If DC wins in some legitimate fashion, it will likely be my favorite moment in MMA history.
It has very little to do with Jones for me. I want to see DC get that validation he already deserves.

I have, and as a result I've been watching DC since his very early fights in SF (I remember when his entrance into mma was just a rumor here on the forum).
And to see him become one of the best fighters to ever enter into mma (ya'rly) has been a pleasure. The only thing better would be to see him finally convince the stragglers.
Seriously think about it. He flatlined the HW division with QUALITY wins over people like Mir, Barnett, Bigfoot, etc when they were still top 5 fighters. Then he starches everybody in a second division. Everybody except the one get most people say is the best fighter on earth.
So the guy who is arguably the 2nd best fighter on earth gets ridiculed on a daily basis and gets no respect on social media and from the fans because he lost to the best fighter on earth. DC is the ONLY fighter to really wreck the competition in two weight classes besides Silva and Silva didn't fight the best when he moved weight classes. DC has fought and beaten the best at both weight classes.
He deserves as much respect as anybody in the game for what he's accomplished (srs).

Been watching DC since his Black Fedor days. I'm highly upset that he a Jon Jones became enemies because they're two of my favorite fighters, though I've swung between cheering for either. I miss Jon's TDs and hellacious elbows on the ground. He could literally put anyone away like that. Once it got to the ground, it was over.
I can understand fans trashing him because of his sense of entitlement and bitterness. I try to ignore what fighters do outside. All top 4 LHWs have some kind of vice anyway lol.

i feel like everyone is underestimating dc but lets see how the fight goes on fight night. also nothing is wrong with him crying ive seen many fighters cry over a win or a lost. i don't blame dc for getting emotional after his loss. he had some short comings and tragedies in his life.

I agree, DC doesn't get the respect he deserves and he is on a great run and he has done it at a later age, he's also tiny for the division/s he competes in. His wins over monsters like Gustafsson and Rumble alone should make the fans respect him, guarantee you all the fans who trash him will be on his dick if he managed to beat Jones, just like they trashed Nate before he kicked Conor's ass.

I agree with your general point but I think you overestimate his accomplishments at HW. You simply cannot be said to have 'flatlined' the HW division without beating Junior or Cain at that time. Mir, Barnett and Silva went on to accomplish basically nothing in the division (save for Silva's questionable victory over a clowning Ubereem). It's impressive for a small man to win fights against giants but he did not clean house.
I think his lack of appreciation stems from an absence of charisma (frequent whining and even rumors of tears) and his grinder style rather than a perceived deficiency in skill. It also doesn't help that Jones, the successful psychopath that he is, has succeeded in pitting a large number of fans against Daniel.

Agreed. I was thinking #1 fighter right now.
But yeah I agree with him in the sense that I think having success in two different divisions is a big deal. DC and Frankie Edgar (especially if Frankie ends up becoming the undisputed champ at 145) will be the two most successful fighters in more than one weight class if I'm not mistaken.
A few defenses for Frankie at 145 has to push him into the conversation with GSP and Anderson and DJ considering what he did at 155.Last edited by Black_Spit; 07-04-2016 at 01:40 PM.
