Mafia Game Thread



This is a standard Mafia game with 13 players. The setup is:
3 Mafia
1 Cop with a random Night 0 peek (the cop already knows the alignment of a town players role as Day 1 starts)
9 Town

Cop description:
Each night after Night 0, the Cop will be allowed to private message me a target(this can be done in day phase too, but result will first be given at night/before the next day starts) to receive a peek on that player, being simply told if that player is part of the Town or Mafia.
The Cop can use that information as he wants to, sharing it in thread - but beware that if you are Cop, you are the Mafia's biggest enemy, so they will likely kill you if they figure out that you are the Cop.
The Cop is part of the Town team - it just simply has the above described ability power in addition to being a Town player.
If you are cop, you can send as many peek targets to me as you like, it will be the last one you send that will be used.
Peek result will be given to you(through a private message from me) before the new game day starts.
If you fail to send me a peek target, it will be randed(randomized) by me, and you will still receive a peek.

Rules that must be read and understood before you start posting(as a break of one of them can be bad for your health, in game):
* No one is allowed to talk in the thread when it is night(night phase in game).
* Mafia team players(not Town players) are allowed to contact each other outside of the game thread, at any time, including night phases. They know who each other is, before the game starts.
* If you die, you are not allowed to post anywhere(including if you are on the Mafia team). A single dead post with no game information or hints to anyone, is allowed(etc. "Good luck, town!" is fine - but don't write "OMG I know x is a Mafia, lynch him!").
* You are not allowed to quote private communication with the game mod(which in this case is me). So if you ask me anything, don't quote my answer or talk about that you asked me. If I answer something to a player, that I think everyone should be made aware of, I will make an announcement in thread, not revealing anything about who asked the question.
* Don't try to ask me questions in thread - I will not answer them. Always send me a PM. You can ask other players all the questions you want, though - as long as it is in the game thread and in day phase.
* It is not allowed to participate in the game with multiple accounts(obviously).
* It is not allowed to make bets in game.
* You are NOT allowed to edit or delete your posts in game thread

Hopefully there will be no violations of these rules - in the case that there is, I will either give a warning announcement in game thread or I will mod kill(in cases that it is obvious that someone has gained an unfair advantage through breaking rules, accidentally or not).

Notice: The way you vote on another player, is by writing the players name in bold.
So if anyone wants to vote me(which would be silly, since I'm not part of the game), it would look like:

It doesn't have to be 100% correctly spelled, as long as it is all clear who you mean to vote. So writing "1stborn" is also valid.
I will provide vote counts throughout the day, posting them in thread for everyone to see. So there is a better overview of who has voted for who, and how many votes each has.
You can vote as much as you want, but it will always be the last vote that counts.

I have sent you a PM back, unfortunately I will have to opt out from participating. I was excited for this and it does sound like a lot of fun with social engineering aspects. Just landed a new project last week, and I don't want to slow the game down for everyone with my absence and infrequent posting. If anyone from the replacement list wants to jump in, please do so

The part where I say I randed Town? In my experience, people who rand mafia rarely have the balls to make such an assertive statement. Either you have opposite experience or you have some deductive reasoning that makes my statement alignment indicative. I'll give you a hint - it's purely anecdotal, and Non-Alignment Indicative (NAI).

So if the first phrase you're quoting me from can't be alignment indicative, then the only other option would be my vote appears to be mafia like.

I'm going to break this down - in order for Town to win, we MUST lynch as it's the ONLY way for us to get rid of Mafia. Mafia need not even vote or try to solve the game, as they can simply kill every night until they win. Therefore, it's not my vote that is mafia-like.

Perhaps it's the PERSON I'm voting for that is mafia like then? I think you're trying to dissuade me from voting for caliasthetics then. What are the different possibilities then?

1) Assuming from a town perspective, you have town read cliasthetics, which would be virtually impossible since caliasthetics has yet to even post.

2) Assuming from a cop perspective, caliasthetics was your N0 cop check. (I'm pretty much only including this in for WIFOM purposes ;-) )

3) From a mafia perspective, you are trying to protect your mafia teammate.

4) From a mafia perspective, you are trying to 'pocket' caliasthetics (who in this scenario would be a town) so that caliasthetics looks at you like a 'white knight' who saved him.

Haha thanks. Just a dumb townie I suppose.

Edit: has a few minutes now to jot down some of my logical reasoning.

Criollo- at first did have some concern that he is mafia simply due to using the word kill versus Lynch. That being said I am not sure if, on this forum, that is a definite tell. I am assuming most of us haven't played this game many times before. Maybe I am wrong about that.

Camarija- while initially his reasoning post made me think and I was considering the validity of that post, heck it even made me change my vote. After further review and re reading all the posts in this thread I now think that his post was excessive in terms of its length and the logical connections it made; but only because of how early in the game it was posted. Seems like he knows what he is doing and obviously the purpose of his post was to sway votes, which it did. I have concern he is mafia.

Don't have a read on anyone else at this point.
