Smoking is one of the worst things you can do for this. Drinking as well. So good job quitting those.

Erectile dysfunction is typically either psychological or a blood-flow related problem. The way to determine which is to see if the guy can't develop/maintain and erection during intercourse but can while sleeping.

In your case, you are implying you are not getting night-time erection, implying it's blood-flow related. Smoking can definitely contribute to this (and all sorts of other vascular issues), so great job quitting. Nonetheless, I highly suggest you see your doctor about this, who may refer you to a urologist for further examination (or may take a different course of action).

    Good luck.

Edit: for the sake of clarity there can be other causes (ie, autonomic dysfunction secondary to uncontrolled diabetes), but there's generally a vascular etiology.

Are you going to try "seeing a doctor"? Because I rather strongly suggest you do.
