Honestly, the packers maybe should consider that. Rodgers ending his career back in California would be a pretty good story book ending too.

Just to give you some context/background on this guy, he is the sports "shock jock" in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. He is also the play-by-play radio guy for Vikings games. i.e. an idiot. I wouldn't put any stock into something reported by him. Also, think of how much is left up to interpretation with saying something like "plus other picks and a number of players from their current roster". It could mean 3 first rounders and Nick Bosa/other star players OR some late round picks and a bunch of backups. Ridiculous.

NFL teams don't draft based on college stats.
Tua was a better prospect because he had better tools, tools that translate more to NFL success.
Mac Jones is a good QB, he's someone who plays very well if surrounded by talent. Issue with taking him at #3 overall and trading so much for him is when you have to pay him and the roster isn't as good as it is now his play won't raise the bar.
Look at the QBs who have gotten paid big on their 2nd contracts with limited tools - Goff, Jimmy G.
Eventually they showed that they were limited by their physical tools and could only do so much. Rams basically overpaid to get rid of Goff. We're paying a premium to draft Jimmy's replacement.
Jones is limited. He would play well on this roster right now because we have a talented offense and good coaching. We're not drafting him just for his rookie contract. You better get a guy who can develop into a weapon teams fear even if the roster around him isn't stacked.
Waddle and Smith backing Jones...when all 3 are going into the draft the same year isn't anything special. Hell the fact that Tua struggled should be a red flag for people looking at Jones.
Look at Jones' numbers throwing into guys who aren't wide open. Look at his accuracy when he gets flushed out of the pocket.

Yeah, I can’t believe Mac gets hated on like this. Everybody’s favorite thing by far about Tua was his anticipation and accuracy. Mac is just as good if not better than that.
Tua was a good prospect but he lived off of that national championship game coming in and winning it for Bama. He was the best QB Bama had ever had (until Mac) and he became beloved for those reasons. Probably that and being a lefty.Horny.

By far the best deeply analyzed article on why to pick Fields over McCorkle. Video evidence all included.

wtf we doing here? Revisionist history much?
Tua is easily a more physically talented player.
There's a reason Tua was a much more highly recruited player out of HS. There was a reason Mac sat behind him.
Not to mention Tua showed more. Mac had one game where he even had a deficit late in the game. They lost that game, not all his fault cuz they missed the game tying FG late but he also threw 2 pick 6s in that game.
Tua showed clutch as a true freshman coming in cold to win the NC game vs a higher ranked Georgia. It wasn't much but it was something we could actually look at.
Tua has the bigger arm and more mobile. Those alone make him a better prospect. If you're comparing their numbers that has nothing to do with their NFL futures.
Mac Jones isn't terrible but there are lots of unknowns with him. Pretending otherwise because the 49ers may take him is stupid.
MAYBE he answers those questions but fact remains guys with his type of skillset are not drafted top 3 and they're certainly not selected top 3(Tua went 5th) after a team gives up as much as we did...i sure as **** hope we're not the first team to do it.

Because in the NFL he's not guaranteed to have the best pass pro in the country. There will be times where he's pressured often and will need to make throws into tight windows and on the move. He didn't have a lot of film of him doing that because his team was that good vs everyone else. When he did do it, it didn't look nearly as good as when he had a clean pocket.
That's why you don't draft him at 3.
