I track real progress with straight sets. Pick the heaviest weight I can use for reps and stick with it for the remainder of sets. I'll usually set a rep "tripwire" that once i can reach a certain number of reps with that weight I'll bump it up next time. First set is the "real" PR, but if I can't up the weight or the reps then i will try to:
-add more reps of a subsequent set/s
-add more sets with the same weight
-adjust rest times or some other variable
These are not real PR's in a sense of strict progression overload, but they at least give you a goal and sense of progress so you feel like you accomplished something each time.

That makes sense. My mindset was to track progress on the first set and then have some fun with the dropsets and do it all by feel and work the mind muscle aspect. For me, tracking everything after that would take the fun out of it and seemed to muddy the waters more from the accountability of the heavy set. Like I believe dommy eluded to when talking big picture, as long as the first set is going up for a lift, the higher rep work that follows will be correspondingly progressing as well over time.

Appreciate you going into detail. Normally I'd stick to discussing what I feel qualified to comment on however these mandates don't afford the average person the luxury of time to properly research the topic.
This is a great approach and makes perfect sense.
Which one did you get? I've always had a soft spot for the early 90s Ibanez UV7PWH although after 30 years most of them have turned yellow. One day I'll pull the trigger.

It’s an Ibanez but not the Universe. I’m sure it’s a cheaper model but it’s only $300 and included a line 6 amp so I figured screw it. A lot of the bands I like such as breaking Benjamin and starset use low tuning and I didn’t want to get a baritone guitar. The 7 string gives some good tuning options.
Edit: After googling it's the Ibanex AX7221 model, lower end for sure but still pretty solidLast edited by W8isGR8; 11-17-2021 at 02:16 PM.

I used to really hate it until I blocked mine. Now I like having the fine tuners. It's still a bit more effort restringing and you need a special tool to hold the saddle while adjusting the intonation. Hardtail FTW.
Yours is 24.75" which is why I'd recommend that 11-64 set. You'll get a tighter sound.

Makes sense with acoustic where you've usually got a higher action and wider neck. You have to find that sweet spot with string gauge where you still enjoy playing the thing.
11-49 feels right to me. Played 9s growing up since all my favorite players did and in recent years went as heavy as 13-62. Too much work. I only play the one guitar which started out life as a 90s Ibanez but I modified it with a custom neck, different pickups, and completely rewired it. You wouldn't think it was nearly 30 years old. That's the great thing about guitars. Unlike most of the stuff we own they won't suddenly become obsolete. 50 years from now a kid could plug it in and make music with it.

I'm so used to making small adjustments with a strobe tuner that going back to doing it at the headstock would feel like a step back now. A blocked Floyd is a lot like a headless and for me the tuning stability is unmatched. There's a tool for adjusting the intonation so I have no complaints these days. I don't hear anyone complaining about the tone of a Tele with the extra bridge mass and a blocked Floyd takes it up a notch.
I kept that guitar stock for a long time but never really bonded with it until I made some changes. Fortunately mine had a Fender neck pocket which made it easy to swap the neck and I went with more of a Schecter style 3+3 headstock. Neck is roasted quartersawn maple with a light coat of gunstock wax. Spec wise it was not something I could buy without going the custom route and that's not cheap so I'm glad swapping the neck and pickups gave me exactly what I was looking for at a fraction of the cost.

Read an article on t-nation about the theory of "muscle migration" by CT, where he talks about the last 20 years of training and how once you reach your set point all you can really do is move the muscle around.
It's pretty anecdotal since its based on just him training different styles, and keeping the same bodyweight.I don't know either lol

What I've been fond of doing lately is going through my workout and thinking about exercises that make me want to cringe for how they've tweaked things in the past. Then I take time time just to do it at really modest intensity until it makes sense with my general core development.
Great way to take things off the beaten path considering a lot of them are exercises I've subconsciously neglected for years.

Also, asking me about equity markets or even cryptos is like asking manly about criminal law. Sure I can muster up something that sounds good but it ain't not my area of expertise. I look for income buyers.

I agree that what he says is concerning.
Research funding is an ever increasing challenge. The available options are usually grant competitions, industry sponsorship, or "angel" donors. Only the middle one has direct links with invested stakeholders and contracts almost always stipulate results will be published.
I absolutely get why people are concerned about cardiac implications. Those risks are partly why I waited. That said, cardiac risks from infection vastly outweigh risks from vaccination. So it comes down to personal decision making and weighting of risks - which is one of the reasons mandates are such a terrible idea. People should have access to real information and be given the choice to make an informed decision.
It's becoming very difficult to separate signal from noise with the politics surrounding this stuff.
In trying to find the report this doc references, I came across the following:
"In an interview for GB News, Dr. Aseem Malhotra, a London-based cardiologist, and author of the 'The 21-day Immunity Plan', says that a recent paper shows that the mRNA vaccine can markedly increase the risk of heart disease and could exacerbate existing heart problems. The clip has been shared widely on ********, having been viewed over 30,000 times in the past 24 hours (November 26, 2021).
Malhotra's comments are highly misleading and vastly exaggerate the risk of heart problems following a COVID-19 vaccine. His comments are based on a recently published abstract from American Heart Association's (AHA) journal Circulation. The paper lacks credibility and has been cited by a number of COVID-19 skeptics and conspiracy theorists over the past week, including Vernon Coleman and Robert Malone, to imply that the vaccine is unsafe.
As Logically has previously noted, the paper is not a published paper at all - it is a poster presentation from an online conference. Posters are a way of advertising talks about scientific work during conferences, and are neither peer-reviewed nor published in the same way that actual scientific papers are. This abstract has no published data, no references, and several spelling errors."

The problem with fact checking right now is there is so much money tied up in this being a success, so many with a vested interest from government to media, that it would almost be career suicide for a doctor or researcher to stick their neck out or be a "whistleblower." It's a lot easier for the media to defer to a handpicked "panel of experts" to refute any claim by using a lot of weasel words and saying there is a lack of data. However you can cite a lack of data to support either side of the argument so as you touched on you've got to weigh up the risks. Unfortunately as I said before, and we both agree on this, the government mandating it takes that decision out of your hands. What I can say with confidence is I have very little trust in governments doing the right thing by the people so the harder they push with mandates the more dubious they look.
Then you've also got the issue of censorship. 1:50
"What was in the video they (Youtube) found offensive?"
Doctor: "I said that there are no randomized studies that show masks work with children."
Here in Australia this month everyone will be receiving a notice in the mail to get the booster. That's effectively 3 doses in 6 months. Now there's talk of Omicron already being in the community — which could have only been imported by the "fully vaccinated" since only those who have been given two doses of an approved vaccine are allowed into the country — and as a result there's now talk of an Omicron specific jab in the next 100 days since the existing ones may not be effective which would bring the tally to 4 jabs in 9 months. Is no one else here concerned about this pharmaceutical game of whack-a-mole? And we haven't even touched on the consequences of proceeding to experiment on children, despite very limited data, a demographic who have been show to have an immune system that successfully defeats this thing so why risk f&king that up?
