Thanks man! I don't like to make that big of jumps when I'm working my way up on bench. That was a tough two sets though.
Yeah man, the second rep just barely happened. If I would have thought I had a chance at getting the third I would've gone for it, but knew it wasn't happening. I'm not a huge fan of purposely setting a really heavy barbell down an inch or two above my neck. That would be the day that the safety broke or something.All-Time PR's and Info:

Nice workout yesterday Trent. Those bench reps looked strong man. Great work there.
That's a lot of inverted rows you did too...and those are far from easy so I know you were getting some good work there.
Great job on your Metcon. Kicking butt and taking names in here as usual. If in doubt, squat and run hills. So you walk into the gym and don't know what to do? Then squat and run hills. 9/8/16:
Conditioning: Metcon
Complete as many rounds as possible in 10 minutes of:
75-lb. power snatches, 10 reps
10 burpees
Rounds: 5 Rounds + 10 Power Snatches
Comments: This is probably a stupid idea to do this metcon today. I haven't gotten much sleep all week and am pretty tired. I'll probably be up late watching the game tonight and then have a long day tomorrow. Sure, let's throw a metcon in there... Also, it's 91 degrees in here for this. The forecast says it is going to get cooler starting Sunday. I'm hoping this may be the last 90+ degree garage workout of the year. Definitely looking forward to some cooler weather.
Metcon: Got this from CF.com. At least it is a short one. Easy? No. Short? Yes. Dropping the weight from 95 lbs down to 75 lbs. I feel like this one should be done at a weight that you can at least get 5-6+ good looking reps of and I can't do that at 95 lbs. So 75 it is. OK, let's get sweaty...
Well, that was fun. Definitely got sweaty. Happy with those results. I thought I would only get 4 rounds plus a few reps. Had NFL Network playing in the background and started getting hyped up from all of the game coverage. It should be a tough game, that's for sure. Hope you all have a good night. Go Panthers! Your crazy Trent. With your schedule and lack of sleep I think you should have opted for pre game activities rather than 75 pound power snatch rounds! It's 10'mimutes that i couldn't do. Especially in that heat man!
Good luck tonight. I have Thomas in one league and Denver D in another. Otherwise I'm with you. Lol."Never Give Up. Great Things Take Time."

Thanks Doc! The metcon was definitely tough. Yeah, that game felt like getting kicked in the guts. I never sat down for the entire game and when Gano missed the field goal I almost frickin' died. I can't imagine how bad that guy must feel. They fought tooth and nail to get to that point. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. That should be one of the harder games on the schedule, if not the hardest. So to only lose by a missed field goal? At Denver, with that crowd and the refs screwing us? That wasn't too bad. On a brighter note, your fantasy league probably turned out well.

Ha ... I hadn't just left the building, I'd left the country .... 'Down and Out in Hong Kong' the screen was looking a bit blurry most of the time.
You've been consistently building up you big lift volume so it'll be very cool to see you go for some maxes
And fukdat metcon ... I honestly really hate burpees. Of course that means that I should do more burpee metcons at home and face my demons
Beautiful: nice bench PRs and that first rep at 235 was soooo fast ... followed it up with some serious reppage on the bench and inverted rows and then two very serious metcons: your 'assistance' work still looks like a sick metcon to me
What an awesome day in the gym!
And as for today: 60 power snatches and 50 burpees was a deadly way to spend 10 minutes!"Better to wear out than rust out!"

Deadlift 190kg/418lbs

Hard work as usual going on in here. That would have been tough to knock out in normal weather, let alone in 91 degree heat. Throw in the lack of sleep, and you definitely went above the call of duty on that workout.
Sorry to see your boys lost by a missed FG. Those are the worse ways to lose a damn game. Kickers have on freaking job, kick the ball. Hate that when they miss, I am sure he is feeling awful today, but damn.

Thanks Shane! Yeah, it was a rough game. I hear what you're saying, but still feel for the guy. I don't do my job perfectly either, but luckily, my mistakes aren't quite as noticeable as a missed field goal to win a football game on national television. It sounds like the rest of the team stands behind him. A lot of people made mistakes in that game, and without a lot of those, he probably wouldn't have had to make a 50 yarder to win the game. Don't know...

Comments: 85 degrees and humid for this one. Heat index was in the 90's. Hopefully things will start cooling off soon. That was my first run in two weeks and I'm feeling it. My legs were very fresh, so that was a plus, but my lungs were not. I'm planning to max out this week, or at least work on some heavy singles. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to prepare for it. I may take a few days off from lifting to give my muscles a chance to get fresh. During that time I may do some very light metcons to keep the blood flowing, but that's about it. Then, maybe later this week I'll try to hit some heavy singles. I'll probably do all three lifts in one session, like in a powerlifting meet. We'll see how it goes. After that, I will likely take a few more days off and then do a deload week. The focus for the remainder of the cycle (4 weeks) will be ramping up the conditioning and finishing with either a really long metcon or run at the end of the cycle. Strength work will be reduced to more of a maintenance routine during that time. Instead of sticking with the core lifts I will probably substitute several variations. Well, that's the plan. I hope you all have a great weekend!All-Time PR's and Info:

Right you are my friend. I thought about doing it this afternoon, but it has been a fairly long couple of days of work so far this week. Not too bad, but I may not be at one hundred percent. I kind've want to just get it over with so I can move on to the next phase of this cycle. Here is a photo from yesterday.

9/14/16: "Garage Meet"
Squat
Work up to a 1 Rep Max for the day. (Current 1RM is 315 lbs)
5x135, 3x205, 1x245, 1x265, 1x285, 1x305, 1x315 (Tied 1RM)
Bench
Work up to a 1 Rep Max for the day. (Current 1RM is 250 lbs)
5x135, 3x185, 1x205, 1x225, 1x245 (Fail), 1x235
Deadlift
Work up to a 1 Rep Max for the day. (Current 1RM is 420 lbs)
5x235, 3x285, 1x315, 1x335, 1x355, 1x375, 1x395 (Fail x2), 1x385 (Fail)
Time: 1:35:00
Total: 925 lbs
Comments: It's been two relatively long days of work in a row, but I want to go ahead and get this one out of the way. I'm pretty tired for this, but have taken 3 days off now, so aside from some moderate manual labor at work, I should be pretty fresh. I'm going to stretch and do both static and dynamic warm-ups before this one. There will be no assistance or conditioning today. I'm just trying to max out. At this point, I don't think I'll break any of my current 1RMs, but I'm hoping to get close. The biggest deficit will probably be on Deadlift. I haven't gotten above 400 on that in a while. I'll play it by ear and see how I'm feeling once there is some weight on the bar. OK, let's see how it goes.
Squat: Stopped at my current 1RM. My form was really starting to deteriorate and I didn't want to go any higher. I got it on depth. There was some back recovery, but nowhere near as bad as the last time I did that weight. Overall, I'm happy with that rep.
Bench: I've done a lot of overhead work the last two days and I'm feeling it in these sets. No surprise there.
Deadlift: I felt like 375 went up pretty easily and started getting excited. Only to hit the end of the road, yet again.
Thoughts: There has been a lot going on in the last few weeks and my head hasn't really been in it. I've been working 50 - 60 hours a week for over a month straight and a lot of that is moderate to heavy physical labor. At home there have been some pretty stressful things as well and my head just hasn't been in it. To be honest, I haven't really felt like working out in in a week or two and have just been forcing it. Oh well, I'd rather force it than go to sh!t. Still, this was a decent performance, given the circumstances. This was only 10 lbs less than my last total. And I was much fresher and better prepared for that one. It is what it is. For the rest of the cycle, I'm going to turn the focus more toward conditioning. Strength training will be more at maintenance weights and I will do a lot of variety. It's always nice to mix things up and I look forward to focusing on something different. Longer term, I will probably try to max out again in the next few months. To build up to it, I will probably include heavy singles in my workouts. That is probably why I never seem to make progress right now. I stick to higher reps and only do singles once every few months. Oh well. Live and learn. I hope you all have a great night!All-Time PR's and Info:

Nice mock meet and you got some numbers to work with....RL can be very tough and working in the heat and humidity has to be hard on the body no matter how much water you take in.
No...you don't want to do nothing or you'll end up like the 99% out there....keep at it you've put in a lot of good work....once in a while we hit those mental plateaus...they usually come from other outside stresses....so identify what really is the issue and then your workouts will come together again...Most of the time its more than one as life is multiple stresses....but there's usually one that really is the culprit...that keeps your mind in the wrong space....
Keep at it TM"You got soul and everybody knows that its alright".....Curtis Mayfield........"Eat to be strong weights and reps"....Me....."leave the gun take the cannoli".....Fat Clemenza

Thanks RT! Like many people, I use exercise as an outlet for RL stress. It is somewhat ironic because exercising while you're already run down is not that beneficial and you are much more prone to injury and illness. Still, it helps me for some reason. I actually got back into weight training and running a few years ago when my Dad got sick and passed away. I was running 10 - 15 miles per week and also lifting. That coupled with the RL stress had me more or less exhausted most of the time. Still I kept pushing through and a year or so later when I came out of the fog, I was in killer shape. I finally started sleeping better again and switched from a maintenance plan to a linear progression plan and started making massive gains. Really, that hard time was what got me to where I am today.

Great job yesterday Trent. Sorry to hear that work and RL has been so stressful lately. I'm dealing with some of that too and man does it suck the energy out of you. Way to get in there despite that and knock out some heavy singles and grab a good total. Those were some great looking lifts and were especially impressive given the stress you've been dealing with. Keep up the good work man...the love of the iron will come back stronger than ever.

Comments: It's been cloudy all morning until right when I finally got my lazy a$$ out to run. Then the clouds parted and it heated up a little bit. Still not bad compared to recent temps. Only 81 degrees. I'm digging the slightly cooler weather.
Run: I've only posted two or three times better than this since Spring. This was suprisingly good after a brutal work week, which was topped off with a 14 hour day yesterday. I woke up this morning, after 9 hours of sleep, still pretty tired. I'm very happy with this time given all of that. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this cycle. It's going to be really fun switching it up on my lifts and getting creative with everything. I'll probably kick things off tomorrow. Well, time to cool off for a little while and then I'm going to mow the yard. Have a great day!All-Time PR's and Info:

Good work on that mock meet. That 315 looked smooth, I'll bet you had more in you, bench and Deads strong too, especially with the non ideal stuff you have been going thru. Hope things smooth out for you

I know how you're feeling after all the long hours of work and then having other RL stresses on top: honestly, for not feeling like training you still manage to put everything you have into every workout ... I can never question your commitment
Squat looked easy ... no problem with depth and a tiny squat morning on the way up but I'd say you could have added a 10lb plate on each side
Bench looked like a max but the heavy workload over the last few days would take the edge off
Dead looked really strong. I thought you'd get a 390 going by that pull so next time. Looks like you're only a shade off 1000 on perfect day
Great time on the run Trent!"Better to wear out than rust out!"

Deadlift 190kg/418lbs
