Bench/Rows: That was teetering on the edge of being an actual strength session. I should have stopped a little sooner than that on both of those lifts. Still having some pain in my left shoudler during bench. That has been going on for months. Overall, strong sets. Very smooth and controlled. Bench reps were all paused. Rows had minimal back movement.

Accessory: Good little triplet there. No single exercise was too taxing, but together they got the sweat glands going.

Metcon: I thought I had done this before, but still had it on my list. I scaled the PP and subbed pull-ups for rope climbs. More sweat flowing, that's for sure...

OK, let's go kick this week's ass for the next couple of days! I promise to try and catch up on the journals when I get a minute. Have a good one folks!
Building up to good singles on your deload Trent ... hopefully you'll get a deload from work as well and the chance to recover and push the training after Thanksgiving
Always amazed at your stamina .... can't believe you got that metcon done in just over 6 minutes = 45 push presses would have taken me out well before I'd got finished with the pull-ups

Nice deload workout yesterday Trent. That metcon looks pretty tough to me. I can see where that'd get the sweat flowing.

I'm with you...can't wait for Thanksgiving to get here! Good luck with your work and travels.

Thanks so much guys (and gal). It sounds like I'm not the only one who is pumped about Thanksgiving. I'm mostly working from home this week, with the exception of one night out of town tomorrow. After that, it's straight up family, eating, drinking and training time. My my, how all of those go together...

Comments: Since I only have four weeks leading up to vacation, I'm going to do a short cycle where I start off with some heavier reps and then settle into more of a lower weight, higher rep scheme for three weeks. Since I really haven't gone heavy in a while, I'm going to auto-program these reps and just sort of explore some heavier weights.

Squat: I did 20 back extensions before these, in my warm-up. That seemed to help with that lower back pain that I've felt a lot of on squats recently. These sets felt pretty good. I probably could've kept going another 10-20 lbs but my form was breaking down so I stopped at 275. I've lost a bit on this lift as my 1RM is 315.

Deadlift: These felt pretty good. I wanted to go for 365 but 345 felt really heavy and looked ugly so I stopped there. It definitely felt good to put some actual weight on the bar for a change. I'm about 30 lbs off my last 1RM on this lift, so I'm happy with that.

Accessory: Just smoking the posterior chain here. Good, fast and left the hammies burning...

Sprints: I was going to do EMOM 10 burpees but my wife told me to hurry up because lunch was almost ready. Hence the 4 rounds of 1.5 minutes and 15 burpees per round. Good stuff. Never lost pace.

I should finally have some time to catch up on the journals this week. Have a great day folks!

Comments: It's a chilly 30 degrees out here this morning, but the show must go on. Trying to get my OHP/Pull-up session done this morning before a mid-morning meeting and then travelling to Charlotte this afternoon. I'm going to continue with the same rep scheme to explore some heavier weights. I understand that this probably isn't the best rep scheme for finding a 1 rep max, but I am still trying to get about 40 working reps, hence the higher reps to start.

    OHP: Weak...

Pull-ups: Happy to get a PR there. I just can't manage to break my 1 Rep Max of 100 lbs. My chin stopped just short of the bar...

Accessory: Skipped. Running out of time.

Metcon: This was a good one. Not too hard and it sort of gave me some OHP/Pull-up accessory work too. I'lll take it.

Alright, off to work. Planning to do bench/rows and a run later in the week. Have a good day everyone!

Awesome!, good work, hopefully it warms up for you for your run. What kind of temps are you seeing in your garage there?

Its miserable here, ended up buying a kerosene convection heater at Lowes.

with Fit on this^^^^.. +95 on a pull up...a tip of the hat to you young man ! OHP not weak...just keep after it and eventually it will succumb ! What helped with mine was constantly reinforces pushing my head through as the bar passed my forehead..By getting over your ears its in the optimal spot for most people to press.. Enjoy reading and watching your journal hope you have a good Thanksgiving!

Awesome workout yesterday Trent. Looks like you did some solid work on the OHP. Those Pull-up sets are something else though man. Nice job on those. Doing all of those weighted reps, including the set at 95 and then going for 105...all I can say is bravo!

If in doubt, squat and run hills. So you walk into the gym and don't know what to do? Then squat and run hills. Have a miserable day at work and want to break someone's neck but aren't sure who's? Then squat and run hills. - Jim Wendler

Good looking workouts to me man! I like that rep scheme and it's a fine way of hitting some new maxes. Hope that y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We head to Panama City Beach for our turkey day.

Strong pressing and weighted pull-ups! Think, if you were a 300lb blob you would be the only 300lb blob to do one pull-up!!
    Great job Trent!

Awesome job on the weighted pull ups! See if you were trying to pull yourself up PLUS 100lbs of whey, ammunition, and oatmeal up onto a roof in the zombie apocalypse you'd be fine. Most people wouldn't be able to get their skinny up there let alone their supplies too.
