Ribeye cap is king but most of the time I buy tenderloin. The key is finding thick circular cuts with some marbling. I'll eat 2-3 of those for around 350-500g. The thicker the cut the heavier you can go on the seasoning.
Arnold's Encyclopedia is the first book I read on training. My neighbor introduced me to the gym and would bring his copy to the gym to make sure we were doing the exercises properly. As a stringbean starting out the first time I saw the likes of Dorian, Nasser, and Levrone in there they didn't seem real. It was like being broke and reading a book on billionaires ā I couldn't see any way what they were doing could apply to me but Arnold's words were very motivating. Anyway he gave me a copy for Christmas the following year which I still have but it's falling apart. Arnold must have insisted his publisher use the cheapest glue and binding to save a few bucks.
It holds sentimental value because he's no longer around. We trained together for 2 years and trying to keep up with his 6 days a week 2 hour workouts copying training splits from that book was tough but it built up discipline that has kept me going all these years later. I also believe doing nearly all my training in those years for 3+ sets of 8-12 reps laid a great foundation, all those repetitions fine tuned my form, and it's a big reason why I never had a serious injury. Too many people want to go heavy and start maxing out.

Wow nice. I didn't buy my copy until 6-7 years ago (so it's still holding up) after reading archived posts of D1 schooling the rookie posters that it worked and worked for him. I never really followed any of the programs exactly though, or at least not for extended periods of time.

Since the risk of injury at that level is so high he definitely did the right thing calling it there. It also leaves the door open to financial incentives down the road to break it.
To my eye I think he was good for maybe another 5kg on the day and maybe a 510kg pull 2 weeks earlier in training with the music hyping him up but it'd probably be a grind which he wants to avoid. A lot of people seem to be forgetting he did this without a crowd.
While it's taken him 10 years to reach this point I've been following every video of his preparation over the last 6 months and he's been extremely professional. Most people would struggle to stick to the 10,000 calorie "vertical" diet which is mainly steak and rice and mass gainer shakes.
Easily the biggest ROM of any deadlift I've seen too. Pulls it a mile.

Over the past couple of weeks I've heard the police chopper hovering for extended periods of time at night and I'll bet they're using the infrared camera to spy on parks, rooftops, balconies, and backyards for gatherings of people. Fines here are $1330 per person not to mention other infringements that can be issued when they show up so it's a nice little earner for them. It's hard for a virus to spread when everyone is at home.

This sort of Big Brother level of government oversight is disturbing. I'd like to say that I could never imagine them trying or getting away with that here, but frankly I can see the day coming. And it's pretty clear that governments are using this as an opportunity to increase control / dependency. For example contact tracing / GPS tracking, lockdowns and rules which really only need to apply to population dense areas being applied to rural areas with very little issues, etc.
I wonder if these big stimulus packages to give people checks could wind up turning into higher taxes and government provided basic income. And you just know that the "universal healthcare" argument will come up yet again.
Ironically, there is a lot of talk about more border control and decreasing dependency on China. Should be amusing to see how the Democrats are going to swing their stance around to stuff Trump was already doing...☠ By reading this post, you have agreed to my negative reputation terms of service.

He was discovered in a gym by Magnus Ver Magnusson who won World's Strongest Man 4 times. He was always very technical so he wouldn't have let him lift like that for long. He's also good friends with Stefan Solvi Petursson who competed in WSM. Both those men were there for the 501. Magnusson was the referee.
Spoiler!
The deadlift looks like such a simple lift but obviously a lot can go wrong especially approaching maximal weights. Unless someone is perfectly built for them, outside of PL I'd never recommend pulling a barbell from the floor with a conventional stance unless it's a moderate weight for sets of 5 ideally with someone keeping an eye on their form.
Most lifters should pull off bumper plates or blocks that elevate the bar 2-4 inches, or even better use a trap bar, or focus more on RDLs with strict form. It all comes down to risk vs. reward. Some people will stubbornly grind away playing Russian roulette with their lower spine. Sometimes sh*t happens and it's unavoidable but if there are safer options for similar results then people should take advantage of them.

I watched Magnus compete many times. Strongman comps were always my favorite to watch. I love the Atlas stones.
Iāve read that many times about conventional. I prefer to lift conventional but Iām not pulling really any weight, I stay in the 150-175lbs range. I always remember the cues from the guy who taught me how to DL, hips over the bar, drag the calves. If I want to pull heavy, I do rack pulls from right below my knees. Then Iām good for 225-250. I canāt pull Sumo, itās just feels too weird
Right now, without the gym, I just use my sandbags. I have a 50 and a 35.
Hopefully, gyms will be open in a June but who knows."It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others"

I found this pretty interesting. The data table within the midsize segment of US sales from the 1st quarter:
1. Camry 77,188
2. Altima 47,346
3. Accord 47,125
That's quite a lead. Looks like the cvt's can't compete with king kam.DR. 3time

It's been over 10 years since I helped anyone with training so it's been interesting to witness beginner gains again specifically +90lbs on a deadlift 5RM in 6 weeks. I love seeing it but I explained linear progression like that is unsustainable and if it continued like that for another year he'd be pulling 1000 for reps. He asked why and I cited injuries, genetic ceiling/natty limits for a given weight, burning out, loss of motivation, the list goes on.
A great photo to put that in perspective is the one of Thor after his 501kg lift. The bar is loaded with 25kg plates. At the end of 2009 he could pull 6 of those plates with horrible form. It took him another 10 years to add another 3 more 25kg plates a side and a little change to that bar ā and that's 10 years with incredible genetics and the best training, nutrition, supplements, etc. 5 years to add another 25kg plate after hitting 450kg.
Spoiler!
Everyone's goals are different but for me longevity has always been important. I can't lift what I did 10 years ago on some exercises but I'm still within striking range and if I fully committed to it I probably could. However for me it's important to avoid injury and continue to enjoy lifting. Many pushed it harder and now live in pain or can no longer lift. Lifting weights is obviously not a risk free endeavor so you continually have to assess the level of risk and consider how long you want to be doing this.

Luke Stoltman just attempted to break Big Z's log press record... with Big Z as the referee.
Savickas has held the record in the log press for 15 years now, breaking his own records along the way. That has to be one of the most impressive achievements in strength sports.
2:30 in this video says it all.

+ so funny how the base accords goes to a 1.5 turbo and cvt all in the name of efficient mpg power, and still falls short to king cams 2.5 8 speed auto in both HP and MPG. We all know adding all the special technology adds to an increased probability of breakdown for a daily driver vehicle. But I'll give honda a break on the engine, as they probably make the best overall engines in the world. Honda lovers would best be served by opted for the standard tranny though.
