Thanks brother. We got him a fan a few weeks ago. We also put a nightlight in his room last week and have started leaving the door open too. I want to say it is teething and that we haven't weened him off of breast milk yet (boy is that going to be a mess ) but I'm still not sure. I don't know what is constantly waking him up every few hours and why he just never really seems to sleep deeply for 5-6 hours +. One thing is for sure, my wife, or better yet, her "milk supply" is definitely his main source of comfort. So while I don't know what's wrong, I do know that he is always crying for mommy for some comfort, every couple of hours... Our daughter was (and is) a thumb sucker, so she was really good at comforting herself. She is also a deep sleeper. Our son seems to have neither of those talents.

Comments: It’s probably about time to stop the daily comments about calories as nothing really seems to change. LOL I guess my goals are just to maintain a slight deficit which I seem to be doing pretty well. Out here for some deads/OHP/Pull-ups this morning.
Strength: Always tough getting back into Deads for the cycle. I had some knee pain in my right knee that began during a set of deads on my second to last week of the last cycle and was my primary reason for taking a week off. Glad that took care of it… I wrapped my knee tightly for that last set and got ‘em done.
Accessory: Done.
Metcon: Got a phone call from my boss right as I finished up and forgot to stop my watch for a few minutes so I estimated the time and calories.

Well the good thing with your son is he will eventually grow out of it. At least for your sake I hope so.
Solid work put in today! 10 rep deads say you definitely get to keep your mancard today. Sorry to hear about the knee.
Which Apple Watch did you get? With Amazon Prime days in effect I started looking for a new watch. I ordered another Garmin but after playing with a coworkers Apple watch today, along with reading what you said about your watch I am really interested. I always thought you had to put it on a plan to use which is what kept me away from it. From what I can tell the 6 has that new blood oxygen and ecg app capability. Not sure it is worth the extra 120 bucks for that though.

Ha ha, yes, I hope he does grow out of that. Any day now young fellow. Thanks on yesterday's session. Definitely feeling it.
I got the Apple Watch 5, 44mm. (Last year's model) I'm kicking myself now because the 02 sensor would have been a big plus. The 5 has the ECG app. Really the only new thing about the 6 is the 02 sensor, and I've heard that some of the health goals, etc. are more "programmable" or something but haven't really looked into that.
You don't have to put it on a cellular plan. If you have an iPhone it will sync with your phone if you're in range. You can take calls, send texts and get alerts that come to your phone. I usually have my phone with me or near me almost all the time. If you have an Android I'm not sure if that works or not. If you are out of range of your iPhone, it will still track your exercise and calories. I put it on the cellular plan because my goal was to stream music on the watch and listen with bluetooth ear buds while I am running. As far as I know, the only app that might do that is Pandora, which I don't like, so that defeats the purpose for me. Spotify won't stream to your watch. You have to have your phone with you to stream that (but can control the music with your watch, which is really convenient). Plus, I read that RF-wise, bluetooth ear buds are pretty much the equivalent of sticking a cell phone in each of your ears so I stopped using them (actually measured that myself and confirmed it to be true).
Long story short, if you have an iPhone, I would buy the Apple Watch all day long. You won't regret it. Operating wise, it is seamless with your iPhone and incredibly fast and smooth. My only complaint is that you have to charge it every day. I usually charge mine while we eat dinner as I'm usually just sitting and don't burn many calories. By the time I get home from work the next day I usually have 50-60% battery remaining. That is my only complaint. I've heard another complaint that for ultra-marathoners/triathletes that the battery won't last the length of one of those crazy long events while tracking your activity but at this point, that is hardly a concern for me.
Let me know if I can assist further.All-Time PR's and Info:

Comments: I’ve been feeling pretty rough the last few days. Feels like I could be fighting something. Just really tired and have some very mild chest congestion (Hmmmm, what could that be???) Pretty much the same thing that was coming and going for most of the first half of the year. Last night it seemed a little laborsome to get a full breath. Feeling a little better this morning though so that’s good. And if you’re thinking I should go get tested for Covid, I’m sticking by my pledge to never get tested for that unless I feel like I’m going to die. I don’t trust what our government is doing with those numbers and will do my best to not be a part of it. Ultimately, I would bet that at least 75% of us have been exposed or infected by now (probably more) so it really makes no difference to me. Pretty sore after the last two days of training so I’m just going to do some LISS and mobility this morning.
LISS/Mobility: Picked a sh!tty video this morning, at least for me. This gal was doing finger and wrist stretching for like 5 minutes and my lower back and legs are wrecked. I ended up just abandoning the video and doing some stretching to try to loosen those areas up. Other than that, just torching calories.
Going to Durham this morning for work so I hope to stop for a hike at Umstead Park on the way back. Hope y’all have a good day!All-Time PR's and Info:

Lunchtime: Ruck – 30 lb. Umstead Park – Raleigh, NC
4 Miles, 1:13:00, 18:14 Pace, 570 Cals 104 BPM,
407’ Elevation Gain
Ruck: Stopped for a ruck on the way back from Durham. That was about 3 minutes slower than the last time I did that trail but I wasn’t really trying to break any records today. Plus I got caught up behind a few groups of people who, surprisingly, seemed to not even notice I was 10' behind them for sometimes up to a quarter mile before letting me pass. I thought to myself, "these are the types of people you see in horror movies. They do actually exist..." Gorgeous day weatherwise with temps in the mid 60’s for this one and Fall leaves making their way down to the ground. It was great to be out there.All-Time PR's and Info:

Thank you for the detailed reply on the watch. That is crazy about the ear buds! I have an I phone so I will probably return the Garmin and spring for one.
Hope you don't have the Covid! Even if you do I am sure you would be fine. The average age of death is older than the average age that people die.
Nice ruck today! Too bad you didn't have a chainsaw with you to give those people a proper Halloween scare. LoL.

Ha ha, thanks Shane. Sorry about the covid rant. I'm just over it. Yeah man, go for the Apple Watch. Pumped to have actually steered you into spending your money on something. Lol Yeah, there are some "interesting" folks that frequent that park. I'll put it that way. They are mostly the type of people who are highly educated but never learned common sense. As I always explain to my daughter, "being educated is good, but having common sense is way more important. Your education might get you a good job, but common sense is going to get you to work and back alive." Sadly, nowadays, being "highly educated" means you probably lost your ability to use logic and to think for yourself.
Sorry, I really have to stop with the rants first thing in the morning. It seems everywhere I go right now I see ignorance being shouted from the rooftops...All-Time PR's and Info:

Comments: Didn’t sleep well last night. Dragging out here today.
Last week I bought a “surf skateboard” and it arrived yesterday. For those of you familiar with skating, this is more of a cruiser with specialized trucks for doing sharper and deeper turns (similar to surfing). So, you aren’t really doing kick flips or any of that fancy stuff. Just riding and doing carves, etc. More of an old-school skateboard. Yesterday, I spent about three hours skating around in the street and had a blast. I’m going to put it in my car when I go to work and if I’m driving around town and see somewhere that looks fun I might pull over and go for it for a few minutes.
Box Squat: Had some knee pain during this but got through it.
Bench: Whew! Not the strongest sets but got ‘em done.

Comments: Going to skip deads today to hopefully let my knee heal up. It isn’t hurting that much this morning so I may try to get deads in later in the week. I thought about switching to conventional deads for a week or two to take it easy on the quads as the hex deads tend to use those more and shifting back to the hamstrings might help take the strain off my knees. I would definitely keep them light though as my lower back is pretty sore. Lol.
Strength: Felt pretty strong on these. Good sets.

Nice work in here Trent. Good numbers on the squats and BP. Those surfing skate boards look like they would be a lot of fun for someone who could use them. I would end up hurting myself.
Sorry to hear about the knee pain. I know that pain all too well. Good idea to skip the deads and it's not a bad idea to try some conventionals. Another good one would be RDLs. Those seem to be the most friendly of the deadlifts because you don't start from the floor and they would definitely accomplish the goal of shifting the focus to your hamstrings.
If weather is anything up there like it is down here you should have had perfect weather for that hike yesterday. Sounds awesome! Well except the part about the boss.

Thanks brother. Yeah, the surf skateboard is fun. I haven't gotten the balls to actually go to the skate park with it yet. Yeah man, I might have to try either RDLs or conventional deads to try and save the knee. The weather is gorgeous this week. On Monday I worked from home all day (in the garage). In the afternoon it was 72 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. I just opened the garage door and felt like I lived in CA or something. Just perfect weather.

Comments: Honestly, I think I burned more calories than that yesterday. In total, I probably skated for at least two hours and only tracked it for 45 minutes at a park that I stopped at yesterday afternoon. That was the second day in a row that I stopped at that park. I found this parking lot while looking for my ideal “concrete wave” which would basically be a slight decline concrete dried out drainage ditch or maybe a parking lot with a row of spaces that is on a steep embankment. I ended up skating in this parking lot which is empty on weekdays (because it is a soccer park) and it is nice and wide with a subtle decline the entire way. Toward the bottom, the two sides are both graded more steeply toward one another and that makes it possible to get a little bit more powerful turns in. I skated down that parking lot probably ten times in a row yesterday over 45 minutes and man were my legs feeling it. Really fun and nobody seems to mind a middle-aged guy wearing a collared shirt (who is clearly taking a break from work) skating in the parking lot. I guess I’m not your typical “skater guy” who is wearing torn up clothes, grinding on everything and smoking cigarettes. (Sorry to stereotype the skater guys) I posted a video of one of the “runs” down the parking lot above. It’s worth noting that I filmed this with my phone and sat that on the trunk of my car which was parked about halfway down the hill. I probably get more turns in on one of these runs than I have in the last 10 years of surfing. I would have posted this video on IG but my boss follows me on there and I didn’t want him to know I’m playing hooky from work.
Metcon: This took a little bit too long as I got caught up writing a work email during the treadmill segments. Still burned some good calories.

Just some calorie torching and RDLs. The RDLs felt pretty good except they did put a lot of pressure on the front of my feet (which isn’t good for that broken bone area). Just stopped after 4 sets. Still got something in at least.

Great work put in this week! That surf skate board thing looks like a lot of fun!
Nice work on the RDLs. Forgot about your toe issues, hopefully you can find a good combination of something that will work for you! Getting older isn’t for sissies!
We all seem to be working around some kind of injury. LoL
Have a great weekend.

Comments: And there you have it. Yesterday was my first actual rest day after 102 consecutive days of meeting my calorie burn goals and doing at least some form of exercise. I decided this weekend that it was time to start taking one rest day per week. If I happen to go for a walk, skateboard or do some form of light, recreational exercise, that’s fine, but I will not intentionally do any exercise or training on Sundays. Last week, I seemed to stay around the 172 range and for the first time looked in the mirror and said, OK, I might be a little too skinny. So I will do my best simply to maintain this weight now. That means breaking even on calories!
I’m trying to go and vote this morning so I’m out here at 5:00AM. I’d like to be at the voting place by 7:30AM (30 minutes before they open). I’ve been told that’s they only way to get in and out quickly.
Strength: Good sets. Barely got through the last set of squats and pull-ups.
Accessory: Great combination of movements.
Burpees/LISS: Done and drenched.

Comments: I skated a lot yesterday which I believe is what got me such a huge deficit. I went to the skatepark in Apex and rode around for about an hour. That was pretty fun hitting the ramps but I’m not doing any crazy tricks or anything, just cruising around. I then skated again at the soccer park yesterday afternoon. I guess it burns about as many calories as walking and is way more fun. Win-win. Time for some weights.
Strength: Lifted “with my back” more on the deads this week. No knee pain but that is not something I can do long term. OHP felt pretty strong.
Accessory: Good combo and threw in some AMRAP sets at the end.
Metcon: Good one.
Added in an extra mile of LISS at the end because I had some extra time this morning. Lots of calories torched today. Have a good one!All-Time PR's and Info:

3 good workouts Trent!
Hitting goal weight and switching to maintaining is a great spot to be!
It’s really awesome that you found the surf skate board and have found another fun way to get in some extra cardio. Play type cardio should be in all of our lives.
Good idea to schedule a rest day weekly. I try to get at least one a week.
Nice numbers in here as well and now that you get to eat a little more food the lifting should get a little more fun as well.

Thanks Shane. Yeah, those were some good sessions. Couldn't agree more with the play exercise. We used to do that as kids and somehow, like many things in life, we tend to be relegated to just "doing it to get it in" as adults. Gotta have fun too. Yeah, it feels really good to crush some food again!

Comments: It was weird actually trying to eat more yesterday. That was right on the money I’d say. Probably an excellent goal would be to finish at less than a 100-calorie deficit if you’re trying to maintain your weight. I ended up doing some manual labor at work yesterday and also stopped and skated for an hour on the way home, so I burned a boatload of calories. My wife asked if I wanted pasta and for the first time in several months said, “absolutely.”
LISS: Actually got in the car and went to the skatepark this morning at 6:45AM thinking it wouldn’t be crowded. Wrong. I got there to find a half a dozen guys who looked like they actually knew what they were doing. I’m not comfortable enough there yet to go and hang with the “real skaters” so I just turned around and went home and got on the treadmill. I did a proposal for work for an hour and torched a million calories. Might try to skate or hike at lunch today as well.
Shane, I think today is your endoscopy. If so, then good luck brother. Sent a prayer up for good results.

Thank you for the prayers brother. It doesn't go unappreciated.
Nice work in here. I think I am planning on doing much the same and maintaining my weight through this winter and then hitting a deficit 12 weeks from Memorial day, which would be right about the first of March, and then hit the diet to lean out.
I wouldn't worry about hanging with real skaters. You are a surfer anyways, pretty sure you have them beat on the coolness scale by that alone. Go have fun, maybe you can teach them to surf.

Any time brother. Thanks on the workouts. Yep, I'm not trying to fight this weight loss battle again next year. It took me 8 months to get to my goal weight this time and that is way too long. And glad to hear that I'm cooler than skaters. LOL. I'm extremely impressed by their talent, but the culture is a real turnoff for me. To me surfing is definitely cooler and way more intense due to (sometimes) dangerous and constantly changing conditions.
