What's it like to own a car with fewer than 50k miles?

I dunno those feels. Always used car with miles on it crew. I'm afraid to buy a new car, always hear stories about people owning more than it's worth, getting upside down in their car payment.

buy a reliable beater, save up, buy new car cash. no upside down anything.

im 85k in my 3 year old car now and have had 0 troubles. just a oil change every 10k miles, car air filter at 60k plugs coming up at 120k. Just changed brakes with oem pads and rotors for 400 bucks. cant complain for 85k miles with life to spare.

I use to get new vehicles every 6 months, full jam units, hot whips...

Honestly, it doesn't bother me to drive a 95 dodge ram vs a 2015 dodge ram.

Same. I am happier driving old car with money in pocket, I bought a new one with the intention of being that guy with a 20 year old car that lasted me well (or until someone runs into me) either way. im not against first time buyers if you get good incentives and deals.

Owning a new car is about having a peace of mind and having the latest new style.

But I think the biggest factor for me anyways, is the new exterior and brand new interior. People usually drive cars like normal but interior is less predictable. They could be fkn in the car and be a total slob and clean it up on the day the sale it so its hard to feel comftorable in a used car interior.

If its a newer car with higher mileage, I just order all new interior parts and replace them.

Last three out of 4 cars where new. Its a nice feel knowing that no one has fuked up the interior, or treated the car like trash. I've always taken good care of my cars. Had an 01 Acura CL-S that I sold to a buddy for his wife to drive. We went for a drive in it like 2 months later and I almost cried. The floor of the passenger seat was just trash, couldn't see the carpet anymore. The back seats which were in cherry condition had crap all over, crumbs, trash, a stain on the leather. Of course women typically treat cars like their own personal trash cans, because they rarely have to use their own money to buy one.

I'd rather buy a used car with a nice interior/exterior and some mechanical problems, then a used car with no mechanical issues and a screwed up interior/exterior.

I have only ever bought one car brand new and that was my '13 Mustang GT in the garage...its nice to know everything about the car... from how it was maintained to what has been replaced..

    But..

I will forever be in a used vehicle for my daily commute... I PILE the miles on anything I drive and see absolutely no point in taking a huge hit financially to only have it depreciate in value quickly... besides I love my current DD beater...

Cam , stalled 2006 Crew Cab Silverado... has 160k on the clock and I have put 70k miles on it... truck runs like a champ... I wouldn't hesitate to go out and drive it across the country right now...

I prefer used cars with cash. I do like to clean the ever living **** out of the interior though. Im talking stripping it out and shampooing the carpet, seats, headliner etc.

I just like buying cars that are in the low end of the depreciation cycle.

If they're taken care of the only real difference is the new interior smell. Slap a carpet kit in that beater and you're there.

I bought my first new car a few months ago after only having used beaters and it feels so good man. No rattles, everything works, the AC is cold and the heat is hot, can keep it clean and take care of it so it doesn't get chitty, no concerns other than the usual scheduled maintenance, etc. Especially after owning lots of used cars, it's nice to start with a new one so I can take care of it properly so it doesn't end up like the ones I used to drive

New car smell. Everything else is up to the laws of averages and luck (lemon, random breakdowns, random 30-year old woman who was tired, had a long day, and confused the gas and brake pedals...and had no insurance. No fun)

I hate depreciation, so I also tend to steer away from new cars.

I've built my last two cars from the factory and took delivery with <2 miles (2010 Camaro V6, 2013 Camaro ZL1). I like to have the warm and fuzzy that if something goes wrong with my car, it's more than likely my fault.

Other than not smelling like rank ass, and shining from the inside out, there isn't anything exciting about having a low millage car.

Jeep Wranglers are probably the best to have new/almost new. They loose a bit of value for sure but way less than almost any other car out there. There's the rust problem, but the engine is always top notch. I've only had Jeep cherokee's and wranglers and the last one I got has 34km and I paid it 26G, it's a 2011.

For any other brand I would say never buy used imports, you'll have mechanical problem over mechanical problem. Used americans are safe (except Ford, never touch that new OR used). But mostly it depends on what you use it for, the climate where you live etc., putting too much money on vehicles is useless as you'll never get your money back, so you have to make sure it'll last you a while.

I've had my lexus since 2006 (new), and in 10 years it only has 56k km (about 34k miles), doesn't make much difference to anything except that the interior isn't covered in someone elses semen and blood and you don't have to worry about "what was that noise?"

Iv had used cars all my life until a year ago. New car smell is nice but that wears off pretty quick. I think the number 1 benefit is being able to order exactly what you want. Everyone always goes with different options that suit their needs and when you order a new car you can tailor it to your preferences. Also the warranty is nice for the peace of mind for the next 3-4 years.
