    How many times to work out a muscles group per week??

    I have solid lifting experience for about 5 years and i have heard many different opinions through word of mouth and magizines alike. I have heard something like this is best for a weekly work out. where you should do a muscle group multiple times per week (an article in men's fitness even advocated 3x/week):

    Mon: chest/back
    Tue: bi/tri
    Wed: legs
    Thu: chest/back
    Fri: bi/tri
    Sat: legs
    Sun: rest

    I have seen and heard of doing one muscle group per day and just "killing" it:

    Mon: chest
    Tue: bi
    Wed: leg
    Thu: back
    Fri: tri
    Sat: shoulders

    Maybe not exactly these but something similar. I have done both and i feel like once a week is sometimes not enough and twice a week may be too much for optimal muscle recovery/growth time but i have heard so many other contradicting opinions to each. i am considering an AAS cycle and want to get the most out of it. thanks for all the help

    mine is each no more then 2 a week, usually once a week over 4 days

    i do a 4 day split. I target each muscle group once per week. Compound lifts on different days will hit certain muscle groups again though. Ive used a lot of program sin the past and once per week is getting me the best progress.

    I think it depends on the person but i started off doin each muscle twice a week, had excellent beginner gains, something like this:

    monday - chest + shoulders
    tuesday - back + arms
    wednesday - legs
    thursday - chest + shoulders
    friday - back + arms
    saturday - legs
    sunday - rest

    so that went well for ages as a beginner making weight gains as well as lifting more plates every time, then i kind of starting to slow down with progress (almost but not reaching plataeu)
    so i startin researchin n decided it would be best to do sumthin different so i decided to do each muscle group once a week but completly tear it up still giving the body part a week to recover by itself.

    something like this:

    monday - back + biceps
    tuesday - legs
    wednesday - chest + triceps
    thursday - rest
    friday - shoulders + triceps
    saturday - rest
    sunday- rest

    this routine has made me grow a lot strength and size wise and has allowed me to really concentrate on each muslce group. the extra rest i good to because u dont grow in the gym, u grow while u rest.
