    Something Something Dangerzone

    Welcome!
So I decided to start a new journal. Largely because there's a lot of backstory in the old one that I feel I've moved forward a lot from, and want to leave behind me. I still have off days, we all do in our own ways, but I want to focus on where I am now, and where I'm going from here.

Thing to note, new readers may notice my workouts are labeled as at "Jay's" or "Home." Jay is my boyfriend, and we don't currently have a place of our own yet, despite a lot of searching, and disappointing listings. I spend time at his place, but when he's at work I spend time at my dad's. For reasons. Plus more freedom to do what I need to (cook, lift, etc), and more privacy to do these things. Workout's vary depending on where I am, because of the equipment at either place.

    Current Stuff:
    Status: Bulking

    Current Program:
    Adjusted version of PHUL.

    Current Supps:
    Creatine
    Protein Powder (When needed.)
I occasionally take Six Star PWO Explosion if I think my stomach can handle it.

    PRs:
    Bench: 85lbs
    Squat: 105lbs
    Deadlift (Sumo): 155lbs

    Next Goals:
    Bench: 100lbs
    Squat: 125lbs
    Deadlift: 175lbs

    Long Term/Being Optimistic
    Bench: 135lbs
    Squat: 200lbs
    Deadlift: 300lbs
Like I said, being optimistic. :P

    Other Strength Goals
    Pull Up
    Chin Up
    One Handed Push Up
    Pistol Squat
    Human Flag (Super Optimistic, lol)

Yay. Thanks for hoping over guys.

And yup, some pretty lofty goals there lol, but I've got a long time to get my strength up to that. Human flag though, that would be something.

Human flag... why not? It's one of my long term goals for sure. Nothing stopping you but yourself. ;-)

In the meantime I'm focusing on being able to do a chin up and pull up... one thing at a time!

Lol, yep, those are my first two. HF just seems so hard, gotta work on my core strength for that one (and overall strength, but definitely that too), don't want to be a limp flag. >.<

Also, while I should be working out right now, I checked the Champion Performance thread, and I got selected! On top of that so did ananda so I have a buddy with me in it! I'm so excited I'm gonna barf! Lol, not really, but I am super hyped.

    Monday - Upper Power - Jay's

    Lat Pulldown
    60lbs x 10
    60lbs x 10
    60lbs x 8

    Chest Press
    20lbs x 13
    20lbs x 13
    30lbs x 5

    OHPs
    46lbs x 10
    46lbs x 9
    46lbs x 8

    Pendlay Rows
    86lbs x 5
    86lbs x 5
    86lbs x 5

    BB Curls
    41lbs x 10
    41lbs x 10
    41lbs x 10

    Tricep Pulldowns
    30lbs x 9
    30lbs x 9
    30lbs x 9

Upped the Pendlay row weight, and looks like it can still go up. O.O LPDs were better this time, as were OHPs (at least I didn't screw up the weight this time, lol).
Was still careful with chest press, but the heavier set was alright on my shoulder so hopefully next time I don't have to go light.

Today - Lower Power - Home

    Glute Bridges
    77lbs x 60sec
    77lbs x 60sec
    77lbs x 60sec
    77lbs x 60sec
    77lbs x 30sec

    BB Hack Squats
    97lbs x 5
    97lbs x 5
    97lbs x 5
    97lbs x 3
    97lbs x 3

    Sumo Deadlifts
    127lbs x 4
    127lbs x 4
    127lbs x 3
    127lbs x 3
    127lbs x 3

So, as you can see, I dropped the accessories again. Partially for time, partially because I didn't feel like setting up for Bulgarian split squats, and playing balance, lol. Added sets though, and wow. I think the hack squats went really well, my quads were put to fluffin' work, lol. Still doing better with keeping form, and resetting between lifts. Thought I was gonna drop it a few times because my hands were so sweaty. >.< (I know, chalk helps, but I don't have any.)
Kind of thinking about doing this more often, focusing on these lifts on power days that it, and doing more of them. Maybe, I guess it depends on how I'm feeling that day.

I'll take the split squats over lunges. You'd think lunges would be easier to balance with, but I don't think so. lol

Thanks! Big fat no to lunges. At least split squats you have two contact points to balance on.

I also find that I have far too much of an issue trying not to lean forward with lunges. I keep my upper body up better with SS.

    Yay!
Practice makes better... but avoiding them altogether works too.

Nice set of sessions. Those are some pretty good pendlays. And as far as your lower, you did the important work. When I am tired I will do the same, only main lifts.
*Trying to stay sane and get back to avi status.

    DB Overhead Pulls

    20lbs x 7
    20lbs x 4

Hate doing the overhead pulls. I love them if I have a single dumbbell of sufficient weight to hold in both hands, but using two is such pain because you have to be so much more careful to not whack yourself in the head with one while you're concentrating on both. I just did them because I couldn't do Tate presses today.

I finally have all I need to make my squat rack. I had the buckets, concrete, posts, etc, but turns out we didn't have a screw gun, or screws here. Jay didn't need his today, so I get to use it. In case you're wondering what the screws are for, just to attach boards to keep the posts in place/level while the concrete dries. That little thing was holding me up. >.< Mixing concrete should be a fun top off after working arms, lol. Just wish me a ton of luck that it doesn't rain today, not a huge chance like 15%, but you never know with the weather.

Thanks I've been doing better with keeping my hips locked more so I don't swing my back, and bracing my core so I think that's helped me jump up my rows a bit. For some reason it's easier with heavier weight though hyper days I still have to work on not swinging, but that's mostly at first because the weight feels light in comparison to power days. Once I get to the second and third set it's better.

Given how challenging stairs are today, I'll take the lower workout as a major win. lol

Well, I got one done in the past hour. Learned some important things about mixing concrete, like don't overestimate your upper body strength vs the strength of fluffin' concrete. Also a bucket is a chit way to mix it. Also, not concrete related, but if that thing is even close to level I'll be happy with it. I did my best, but it's on uneven ground, then it'll be on my uneven floor, it's not gonna matter as long as the posts are upright and the hooks are even height so I don't care if it's not perfect. If it all holds up, and works, I'll consider that a victory.

Not gonna feel like cooking when I'm done, but I'm going to want to eat everything. >.<

I understand why some of the senior members need to take breaks from it from time to time. lol

And yeah, after two hours (the second hour being much easier) my back, and arms are shot. Picked a nice hot, humid, day for it too. To ease the mixing issue I mixed smaller amounts at a time in the bucket, tilted it, and rolled it back and forth like a concrete mixer. Still had to mix a few stubborn bits with a stick, but overall it was far more convenient. I'm happy though, mostly because I said I'd do it, and I did. I tend to get ideas in my head that I don't follow through with, lol. Still have to add the hooks, but the hard part is done. Should be doing back squats again next lower power day and that's fluffin' great. If it all holds up of course.

I don't have safeties yet, got ideas for it, but not the money, but If I place everything right I can do a box squat type deal with my bed so I can toss it back if I need to. I'm not trying for failure so I should be alright if I'm careful, but chit does happen.

Time to make some foooood! This chick is hungry.

I didn't read the stickies when I first joined either, but I didn't ask a million (or any really) questions, or say something, get advice, and keep doing the same things, etc. I just lurked all the time, and read everyone else's threads, and responses.
Later on I read the stickies, sometime around when I felt comfortable enough to start posting, but still I read and learned first.

I don't get too bothered by newbies with the same questions we always see, and I don't mind helping the people who really want help. Usually it's calorie deficit and lift heavy, or calorie surplus and lift heavy, and maybe knocking out some of the common myths, and explaining proper tracking. Stuff that annoys me over time is the necroposting, especially when the person isn't just asking the same question, they're responding to someone who posted five, six, seven years ago. Also when people give advice, take the time to rewrite all the info in the stickies for someone, and they just seem to ignore it, or flat out tell you they're blowing it off. Like, why even ask then? Plus the occasional guy who just found out there was a female forum, and mistakes it for the general misc.

    Yay for food indeed!

Yeah, though it's amusing when threads containing myths about stuff like fat loss start to get into chit that you've never heard. You know the ones you see, and you just laugh because you never heard that particular piece of ridiculous nonsense. lol

Oh yeah, post necromancy drives me nuts. I think its a new thread and start to respond and then I see that it's from 10 years ago. I feel like people are just trying to up their post counts and don't think anyone will notice, when all they have to do is start a journal and then they can post whore the heck out of it.

You have more patience than I do. I had a hard time reading the stickies at first because they are so elementary, but I learned most of everything by reading journals and lurking. I have posted questions before, but half the time (or even more) I start to write a post and then realize that my answer is just time and consistency and tracking results.

Hi Luna! I see you EVERYWHERE including the Champion promo, subbing to this log! Oooo so intrigued that you're building your own squat rack. Have never mixed concrete before but am very aware due to the shenanigans of others that you should not eat it (it is NOT cupcake frosting! ), and definitely don't get it on your skin because it'll burn the fuk outta you even though it'll take hours to notice anything awry.

I see glute bridges up there with weight added. Where/how/what?! I recently became able to do a regular glute bridge for 60 seconds. Can't imagine holding extra wt in addition to all the shaking, cursing, and crying during glute bridges lulz.
    Current PRs:
    Bench Press: 200x1
    Deads: 315x1
    Back Squats: 275x1

Yeah saying it's one of the best group of loggers I've been associated with would be an understatement, about to witness something of epic proportions far exceeding Pokemon go.
