    Titan fitness vs rogue fitness

Rogue SML-2C with SAML spotter arms for $692 then upgrade it later to RML-390F for additional $413 (shipping included) or Titan T-3 with spotter arms and dip handles for $479.

One option is a quality piece of equipment that will last a life time. The other is a cheap, nasty POS that may endanger your life if you fail on a heavy lift.

Can you guess which one is which?

The difference in price in my opinion is well worth it to get a quality product and great customer service... Plus supporting American workers too No comparison... Rogue

I didn't think there was even a question.

    Of those two...

Rogue, if you can afford it, or something else if you can't.

I honestly can't think of a time when Titan would even be one of my choices.

    Ridiculous (roll eyes)

OP - If you want a 3x3 rack, get the Rogue. If you want a 2x3 rack your choice is between the R-3 & the T-3. From there it's totally your call. Both racks will do EXACTLY the same thing with the same safety aspects. Rogue's powder coat finish is nicer than Titan's. The T-3 is substantially less expensive than Rogue. That's pretty much the long and the short of it. No shame in either/any of the choices.

Substantially less expensive? You mean cheaper in production cost, value and benefit to the potential corpse.

In the voice of chicken little "the sky is falling, the sky is falling!" No, I mean substantially less expensive. Substantially less marketing, excellent value and benefit, and when the "corpses" start stacking up, I'll concern myself about imminent death.

It's function over fashion. 11 gauge 2x3 steel is what it is.

They have increased a good bit in quality from when they were first made. Their racks are actually being used in a few black iron gyms I know of (untamed strength has one, for instance), and I know several very strong folks using them.

If you're on a budget, I think they're actually the best value option on the market right now.

Edit: one of my coach friends who has a preference for Eleiko bars and SBD accessories said he would open a gym with all Titan racks.

I've had it for a while and the only thing it's missing is some of the nicer attachments which you can get from rogue. The powder coat is coming off on some area's, and the pipe was the only thing to get here with surface rust.

So far about 5 people with varying strength used it it's great.

After I add a monkey chin and swing in safety's it will be awesome

Edit: the only reason I didn't go with rogue was I didn't want to pay for the shipping or wait until black Friday for the free shipping

    I would go with Rogue.

That said, from everything that I've read Titan has made a number of improvements and their equipment is much improved from the past few years. The hate was warranted in the past, but it's probably overblown these days.

I respect Daniels opinion very much and very rarely disagree.... BUT HERE I DO! Yes, the Rogue is better in every measurable way but functionality. The welds are serviceable and safe and the company has done a tremendous amount to improve the product. The cosmetics are very mediocre. If you have the money, go Rogue, if not the Titan 2x3 is a terrific value

I recently purchased the titan T-3. I was somewhat uncomfortable considering there past performance and the love they get on here.

All welds look good from a functional stand point. Weld penetration looks good, all weld are complete. I had planned on going over any shoddy looking welds but did not see the need to. I had also planned on welding it where it bolts together for more support but after bolting to platform i did not see a need.

The paint is kinda ****ty and chips easy. Not a huge problem for me but may be for others.

Also the spotter arms are only adjustable in 2 inch increments but i believe rogue spotter arms have the same issue. I may just drill another hole above the current one and barrel diegrind it smooth to mimic what mech6 does on his arms.

Over all I am very satisfied with it.

I get that the Rogue is much better quality, but I'm going to guess that the Titan is "adequate".

A generation ago we were squatting from stands, and benching from those benches with the uprights and no spotters. Having any power rack represents a huge step forward in safety. I think we should embrace the low end stuff, as it's much better than doing it the old-fashioned way.

I propose that we should devise a way to test for shoddy workmanship, welding primarily. This probably isn't a factor in saber or pipe/pin safeties, but maybe the wing-in style and J-cups need testing? How about laying them on the floor and hitting with a sledge with a 2x4 to keep the concrete an paint from being damaged?

i also think the titan has some value, but honestly if you have the funds, there are plenty of options between Rogue and Titan.

buying a squat stand now and upgrading it to a full rack is a lot of money to drop on a single rack with no weight storage, so even if you went Rogue i would recommend just going with the r-3 right off the bat.

for the money, i think that the Williams Strength Old School 3x3 seems like a decent buy, it's not perfect, but you get a lot more rack for the money.

The Williams (slash elite fts) is about $1100ish shipped and has 3" hole spacing.

I noted a while ago that if someone else has a T3/R3 you could split the cost of a second T3 rack and turn your rack into a 3-post that way. That would put you at $600 for a T3 with weight storage. $500 savings will nearly buy an Eleiko barbell.

I've been looking at the Williams rack, what gets the price up so much is the shipping. In looking at the Titan, if you order two it's still only $800 plus you would get the 4 storage posts on each side, 2 pairs of j-hooks and it looks like you could even use one of the extra pull up bars as a rear stabilizer. That's still $300 cheaper. Are there other 3-post options that are comparable?

If you have the money, go Rogue, if not the Titan 2x3 is a terrific value
I second this. Rogue is a fantastic product. And I absolutely love buying American. However, I have a family to feed and the system has figured out a way to squeeze every last dollar. When I did a cost comparison AFTER shipping the price was 1/2 on the titan fitness T3. For my purchasing power this was a no brainer and I had to give it a shot. So far after a few months the thing is built like a tank and I would do the purchase again. Welds seem great, as mentioned some powder coating issues are noticed b ut still not worth twice as much to potentially alleviate that issue.

I had the Titan T3 for over a year now and I have no issues with it. Admittedly, I'm not moving the same weight as some others on here, but I can't imagine any safety issues for someone who lifts a lot more weight. I was about to get the R3 before hearing about the improvements Titan made after their disastrous initial rollout. Once I saw enough to be convinced that the major issues had been fixed, I got the T3.

I have products from both places. Love my Rogue flat bench and Matt Chan bar and think they were easily worth what I paid. I just didn't see the value in the R3 compared to the T3 in terms of the price difference. I still had $ left over after getting additional storage posts and spotter arms to turn the T3 into a half rack with storage like I really wanted.

If the R3 wasn't significantly more expensive, I might have ended up with the R3. In the end, it's just about how much money you want to spend. There's no debate that the Rogue stuff is better made and have better finishes. Much better resale value too. Safer? There's some debate about that.
