It's OK my friend. Just a minor setback. Well, another minor setback. The ankle is feeling better. Not out of the woods yet, but getting there. I may be able to do some leg work this week.

Sucks about the guy ending up in the hospital. Outdoors, beers, and heat can easily put you in bad spot if you don't drink plenty of water with it.
Thanks Shane. Yeah, I hope he is feeling better too. Like I said, he wasn't drinking alcohol so I'm not sure what happened to him. Hopefully he is doing better now though.

Comments: In the hotel for this one. I'm pretty beat too from three very long and hot days. The golf tournament was fun, but it was a long day with several miles of walking in the heat and several beers alternated with bottle of water. One of the guys we went with ended up in the hospital due to heat-related illness. That wasn't the ideal lead up to two long days of hard labor in the heat...

DB Military Press/Curls/Ball Crunches: This was a good superset. The hotel fitness room was slammed so it was good to get that done so quickly and get out of there.

Pull-ups/Diamond Push-ups: Did these on my doorway pull-up bar and push-ups on the floor. My arms were already smoked from the last two days and the quick beating in the fitness room. Still plowed through and got 'em done.

I pretty much mixed my accessory work in with the heavy sets and just stepped on the gas. I've done lots of manual labor at work the last two days. We were building studded walls out on the top floor of the parking garage and then lifting them up and over onto the terrace. Not to mention carrying all of that equipment up and down the steps. OK, time to jump in the shower and go meet a client for dinner. I'll catch up in everyone's journals soon.
You smashed the hotel gym workout Trent ... 5 rounds of your press/curl/crunch superset in 10 minutes and you must've been drowned in sweat and breathless after 40 pull-ups + 40 push-ups in 3:35
I don't think I've ever been in a hotel gym that was slammed but then I'm more likely to head there before breakfast than at 5pm ... that's happy hour time
And like Chris, I'm always amazed at you wanting to do any working out after a full-on physical work day

Ha ha, thank you my friend. I was thinking what a slack workout that was... Wasn't drenched in sweat at all. There was this thing called air conditioning in there... Yeah, that's why I got it done so quickly. It was time for happy hour.

(Note: Rest pauses are allowed, but may not exceed 5 seconds. Stop when you can only get 1 rep.)
One Set of Push-ups to Failure: 62
    Rest two minutes
One Set of Ring Rows to Failure: 30

    Conditioning: Metcon
Complete as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes of:
    40-lb. dumbbell deadlifts, 9 reps
    6 burpees
40-lb. dumbbell power cleans, 3 reps

    Post rounds completed: 8 Rounds

Comments: Finished this week with almost 60 hours and most of it was working hard in the heat. Happy to be done with work and wanted to get a Bench/Row variation session in. It took a while, but I think I came up with a good workout. Two giant sets to get through the heavy sets and some of the accessory and core work. Then two burnout sets for accessory work. One push and one pull. I will then finish with a short but brutal metcon.

Decline/Drag/V-ups: The Decline Bench felt heavy. Perhaps it is just my awkward set-up. The drag curls and v-ups were good. Nice combo.

Hammer/Plyo/Back Extensions: This was tough. The 105 heat index was starting to take it's toll during this set.

Push-ups: Got 30 right out of the gate then took my first rest pause (at the top, not lying on the ground). I then get two more sets of ten and then they were 5 or less for a few. I stopped after I could only get 1 rep before having to take a rest pause.

Ring Rows: Got 18 out of the gate here and then things went South... My grip failed before I got to single digits though. This was a cool concept and I'll have to keep this one stored away.

Metcon: Well, things "got real" during that metcon. Drenched in sweat and huffing and puffing now. I got that one from crossfit and subbed 40 lb dumbbells for 60's as that's all I have. Nothing was too terribly difficult but cumulatively it sucked. Those are three crappy movements paired together and the burpees were the easiest.

Well, on the injury front, my knee feels back to normal. My ankle, on the other hand, is still hurting some. The pain is mostly in the Achilles tendon. It hurts to jump and land and also to do any quick, forceful movement. I may be able to do a light jog for a run, but that's about it. All that being said, I may be able to do some light squats and deads this week as neither of those stress the Achilles that much. My boss was sick today and yesterday though, so if I can keep the Ebola at bay, I will plan to do some actual lower body work this week. Hope you all have a good Friday night and a great weekend!

Thanks my friend. Shawn got my thinking about the "Giant Set" and I really like them right now. I'm down 15 lbs and not hitting any PR's so it's fun to just auto-program the weights on heavy lifts and combine them with accessory work just to keep the blood flowing. Not to mention doing it in the heat keeps you accustomed to it. Hopefully this ankle can heal up and I can get back to doing real stuff again.

Loved that push/pull workout Trent! That max rep push-ups and max rep ring rows after all the presses, curls, pull-ups and plyo push ups was a spark of evil genius
Great work to get 30+10+10 on the push-ups... my triceps would have failed me well before that and I would have collapsed in a face plant
Cool metcon .... DB PCs get tiring quickly. Good news about the knee. Now for the ankle ...

Wow! That was a serious workout yesterday Trent. That was a huge amount of work. I'm loving the Giant sets and supersets lately too. It really seems to add another dimension to the training...the intensity really seems to go up from those.

Glad to hear the knee is doing better. Sorry to hear the ankle is still bugging you though. My left ankle is perpetually in a state of pain like that too. I don't have any good advice about that except for to ice it when you can. That is about the only thing that ever seems to help mine get back to normal. Then I usually step on a root or a rock and twist it and start the process back over again. Seriously though I hope it heals up quickly for you. I want to see you start hammering those low body workouts again.

This is not right.. you work 60 hours...it's freaking hot and humid and you decide to do the entire CrossFit Games as one workout with metcon...and your complaint is your set up on declines made them heavy? While battling two injuries? WTF...tarheels be crazy !!!

AWESOME work ethic TM ..a tip of the cap....
