gonna sit on this for awhile until it's cheaper. That way any issues on pc (if any haven't really been looking into that) will be worked out and it will be a bit cheaper hopefully

Think I am going to wait for this one to go on sale. My interest was piqued, but them having micro-transactions in a full priced game, day 1.... That just seems too scummy for me, especially after the whole pre-order unlocking content crap that they pulled when the game first announced. That said, I am excited to play it, once I get it. Hopefully by then all of the performance/optimization issues are resolved.

People complaining about microtransactions in a single player game that in NO WAY requires you to purchase them are stupid as fuk. I didn't even know about them on Xbox till I loaded up the extras on the store. It is 100% a non issue that people are bitching about.

Is this game good as a standalone? I haven't played any of the previous releases...I may try out Human Revolution first. Basically im worried I will be missing an assload of backstory etc. I could always just read the plots of the first ones i guess.

If you didn't play human revolution, there is a 12 minute video at the start of mankind divided that fills you in on all the backstory. I watched it just to refresh my memory and it pretty much covers all the important parts

I've had one bug that won't go away. Half the civilians won't respond when trying to talk to them, and the guy in the TF29 base in front of the cork board with all the ongoing investigation won't respond either. Considering it's just filler and not something that drives the game, it's not a big deal

I just got to the place where ARC is located and didn't even realize there were micro transactions in this game.

Pulled the pin on it, think the cdkey version I got comes with some doc stuff but going to play without it for now. Left settings alone for now on high, looks good and stays above 40 fps on a 290x. Does need vsync on though otherwise get horrible tearing, even in videos.

I think the bigger issue is that between the focus DLC and pre-orders the QA on the main game in recent AAA titles has been a lower priority. After a few hours of playing I'm noticing a few glitches that really should have been picked up in testing. Not game killers, but it's not as polished as HR was when it came out, and that was hardly the most efficient game at the time.


Will keep playing around, hopefully they drop a few more patches and I'll start a new serious play through after that. Might even upgrade to Win10 for this if DX12 shows it's worth it. Apart from that might be time for looking at better cooling for the old GPU, pretty sure it's throttling in the more intense parts.

it's pretty standalone. granted that you watch the 12 minute recap video in the beginning.

but i recommend playing deus ex: human revolution just because it was an awesome game. but so far definitely not necessary to understand what's going on. the recap video is very informative.

I think I got HR for free on PS+ back on my PS3... never played it. Might give it a shot on PC first then. Im sure its cheap.

I'd play HR first, while the video covers the story you'd be missing out on an awesome game. The directors cut made it a solid 9/10 for me, I'm even tempted to go back and play it again.

Besides that having played the start of both I think HR is a better intro to the style of game and gameplay in general.

Finished HR, which was my first DX game. Would HIGHLY recommend to anybody who hasn't played before and is interested, only 20$ on steam (and more than worth it). Story was really good, maybe some loose ends that didn't get tied but it was a good story and it was really hard for me to stop playing, even when I knew i had to go to bed 2 hours ago.

From a lot of the reviews I've read, it seems Mankind has a much weaker plot/story than HR. Anybody confirm/deny?
