wow....why do u kids post this stuff....sum kid wrote the same thing about DIII football.

there is no definite amount of points you have to score. there is no set GPA or grades. and there is no set weight. just shoot to be the best player on your team. than shoot to be the best in your league, your county, your state, etc.
usually to be a DI athlete, you have to be very skilled with alot of potential and dominate the high school level.

Well let's put it this way unless your playing 5A ball or leading your team in scoring chances are you won't play D1 ball. It is very competitive, you have a better chance at a smaller D1 school. Either way unless you are a very very good ball player, you won't play... basketball is much more competitive than football and soccer, there are only normally 12 spots max so unless you are top caliper you won't play. Try D2 if you really want to play, otherwise unless you are amazing your going to be on the bench even if you make a team. I know this sounds negative, but to play D1 you have to be an awesome player because every team is going to be stacked.

Stupid quesiton. 15-20 on a roster, 5 starting spots, 10-12 people that may get playing time. You have to be better than the best of the best just put it that way.

basically put it this way. when ever u play basketball (pickup or organized) you have to be the best player on the court on a consistant basis and without a doubt. if u are a guard which i am assuming u will be because you are 6'3" u gotta have amazing dribbling skills and getting to the hole abilty or shoot lights out (which means u can make 3's) in your sleep because u have shot the ball so much. i went to uc irvine and even though we were not a good basketball team from a d1 standpoint all the players would dominate if they played pickup games against the students for fun

At 6'3'' You have to score about 30 points per game. Having quick reactions is better than having fast speed. A basketball player needs to be quicker, rather than faster. You have to be able to dunk pretty much. You need to have a lot of strength too. You can't get pushed around, you gotta be able to take a few bumps.
    6'1'' about 230 pounds

thats only the case for walk-ons, partial scholarships, or lower division schools like the d3 level (see walkons). if youre a good athlete, all you need is to be able to mee the NCAA requirements. that being said, GPA can be a deciding factor between chosing 2 players, assuming all factors are about the same.

bottom line i'd say basketball is one of the hardest sports to get a scholarship for, simply because there are so few spots on a roster (15-20 tops). even less guys get playing time, and even less of those actually make the starting squad. furthermore, a lot of the positions require very specific skills. its not like in football where you can have a guy potentially start at 3-4 different positions. its definately worth the shot if you are truely passionate about the game and have some talent, but dont get your hopes up.
