I have to admit, I never knew a negative interest rate was an option. Either way, it's not a good sign. I don't agree with Joel on why many things might happen, but I'm previously on record here for saying that we're in for a tsunami that will likely make 08' seem like a small blip. And again, the only way it'll be prevented (in the immediate future) is for us to print more money, which will definitely get rates higher with increased inflation.
If all countries called in their debts right now, we'd all go back about 90yrs in time. Our governments are no different than its citizens who overextend their credit limits past the point of ever being able to actually pay it/them off."If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

Basically, if you deposit $100 dollars in the bank, you will only get $99 (or less) when you withdraw. But if you take out a loan, the bank will pay you.. It's a great deal. Really. sarcasm :
C'mon, man.. You're a closet tinfoil wearing conspiracy theorist. it's okay to come out..
Yessir.. Gold and silver are real money. Just ask BRICS.
ZIRP NIRP is the ghey version of HERP DERP.. lol..
Thanks, Kev. I obviously do not expect all 7 billion people in this world to have my views.. It's okay to see things differently. I'm cool with that. The fact that you are aware as to the true conditions of the global economy is "good" (for a lack of better term) because you can at least prepare for what's ahead. Hats off to you.
Speaking of heading towards a cashless society, starting with NIRP, it has already started. 500 euros are NO LONGER printed out of thin air. And the movement to eliminate 100 dollar bills are in the works. Those of us in the conspiracy circle saw this coming. Nobody wants to see anybody suffer. But unfortunately, most people suffer a normalcy bias and they think all is good. Let me just say that the US gummint, from federal to lacal level, has been preparing for Venezuela-like scenarios. It's a matter of WHEN.
Keep preparing, my fellow conspiracy theorists! This above all..

Fwiw, I like Peter Schiff and listen closely to what he has to say. It's quite scary, actually, but I find him to be quite brilliant. He truly did predict 08' before it happened....and nobody listened to him. But to be fair, one could also point to anyone else who claimed that the economy will improve. There's always a "high", always a "low", but a hell of a lot of "in between". Nobody is good at predicting (with precision) an exact date for any of those choices. It's simply inevitable that each will occur....at some point. Nevertheless, our economy (along with China & Europe's) are operating on exaggerated well being, imo. Nothing adds up for our current housing market to be on the rise in term of value. Manufacturing is surprisingly up, but not much else is. Home values are being inflated (to the pleasure of many) once again, all based on "nothing"......it's not good.

I figured that you did. I believe he speaks facts and "the truth", but I also know he's been yelling that the sky is falling for as long as I've known him. And yet, we've seen one or two market corrections that may have been close calls but were hardly doomsday as he constantly predicts. I guess I would put it like this; Schiff knows what he's talking about and is a brilliant guy, but the part he leaves out of the equation is that there are many tricks that the powers that be can pull out of their hat to prevent what really should happen in an "un-monkeyed-with" market. He forgets about the monkeys .
I mean, I'd love to buy gold and silver, but their current prices would have me nervous by buying into them at this point. Hindsight is 20/20 when it comes to investments, no doubt. But if the dollar strengthens through some miracle after this election cycle, I will probably act. Right now? Waiting to see how it plays out, despite anticipating that 2016 could end very badly."If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." Boom. Resurrecting an old thread like a turd who refuses to get flushed.
I called it years ago.
60% of bonds are now yielding NEGATIVE returns. Who in their right mind would invest in something only to get a negative return. This above all..
