So much of success in the NFL depends on players staying healthy (luck mostly). Kikaha, Anthony, Lewis, Rankins all down before week 1. Not looking good so far...ugh

This happens to us every year. I know it's just football but can't remember the last time our defense stayed healthy. I wouldn't care as much about the Rankin's injury as I have a feeling it's not that bad but this is crucial development time for him

That offense was quite literally unstoppable. Defense was suspect (just like the packers) and it cost both of our teams. I remember the 49ers that year literally had the best defense in the NFC and when the saints werent having bonehead turnovers they were moving it at will vs the 9ers like they were the titans or something. I dont think there was 1 game where the saints didnt gain a minimum of 350+ yards. I remember the saints had clobbered the giants 49-24 a few weeks earlier before playoffs began, just a horrific match up for the giants. They are lucky alex smith went god mode in that 4th quarter. Epic game.

Letting graham and sproles go was a big mistake. Offense hasnt been the same really since sproles left IMO, but graham hurt even worse.

I am going to have to disagree BIG TIME. Graham was amazing for the saints, but we definitely got the better end of the trade from the seahawks. We got a probowl center (protect the brees= how you win games) and a first round pick (anthony) who was one of the few bright spots on our defense last year. Plus we didn't lose much production from graham either with Watson stepping up in a big way. Wish we still had Watson because that man could actually block unlike Graham. Pretty sure Graham was a locker room cancer too when the saints were losing.

Anyways, i am excited for this year! Anyone going to any games? I was in the super dome last year when brees threw 7 td against the gaints. I'll be in SF this year to watch our boys whoop up on the fourtywhiners, and hopefully make it down to San Diego for that game as well.

I'm still living in 2009. On the bright side this defense can only get better. You can't be worse than allowing kirk cousins to throw a TD pass on every drive.

Agreed.. this defense has no way to go but up.. Thankfully, Fairley is looking pretty decent so far, so that'll be a huge bonus now that Sheldon is out.

No.. not worried about that at all.. I would hope that Drew would want to stay with Sean and this offense until he retires.. Especially now that we have a few young guns on both sides of the ball.. With us having cap space next season, it could just be a waiting game on the exact details on the contract.. Rumors are that he hasnt signed due to the length of the contract offered so far; heard Saints were at 4 years and Drew's camp want 5.. This could just be speculation though.. Always a little unsettling with our superstar unsigned for next season, but i have confidence..

Career? Thomas will only have Drew for 10 more seasons (joking joking).. probably 4ish more seasons and no idea if Grayson will turn into a viable NFL starter or not.. Brock has a chance to be really good IMO..

You are the only person who thinks Brock will be good lol. I expect him to struggle this season because offensive line issues but he probably has the strongest arm of any qb we have had here since David Carr.

Anyone watch the second pre season game? I was in tahoe all weekend, so I missed the fights and the game. I saw the score, but i am more interersted in how our first team players looked.

Defense looked okay. Offense was a bag of ass in all aspects. They better tighten up or its gonna be a tough season.

Offense was non-existent due to horrendous offensive line play. Brees will last 4 weeks tops if it continues like that. Andrus Peat looks like a pretty big bust out there and Tim Lelito is even worse. However, the defense could actually be really good compared to what we are used to seeing out there. Once Rankins and Anthony are healthy the D could be really good.

But bottom line is, I think we need to trade for a veteran guard ASAP. If they don't do that, at least let them play the same positions from week to week so they can have a chance of gelling before week 1. With good offensive line play, we'd be tough to beat. With the offensive line play from Saturday, we are going 5-11

damn that bad huh? I agree, O-line has been pretty weak the last couple year. Peat looking like a bust. I knew I was SMH for a reason when we drafted him. Hopefully the offensive line and gel up before the season starts.
