Carb Counting Keto - Net Carbs

Hi all, probably been asked on here 1000 times so i'll keep it short.

New to the ketogenic diet, looking to stay under 30g carb as recommended, but I was looking for clarification on the exact meaning of "net carbs"? I've been told that I should do total carbs in the portion minus fibre, but the "of which sugar" part on the label is throwing me off too. Could somebody please explain what exactly I should be looking for when I'm shopping, thank you!

    Matt

Net carbs is Total Carb-Dietary Fiber-Sugar Alcohols=Net Carbs

So 39 Total Carbs with 19 Dietary Fiber and 10 Sugar is 20 Net Carbs.

So the "of which sugars" isn't particularly relevant? For example, I'm looking at a tub of peanut butter that is:

    Carbs 9.6
    Sugar: 7.0
    Fibre: 9.2

So that would simply be 0.6 net carbs?

I've heard good things about this diet, apparently improving maths skills isn't one of the perks though..

Just found a product in which the fibre is higher than the carbs

    Per 100g
    Energy: 280Kcal
    Protein: 18g
    Total Carbohydrates: 10g
    of which sugars: 0.7g
    Fat: 13g
    of which saturates: 6g
    Fibre: 26g
    Sodium: 800Mg

What's going on here? It's low carb tortillas if it makes any difference

I actually asked this same question last week. Some labels (outside the US) remove fibers from the carb count.

I would use 10g as the Net Carbs for counting macros.

Count ALL Carbs. Don't buy into the "Net carbs" or any other marketing gimmick wording. All carbs count.
