Sounds like it prompts the rhomboids to work more closely with the traps.

    You do Barbell Hack Squats?
I liked the secondary back work as it feels like it's upper back, traps, lats rather than the usual destroying the lower back and spinals.
After sleeping on it though, I think it'll be used more as a quad finisher rather than a primary lift due to possibly limiting grip strength as weight progresses and overall depth (unless I use platforms).

Years ago I'd use the Hammer Strength squat/lunge for shrugs which was convenient but when gyms closed I bought a trap bar and got hooked on doing them that way. Do you ever do high reps on shrugs?

I rarely go heavier than a 5RM on anything these days. Occasionally I might test a 3RM. Most sets are 6-10, higher on isolation exercises, and I'll go as high as 60-70 reps on shrugs.

Even with a heavier set I usually leave a couple of reps in the tank. Never max out on anything. Feels better to know I could do more vs. failing a rep.

That workout I did 3 sets of 5 plates (100kg) x 5 then 3 plates for 25. Normal rep range is 4 plates x 12 for 4 sets. If I ever do a triple it's with a weight well shy of failure which is the whole point of programming for strength gains.

Not sure what the obsession is with low reps or maybe you're confusing me with someone else here. I got hooked on higher volume 15 years ago following Hola's workouts. I rarely train really heavy or max out which is probably why I'm still going after 20 years. It's like taking your car down the drag strip chasing a 9 second quarter mile. I'm content with 80-90% of its performance. I'm not a powerlifter.

I was just curious if you tried high reps on shrugs since most people stop at 10 reps on them and wonder why they won't grow.

I've never done that high of reps. The most I'll usually do is around 15 for any given exercise. I love high volume, but the higher the rep range the harder it is to be honest with myself about taking sets to "failure"
    I don't know either lol

I do 50 rep bench dips.

I was doing alternating pistols squats one at a time and got up to 60 for a short while.

I find the overall trend to build a home gym pretty commendable overall with Covid and gym shutdowns. Really a protests of these sorts isn't much different.

    What the hellsa vax passport?

I train at home nowadays. I have a safety squat bar. A rogue rack. A rep bench. Rubber coated plates. Adjustable dbs. Real boojie.

I love when the taabs visit, ez win, 6-1. Although tonight could be a different story with all the WRs out against 7-0 az.

It's a decent chunk of money. Probably like 20k to get a decent set up. I will do it soon though

Same....invested in a leg curl/extension, lever arms and power blocks to go the rack and ssb/mgb/TPB. Cable set up integrated into the rack, still need a functional trainer and to kick the wife's car outside, lol.

Everybody has to start somewhere. That's the great thing about a home gym you don't have to put the 20k down all at front.

Lots of businesses struggling because of the vaxx passports here. Mrs Flex wants to go to the local pub this weekend and spread some money around and I told her I'm not going to d/l the vaxx pass. She said she won't either but she wants to go. I am torn.

    Everything is crazy here.

Government seems like they're finally easing up on the restrictions (except passports and masking) and people are going nuts. So many are scared to death and want all the restrictions to remain in place. I feel like 80% of the population has mass psychosis.

Hope you are doing well, brother.
The basement dwellers are why I replied in here. I'm in full agreement with everything you said Flex but at the same time I feel for small business owners who don't want to discriminate but with threats of heavy fines have no choice and if they fail they'll be yet another casualty the government has no sympathy for. The people making these decisions haven't spent a single minute worrying about their income and will retire on a fat pension. They have zero sympathy.

I don't know if they talk much about Australia over there but the situation here is pretty much the same. Some of the stuff they've proposed is quite unsettling. They might have started out with the right intentions of managing a health crisis but now they're on a power trip.
