First day on job... Wat TF is going on?!

Got there at 8:45, office opens at 9. Owner of the agency met me, told me which desk was mine and said "see what you can figure out". The he vanished into his office.

I've never worked for this company and I have no idea about their software. I'm sort of piecing it together, but I still don't know ANY of the underwriting rules I'd need to accurately quote anything.

Finally I go into his office and ask if there is any training program I can access. He shows me where it is on their system, but we discover I'm not authorized yet to even view it. He says we'll fix that "later this week".

Before lunch, he told me he's going out this afternoon, but that I should "see what I can do making some sales calls" while he's gone. If someone wanted to buy something, I don't even know how to quote it yet.

Who hires someone with no onboarding program and tells them to get to work?! The only other employee in the office I can ask things speaks mostly Spanish, for his Spanish clients.
