Thanks guys. I think my accessory and metcon work help out tremendously with higher rep sets. Shane, you're right, I kill it on the weekends. That's pretty unfortunate in my opinion, but something I'm forced into because of my job. That has been a not so pleasant topic between me and my wife for a while. It's just hard when you work a lot of hours and your schedule is constantly changing. Ron, I think you'll get that set of 10 before you know it. Your work ethic is fantastic.

Evening Session (5:30PM)
Conditioning: Metcon
Pat
Wearing a 20-lb. backpack, 6 rounds for time:
25 pull-ups
50-ft. walking lunge, holding 30 lb dumbbells
25 push-ups
50-ft. walking lunge, holding 30 lb dumbbells
Post time: 34:35
Metcon:
Before: Something tells me I'm going to be paying the price for doing walking lunges two days in a row, and after a 5 mile run on Saturday to proceed those two days... It's also 91 degrees out here with a heat index of 95. This is going to suck on a lot of levels. Here goes!
After: Good Lord... Walking lunges have to be one of the worst exercises for a metcon. Honestly, the first three rounds weren't bad. Rounds four, five and six, however, were terrible. Glad to have that one done. I did sub walking lunges with 30 lb dumbbells for 75 lb front rack walking lunges as I suck at the front rack position and don't have room to do them in my garage. The lunges were done with the 20 lb backpack on too.
OK, that's it for me today. I'll probably hit some bench/rows later this week. Have a good night!All-Time PR's and Info:

Comments: Yesterday morning I woke up and my left knee was killing me. It has felt like that ever since. It's sort've embarassing but I think I slept on it wrong (it wasn't hurting before I went to sleep). When I try to lift my leg up without tensing any of the muscles around it, it feels like it will come out of joint. That could make for an interesting week of training this coming week and I may have to completely alter my program or just skip leg work. Going to try and get a little bit done out here this morning.
Bench: Those sets felt heavy. I used my black iron plates for bench and those weigh somewhere around 50-53 lbs each. So the weights could've been off by a little. Those sets were definitely touch and go and I was feeling the burn.
Rows: Strong sets here. I usually don't superset these with bench and it was a lot harder because of that.
Accessory I: Triceps were burning by round 4. Back Extensions hurt the knee a little.
Accessory II: Easy stuff here.
Metcon: Might as well call this Accessory III. These were supposed to be 135 lb Shoulder to Overheads, but I wanted to minimize the amount of leg invovement in this lift to protect the knee so I scaled it way down to 95 lbs. It was still plenty challenging, especially after everything leading up to it.
Well, glad to get this one in on Friday morning so the evening can be spent hanging with the family. Hope you all have a great day!All-Time PR's and Info:

Heck yeah on those BP numbers Trent. I would say those would definitely get the job done. I like the SS with the rows. I know you don't like SS the mains, but those 2 seem to work well together.
Sorry to hear about the knee, hopefully it is nothing and is gone as quickly as it showed up.
Happy Father's Day!

Ha .... I was so looking forward top catching up with your log Trent!
It didn't disappoint
Great work on all the big lifts .... strong PRs on the pendlays and really strong reppage on the bench and deadlifts
I knew you wouldn't let me down with the metcons and I was keen to see if you picked up anything from the CrossFit Regionals
Ha .... that was awesome! I loved that event in the regionals and I thought out was so well programmed. I know DBs was criticised by many but it threw in some major challenges and the top athletes in each region generally adapted well to it. Overhead lunges with an 80lb DB .... how hard is that! Wall balls and rope climbs just to make sure that the arms, shoulders and legs were flogged
Loved your scaling on that workout
Burpee night mare!
then burpee blasters .... you're sick Trent
And even more burpees! Great work on those Dragonflies and looking pretty tight and lean ....
Stronger, leaner and fitter the last 6 weeks Trent doinitrite"Better to wear out than rust out!"

Deadlift 190kg/418lbs

He's back!!!! Dude, I seriously thought the worst may have happened to you. It really made my day to see you back!
Thanks on all of the metcon and crazy work. It sure has been a heck of a month of training and I just started my last week of training before vacation. Very much looking forward to seeing how you've been doing brother. I trust there must be one heck of an update coming in your journal.All-Time PR's and Info:

Cycle 17. Week 5. Session 1.
Squat
Work up to 3(8x205): 8x135, 185, 205, 205, 205
Deadlift
Work up to 3(8x275): 8x235, 255, 275, 275, 275
Time: 21:35
Accessory
4 Rounds:
8 Box Step-ups (per leg) holding 40 lb Dumbbells
8 Floor Glute-Ham Raises
12 Jump Squats
5 Hanging Leg Raises with 3-Count Pause
Time: 12:45
Conditioning: Distance Run (From Week 4), Outdoor, Paved
5K, 28:39, 9:10 Pace, 430 Calories, 114' Elevation Gain
Comments: Well, I've got to go out of town this coming week for 4 days, so I'm trying to get a head start on my training. My knee feels a lot better, but still hurts a little. I'm going to try and get through these sets and if it hurts too bad I'll just drop the weight or skip it all together. Also, I'm going to do my distance run from Week 4 after squats and deads (because I just love suffering). This is the last week of the cycle and then it's vacation time!
Squat: I used my flossing bands and wrapped one over each knee sleeve to give my knees more support and stability. Pain was minimal during these sets. Got through them.
Deadlift: Had unwrapped the knees and felt some pain during the first set so I wrapped them back up for the remaining sets. The last set was a real grinder, but no knee pain thankfully. Wait a minute, I'm done with squats and deads for two weeks!!!
Accessory: 100% humidity out here for this, but not too hot. Absolutely drenched in sweat after that. The step-ups were subbed in to take it easy on the knees. I was originally going to do 4(8x135) squats and honestly that probably would've been easier. Glad that's done.
Run: Now, time for that distance run that I usually do by itself. Ha ha ha...
After: Well that was a struggle. Honestly, the first half wasn't that bad, and then I started going uphill. It rained all last night so it was just sticky, steamy humid out there. Plus doing squats and deads before it added a degree of difficulty. I was doing very short, pathetic little strides, but still finished.
Well, that's it for legs. Just a couple of upper body and conditioning sessions remain. Have a great day and a wonderful Father's Day weekend!All-Time PR's and Info:

Solid work TM...nice volume on the squats and deadz...I'd be trashed after those 2 moves at that much volume...Then to run in 100% humidity...I hope you keep yourself well hydrated...Nice work!!

Thanks so much RT! Believe me, I was trashed after lifting and the run was terrible. I did make a concerted effort to drink a bottle of water during my workout so I wouldn't be completely dehydrated for the run. I'm usually good for a 5K, but anything further than that and I have to prehydrate a little more.

Big update posted but nothing notable ... slowly rehabbing
I was keen to know what you'd thought on the regional comps and whether you'd seen any of the events .... I ended up watching most of the mens individual events on youtube
Good work today and nice to know that you've got a work-around for that knee pain .... good heavy volume squats and deads and hard work following that into the box step-ups. Squats would have been way easier that the step-ups but I think step-ups and single leg work are essential for proper knee and hip rehab
Have a great day Trent!"Better to wear out than rust out!"

Unfortunately, I haven't seen any of the crossfit games/coverage. I've been working 50-60 hours a week for the last two months and just trying to catch up with house work and training on the weekends. I'll have to check it out. Yeah, the step-ups are a lot easier on the knees. Hope you have a great day too!
