    skinnyfat, unmotivated and depressed

    Hey guys,

2 years ago I was 92kgs and 10% BF. I injured my elbow May 2015 (fixed now) and now I'm 95kgs and fat as **** (bf estimate 25%).

My question is; what do I do? I feel stuck. I don't want to cut because I'll end up with spaghetti arms and 0 muscle mass. On the other hand, I don't want to bulk because I'll end being morbidly obese by the time I'm ready to cut.

Anyone been here before have advice? The only way I can count myself lucky is that I do tend to gain muscle much quicker than my friends.

Also, I'm studying medicine full-time and I'm broke af whereas when I was lifting and dieting hard I was working part-time earning pretty good cash. My gf is a member of a 24 hour gym that allows her to take a friend for free everyday.

Please motivate me and by helping me to make a decision.

    Thanks all, much love

Looks like you were in great shape 2 years ago. That should help you get back to where you want to be relatively quick. I'd probably try and eat at maintenance level or very slightly below and see if you can get your musclemass back from muscle memory.
    Good luck!

    BUMP

thanks mate, I've now finished study and I have 4 weeks off so I've basically cleaned up my diet, not really tracking calories at this stage just making sure I hit my protein and fat intake.

Can anyone else confirm the best way forward for me at this time?

Start with what Hershel Walker used to do. Takes only 8 minutes a day. Start a timer. first three minutes you do as many push ups as you possible can, rest as needed. The last 5 minutes you do as many body weight squats as possible and rest as needed. This is something you can literally do anywhere and theres no such thing as someone who doesn't have 8 minutes in their day to do this. I would recommend switching up form throughout the time ad tracking your results as they increase every day. Keep it up and eventually when it becomes routine i guarantee it will make you motivated to do even more outside of that routine. I recommend doing it before you get in the shower every morning right after you get out of bed. Starts your day off right and gets your blood flowing you can actually focus when you study medicine! Take it from me it helps. I work in the OR at Stanford all day every day and the extra energy helps keep me focused during all of the surgeries!

If you play lol, try to reduce that. And try to join some sport classes, working out together gives more motivation.

Try out intermittent fasting. If your not motivated, maybe your trying to over complicate things. Just eat less and hit the gym.

Take it from someone who did all kinds of bulks etc...you are 25% body fat you have no business bulking at all. You need to cut to atleast 10% before you consider bulking IMO. Hell i'd go lower then lean bulk up slowly...slow and steady.

It's all mental with you. I know where you are right now in terms of state of mind cause I'm there with you. The thing is, you're just anxious. You probably got other problems going on in your daily life, plus you study medicine... that is what causing you not to really put your all into weight lost. You, of course is obsessing over it. I will say get a trainer.... not only could they help you get in shape physically but they will work with you on getting mentally strong. NO they are not doctors and will not give you THERAPY... but they will be able to help discipline yourself. That's all its about when it comes to weight loss.
