When you get a little older you can start playing with certain options and other hedging strategies that will allow you to either gain or minimize loss when prices drop. Not a bad skill to learn during the BIDEN administration.

Would love to learn about options. This is just my play money so it's not a big deal (I let the financial professionals do their thing) but I hate "not knowing" things or only "partially understanding" things. A little knowledge can be dangerous. Teach away, O!

There isn't one example of government running something better than a private business. Not one. The only thing the gov't should run, are things the people NEED but are not profit makers (i.e. military).

I believe there wasn't supposed to be an economic connotation for the way he used treatment. Though looking at how it's framed, it is somewhat of a dichotomy.

Anyways I think he meant to juxtapose government/public more broadly recognizing marginalized social interest groups and government/public leaning more protectionist pro-business economic policy.

I'm completely good with COTUS' framework for what the gov't should/should not be involved in.

But, the government does not "grant" us rights. The Bill of Rights is a reminder list of inalienable rights, not a list of "things the government has decided to let you do". It was added when they realized that "people may be so stupid at some time as to need these things spelled out for them".

Government running things that aren't profitable is an institutionalized economic principle framework. Military, police, roads, are all examples of market failures. Market principles themselves are fledged greatly into societal structures, to varying degrees no doubt; the US being historically distinct with its regard for property and contract. It gels nicely with the overarching union organization of the United States. It makes every provision the government establishes painstakingly thorough with consideration towards a private entity.

Progressive reform today a lot takes the form of recognizing civic provisions cultural or institutional that grow to marginalize specific demographics. The implementation of reforms around these issues principally aren't totally unlike the provisions for market failures, though, the US's painstaking structure does lead to distinct frustrations that don't really manifest the same as the next comparable market unions, and the issues are undoubtedly still rooted in cultural friction. The institutional oversights have become increasingly easier to expose with proliferation of the information/communication age since they're structured critically and objectively on a policy basis, but the cultural aspect is understandably firm standing.
