1. They are dirt cheap
2. They are packed with protein, one of the cheapest sources of it
3. Half the carbs are dietary fiber. TONS of fiber means never buying expensive greenies again
4. Hardly any calories because zero fat, difficult to accidentally over eat like you would nuts
5. All the calories are slow digesting.
6. Extremely versatile
Basically, as long as I get a half a pound of lentils into my diet, I'm mostly full and have ~1500 calories all day to play with if I desire, and it cost about as much as a gumball to accomplish. You're welcome!
