I ran a Warrior Dash last year and started off entirely too fast. I under estimated the impact of being wet and muddy while running up hill. It ended up taking me right about an hour to complete the course! I'm running it again this year and my goal to complete it in under 45 minutes.

I did a Warrior a few years ago and had a few of the same issues... I tried to pace myself with some freak runners and just couldn't stick with them and then tried to follow a Ranger thru the obstacles... He was a case of beer in and still killing me on them. After the first few, I just settled in and did my own thing, it was fun and I'll do one in the future... This time , I will be a little better on the running sections.

i did the old school 20 rep breathing squat program once when I first started training and I worked my way up to 405 and by the time i hit number 20 i swear had used every last ounce of everything that I had in my entire body. even to this day that stands out as the most intense set/workout I've ever completed in my life

In on this.
For races it has to either be
--Tough Mudder, Atlanta, February 2011. It was 40 degrees when we started, first obstacle was this arctic enema thing where you swam through construction dumpsters of ice water. The elements + obstacles + 12 mile course was grueling. Jumped off the platform into the lake around mile 11 and my legs completely locked up. As a runner I was amazed at how much the course beat me up.
--Grandfather mountian marathon. Worth looking up. Normally gets ranked top 10 hardest in the US (or atleast it did back when I ran it). I have ran it twice, it is a marathon that goes up Grandfather Mountain in Boone NC. 26.2 miles, up up up. Was ridiculous. First time it beat me up, but second time I broke the 4 hour barrier. (As a data point, I have done a normal marathon in 3:26)
For workouts my gym recently did a squat rep challenge. Men had 135 on the bar so nothing special, as many reps as you could in 3 minutes. My legs were flat out toast at the end. Could barely walk out of the gym.an insurance adjuster without cargo pockets is like a marine without his rifle

These are great. The most memorial experience I ever had was when I joined a team to do a Panther Run(24 hr run). We came in 2nd, by like 11 or 12 miles + whatever laps they got...I think I put in 22 miles that day...lol

Back in my football days we had to do 6-8 sets of sled push for 100 yds with 100 lbs if weight on them.

There has got to be a lot more crazy workouts out there... Post them up
Not my worst, but when I first started Freshman football we would have "21 days" because the coach loved 21 stuff... So he would have us bench, squat , OHP, situps and run... But it was like this..
We ran goal line to the 50 (7) times, whole field (7) times and then goal to 50 (7) , everyone's done it, all out you don't want to be the last one done.
Then 21s bench, squat OHP and situps and what I thought sucked more than anything was running the 21s again..
We did everything in groups, lineman, DBs & WR, etc... so you couldn't sandbag and hope to beat the lineman, because they weren't in your group.

sounds hard enough but add that florida heat and humidity and it'll get to ya for sure.
college soccer we did 3-a-days for two weeks during preseason in august in middle Georgia. first few days were all fitness tests and weights...we were always so happy when we finally got around to the soccer part about 4 days in....an insurance adjuster without cargo pockets is like a marine without his rifle

Basically that is how it worked. Since it started like at 8am, all the teams would let most of their people run as long as they want then take turns every mile or 2.
At one point I think I was running every hr...lol. Once you were done, you could not run again, they had a list of of runs next and if you missed your turn, you're out/done. So, if the person who relieves you, runs in your spot..you sit the rest of the night out, so everyone has to pay attention to who is on the track at that time.My Log - https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170367151&page=50

You know what? I hate the way most high school coaches do strength and conditioning. It sucks. They have this whole idea that running their kids into the ground is the best way to get them ready to play and boost their mental toughness when in reality all it shows is that theyre all god at copying bad ideas.
Hey I have a bunch of athletes who are going to play a sport that taxes their anaerobic energy systems, so you know what I'm going to do? Run them into the ground and train their aerobic systems because at some point during this season I'm really hoping that my kids have to run 500 yards on the same play. It's insanity. And then they wonder why the end of the season rolls around and half of their roster is hurt...
okay sorry...rant over....now back to the intense workouts pleaseTeam GAT Representative

Training for and completing a marathon. I got up to 70 miles a week training, went through 4 pairs of sneakers, and lost 40 pounds. Crossed the finish line and haven't run since.
Lifting wise. Being two weeks out, super shredded and having little left in the tank but doing the following: 5 tri sets of bb squats, leg presses, hacks. Each set of each exercise was done in a 21 fashion. 7 reps all the way down and halfway up, 7 full, and 7 top half. Worked up to some decent wait too. Followed that with db lunges up three flights of stairs taking every other step. Got to top, set DB's down and immediately hit walking bb lunges. No break between exercises and sets. Then one rest pause set of 100 on leg extensions. I also did a bunch of hamstring work too.iSatori Rep

I took a training to be a cardio-kickboxing instructor. I think the typical format is to do the workout for an hour or two (it's an hour long class) and then the rest is written work/cueing work/etc. Well, the girl leading the training decided we should work out for much of the 9 hour day! It was CRAZY to do that much cardio with intervals in the middle, and keep doing the same workout sections over and over and over for HOURS.
I couldn't walk for days. I was bone dry the next day though from all the sweating!
