His name is Derek Kidney. My gym has literally the only dedicated WL club with USAW certified coaches within like 40 miles.

Yeah it is dicey. At that level there's no margin for error if you're trying to move up the ladder. One thing I've noticed at WL meets, missing is contagious. One person misses and then everyone starts missing. That's exactly what happened with pretty much every group I watched. And once you miss once, you either recover from it or you don't. You have a to have a very short-term memory and the ability to completely block out everything around you.

    Seriously hard stuff!

I have been getting my ass handed to me at work this week. I bet you anything I did not work out at all during this time last year.

I just verified - I worked out on Wednesday and then not again until Sunday. I probably should have planned better this year, but it's harder with a 4 day a week schedule that can't be consecutive. And I think this gets harder as I get older. I remember feeling like this 15 years ago when I had 8-10 16 hour days in a row for motox, but not after 4. I was originally thinking that if I had gotten my crap together and canceled my current gym, I could have gone in at 4:30 am since the new gym is 24 hour, but that may have only happened on Thursday before I really got worked. Oh well, moving on. Decline will have to wait until next week and I will attempt to deadlift tomorrow. Light weight, higher reps so will be "easier" than later in the cycle. And then I will take a nap.

And yes, I put in the work, I keep moving forward, I will get there eventually

Effed Up Hybrid Catch Up Day 9/17

    Close Grip Decline Bench
    PR's:
    130x2 5/5/17
    126x6 8/24/17
    109x8 9/6/17

    45x8
    65x5
    85x3
105x3 - whoops meant to only do 1
126x5 - miss one. Got loose on rep 5 and couldn't recover. Well, I was pretty loose on several reps, but that's the one I couldn't recover from
    126x6
    110x8 - rep PR

    Strict Press
    PR's:
    Strict Press
    81x3 7/9/17
    85x1 12/29/16

65x3 - was supposed to do a single at 75 lbs but my shoulder was acting up on 65 pounds so I moved on

    Front Squat
    PR's:
    166x1 8/18/17
    146x3 8/25/17

    45x5 close
    45x5 wide
45x5 comp... these were actually back squats because I forgot what day it was
    65x5
    95x3
    115x1
    135x1
    156x1

    Trap Bar Dead, Raised Handle
    PR's:
    240x1 6/17/17
    235x3 8/11/17

    135x3
    185x1
    205x1
    235x1

    Deadlifts
    PR: 265 7/1/17
    15x190x1

    Banded Deadlift - Blue Band
    3x160x2

I knew if I asked Wade he would have told me to just skip it, but I really wanted to get all my barbell work in. I skipped accessories. I was tired, distracted, blah but I think overall I executed. Trying to work on deadlift form but not sure that was successful. I notice I start with my hips higher on banded. Dunno why.

I'm still exhausted but it's probably no longer the event taking it out of me. I'm once again in a funk.

in person, I'd tear your ass off but, here we are and the work is done

a little loose on and the bar path/touch point got low on decline, you can see as you try to push away, it goes to the tummy and lower. Then on 6, it gets away from you. Clearly you can as you come back on 2 and hit it. Then you hit a pr on the 8 rep set. So, you are capable.

OHP, was easy. So, I get the pain but, the win, the 65 is baby weight

Front squat, last single, loose in the hole. The win, you pushed on through.

Trap, super easy and we will begin to push this.

Deadlift..I don't want the weight to roll away but, you have learned to use it and load, bar path is not bad, You have become in intuitive, a win, and can be seen in the pulls making sure you are patient getting to the start.

These are wins and something to build on

a funk, this is a choice

choose you, choose more, choose better

I too have an issue with getting loose (in my lifts, Harry). I've been working on "squeeze the scapula" and "elbows in" which is helping.

I'm 95% out of my funk.

Where do I start? As far as lifting goes, I actually feel good about what I am accomplishing. I'm at the point where I need to work on form and tightness, break some bad habits (cough, cough, reaching on bench, cough). I might be cutting myself too much slack, but I am trying to focus on taking care of myself, physically and emotionally.

I celebrated my 10th Wedding Anniversary Wednesday, but we're actually not in a great place. Marriage is hard y'all. On Sunday and Monday we were at each other's throats, and we were okay by Wednesday, but we still have a bunch of issues to work out. It doesn't help that being in business together creates all kinds of additional stress.

Work is starting to pick up again, not a bunch, but enough. And my boss from the last 6 years (aside from one year) is now retiring and I'm getting my boss from that one year I was away. So far things are good, which is positive because I was a worried since our history together has not been all positive. I still am a little worried, there's a lot of stuff in the air, things my old boss really assisted with and new boss doesn't have the skills, time or interest in taking over at that level.

As some of you might have seen on IG, it snowed here last week. It seriously went from summer to fall in a few days. By Wednesday we're supposed to have highs in the 70's again but the lows will still be in the 30's. Hopefully we will have some killer fall colors here very soon.

Also, trying to plan a couple little long weekend getaways. Our regular fall getaway, I don't know WTF happened, but I've never seen the area THIS booked. Like our regular rental is 100% booked solid from this last weekend until November 17. So now we're looking at different weekends, different places to stay etc. We can't make a decision The first weekend is part business in visiting a new supplier, so we can't really change the location. We also want to take a second trip to go to a festival we have talked about for a few years, and I have at least 5 vacation days to spend by the end of the month, so I have the time off okay. However, we open for the season on November 9, and the festival is that first full week, weekend to weekend. We could try to go for the first weekend and a couple more days, but we might open early. *sigh* so I need to find a place to stay that has a decent cancellation policy. Or I try to get someone to cover me, which is a totally new prospect.

So, as you can see, lots of BS in my life, on my mind, etc. So enjoy some pics of snow

Snow pictures always blow me away just because we don't see if often here and definitely not on that scale.

Marriage is hard! The one thing that I've learned that has helped me a lot is that if no one died it isn't that big of a deal. Putting things into perspective helps you see that the things you think are a big deal really aren't. Marriage is difficult but if it's a good relationship it's worth it. Good luck!

Glad you're feeling almost entirely out of the funk. Sounds like you're dealing with quite a bit outside the gym, and I know that for me that can be one of those things that throws me off. I feel better after pushing through, and getting a workout in, but it does make it hard to do the actual workout. You've got this though.

    Wait until Snowmaggedon/Snowpocalypse hits again

Marriage is hard! The one thing that I've learned that has helped me a lot is that if no one died it isn't that big of a deal. Putting things into perspective helps you see that the things you think are a big deal really aren't. Marriage is difficult but if it's a good relationship it's worth it. Good luck!
I like that perspective. Our biggest issue is we're both frazzled so if one of us gets snippy it just escalates. These last few days I worked really hard to diffuse my own snippiness which helped. I am in charge of my own reaction, and so forth.

I thought you Canadians ran around naked in the snow on purpose? But work just declared a ski day on Thursday, employees only. Too bad I don't ski LOL

Any relationship that's worth it is hard, and work. You've got this
    Thanks Matt!

I'm getting better at focusing once I'm there, which is good. As far as life in general goes, it feels like a lot, but I'm reminding myself that I've been through worse and made it. One day at a time. As Wade says, how do you eat an elephant? Trying to focus on the things I have some control over, like my own attitude and actions.

You'll be good Ananada, one day at a time. Oh and delicious pie tends to calm arguments. Fuk that snow though! It's 90 degrees over by me every day and I like it that way. As soon as we get one flake of snow every year I'm like oh noooo I'm not dealing with this ever again, I'm moving South next year.

Snow pics look very nice! Especially seeing how we're in the 90s. Yay fall.
Hope things smooth out for you guys. Marriage is always a two way street. I have to remind myself this quite often.

Hahaha Hammy! I made pizza over the weekend, maybe that counts as pie? I don't make pie unless it's Thanksgiving

Lol, I used to think "man it'd be super cool to train like that, I'd be pretty badass" get a good amount of snow over the winter, and suddenly it seemed less appealing. >.<
