I just need some encouragement, I don't want to quit lifting. I just started 2 months ago lifting weights again. I was squatting 100 lbs and now after a very recent heartbreak I can barely lift 50lbs
Has anyone been through this? What motivated you or what kind of music did you listen to?
I'm so very sad, it feels like I have the flu

Sorry for your heartbreak.
Everyone heals and finds motivation in different things. Some need to take time away before getting back into things, others can use fitness activities to help push through. It varies. Lifting and many fitness activities are very "me" orientated, which is probably why they can help give a person some focus away from certain things. Plus it provides goals, feedback and ways to see development.
Music wise, I vary. For lifting the louder music seems to be ideal as many listen to hard rock, metal, etc. EDM can also work out fine. I've listened to emo too during lifting but some of the songs might be the wrong trigger when coming from a break up. Then again, I sometimes listen to musicals even while lifting. Jekyll & Hyde has a good one for a one rep deadlift. And if just going for feeling happier, it's hard to beat Seussical the Musical.Gym Max: 229/126/305

personally i like to use lifting/training as an escape from heartbreak when it does occur. i head to the gym or track and completely shut out everything thats not lifting. whatever is happening with the SO isnt important right now because im lifting. phones on do not disturb because im not gonna let that **** disturb me! just for those few hours i am an island onto myself and no one can bother me.
as for music, i like either popish style, avenged sevenfold, or underground rap
now i say that but we all know sometimes you cant help but think about the breakup and in those times i dont now what to do myself so i cant offer any advice!

I'm sorry you are feeling this way. In the past when I've felt this way, I actually took it out on the treadmill, running until I thought my heart would explode. Angry music helped me feel better, and I'm sure the exertion of lifting heavy shiz would make me feel better too. Maybe tell yourself you'll go to the gym for 10 minutes and reassess. I bet it would make you feel better overall. Hope this passes for you soon, heartbreak sucks

I'm so sorry for whatever it is that you are going through. If you are sad because of the loss of a loved one or pet or relationship ending you may need a support group to help you get through it. Your energy is being zapped because you are sad. Don't let the sadness and negativity overtake you. Focus on other things. If you don't want to stop lifting, then don't. Even if you have to force yourself to do it at first. You will feel better after the workout. If you go to a gym to workout, try to talk to other people and make conversation. This always helps to focus on other things other than what you are going through. Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon.
