I try my best. As for the ol' dipstick there's no fill plug on my front differential. It goes in through the... dipstick hole. Ditto for the transmission.

This is important stuff. Take note so you can service your mom's stationwagon.

I mostly just paid attention to the Avengers movies for the first and second one. Then after that I started watching all the movies and now I feel like it takes a long time for the sequels to come out for the standalone movies. I think Spiderman's the only one that's had 2 movies since 2015. I saw Ant Man 2, but not Ant Man which came out after Avengers 2. Also I have seen both Guardians of the Galaxies movies, but the first one came out in 2014.

Damn it was the start of 2014 so 5 1/2 years. Hard to believe that much time has passed. You can't do a drive-by post without giving us a proper update. You obviously didn't stop training like a lot of people here which is good to see.

Training more or less 6 days a week between 2 different gyms and my own garage gym. My middle son and stepson are now in their early 20's and both are training regularly now too; since last October.

I've competed 7 times since I was banned and got injured in 2017 while attempting a 605 squat; tore my groin but finished the competition. Came back in 2018 with a 1580 total at 50 years old; 620/345/615 and that had me ranked 2nd in the US for my age/weight/class. I haven't competed since due to work commitments and timing issues. But I will compete again.

Changed jobs twice but I've been at my current job since October 2016 and things are going well. Still together with Miss LisaSkinnoble and we are celebrating 14 years together next month. She still trains with me but her back has been giving her some issues so no more powerlifting for her.
Did the biceps tear on deadlifts? I couldn't remember if you did any strongman training as well because I've seen it also happen flipping tires and loading stones. 620/345/615 @ 50 is a great achievement.

I wish I could say I was even half that disciplined since you've been away but I took nearly 4 years off during 2015-2018. Started training again this year and won't be stopping again. It was pretty humbling getting back in there but it feels good now. I log my workouts but don't follow a program — I train whatever I feel like training and depending on how the warmups go I'll go heavy, go for a higher rep PR, or focus on volume.

Life is good indeed. We were discussing the C8 in here a few weeks ago. Mid-engine will upset the Corvette faithful but it's something I always wanted to see from Chevy after Ford brought back the GT.

That Z06 is beautiful. re: C8 I'm sure there will be some teething issues with a clean sheet design like the transmission so looking at it in a few years after the hype has died down is the way to go. The good news here is they're finally building them in RHD for this part of the world.

You won't get big eating 100% healthy unless you've got a full time chef preparing meals for you or you live at a restaurant. Look at all those IFBB pros who have their wife/gf cooking for them while they brag about eating clean. Left to their own devices it'd be protein shakes, slop, rinse repeat.

Anyway I've been making all my own meals for some time now now but once I started training again I realized I needed a little slop in there once or twice a week to get the calories up. KFC/McDonald's/Burger King is still on the banned list. I won't be eating any of that again. Pizza and the occasional Subway — yes.

My goal was to get as big and as strong as possible so diet reflected that. At least 8000 calories a day. 3-4 2hr workouts a week lifting heavy took care of the rest. I lost weight when I stopped training, waist size went down, and still looked like I was lifting.

Here's a potato quality progress shot a couple of weeks after joining a gym in January. Didn't waste away.

Do you go for protein heavy stuff, or just try to get as much food in general?

I eat pizzas by the whole when I order them. I'm not sure how much protein that is though.

I plan most meals around protein but the junk is for the calories. You need a surplus to build muscle. You need a certain amount of protein to build muscle. You also need testosterone to build muscle and a diet low in fat is not going to cut it since androgens are synthesized from cholesterol.

Getting back to your diet I think there's nothing wrong with eating a pizza if you're going to train that day or if your diet is primarily clean and you're just adding pizza to get more calories or for the simple fact that you enjoy eating it.

Yeah I'd have to assume that you're getting enough protein in. I guess the only difference is if you got it all bunched up between 1-2 meals or you had it throughout the day. Like most any type of Italian food is going to load you up on carbs with protein coming only from cheese and meat but only meat as more of a flavoring agent. Not a big fan of curry for that matter, and most "hearty" soups are pretty disappointing as well. In a burrito alone I've always liked how you can get like 3-4 separate sources of protein and fiber. Maximizing protein and fiber and from a variety of sources has a good overlap with fats and carbs.

You'll probably enjoy this article about Joe Thomas: getting up to 310 to play ball at Wisconsin, and then 325 for the nfl, back down to 255 after retiring from a hall of fame career with the browns.

No idea why he'd want to lose much more than that because he looks good. At 6'6" with a decent frame 255 isn't really that heavy. It's like 215-220 at 6ft. Heavy if you don't lift weights, have narrow shoulders, sh*t genetics, etc., sure, but he doesn't fit that category.

My theory is you can probably get away with having one vice. Like alcohol, smoking, deep-fried food, etc. but it's when you start stacking them that you run into problems. The biggest changes I made to my diet was no KFC/McDonald's, no milk, no caffeine, and no energy drinks. I don't drink much and these days rarely more than 3-4 beers every couple of months. Had a blood test 18 months ago and cholesterol was low. It's always been normal but I was kind of surprised to see an L there. Normal range = 3.9-5.5 mmol/L and it was 3.2.

I doubt cigarettes has much to do with stuff. Unless you're smoking at least a pack a day or something.

It's a crapshoot. Some people develop lung cancer early and have never smoked a day in their life. That one would be highest on my list to avoid however. I understand cigars for special occasions but I don't get smoking cigarettes.

Over here they're locked away behind the counter and packaged in boxes stripped of all branding with anti-smoking messages and a pack of 25 costs $30. So a pack a day habit costs you $900 a month. On a normal salary that probably doesn't leave much for health insurance so when the lungs pack it in someone has to pick up the tab.

Cigarette packs are being stripped of advertising around the world. But not in the US.

You weren't talking long-term health though, just weight control? Get a cheeseburger, fries, shake, and a beer, definitely that stuff adds up. Smoking is only bad for your lungs (and yeah oral and other good stuff) though, and it's long term (and genetics as it seems to be still). I'd bet respiration is compromised from smoke damage, but that takes quite a bit for mid-term effects. Not to mention that nicotine can serve as a stimulant itself, though I never benefited from it when I smoked.

It was great how he showed the general public how much easier and faster it is to drop the weight than to accumulate it.
